Free Music Review: very safe zappa for those who fear the bizarre

This cd is fun. Simple as that. Seems as though FZ wanted to broaden his fan base with this release and the follow up OVERNIGHT SENSATION. I think frank did broaden his fanbase, but FZ was too creative to keep his medium within those boundries and he went into overdrive in the late seventies 80's. Great songs, and great fusion of musisicains... like george duke, jean luc ponty, chester thompson and ruth underwood to name a FEW...even a guest appearance by the famed CREAM bass player Jack Bruce. Great stuff.Free Music Review: One of my two fave Zappa albums.Music and humor!

My folks sent me away to prep school(Choate in Connecticut) to get a good education.I sure did-academically and musically!Got hipped to the Dead,NRPS,Commander Cody,Rory Gallagher and the great Frank Zappa amongst others."Apostrophe" and "Overnight Sensation" are my two Zappa favorites(allthough there are MANY other great Zappa albums).Love the whole Nanook-eskimo-pancake house-margerine-seal bit.Some gnarly guitar work.HEY!Get this one!Superb music and some...umm...fun,weird lyrics.Free Music Review: Buy this album!

This is an amazing record!! Musically mind-blowing and one of kind.
If you even need to read a review to see if you want to buy or not, buy it. If you know Zappa and for some reason don't already own this, you need it. If you think you want to pick up an FZ album but aren't familiar with his catalog, by all means, buy this. You will not regret your purchase.
The muscianship and quality of performance on this album is unique and even scary.
Yeah, so buy it.

This is great stuff, even all these years later. Excellent band and songs. During this era, Frank was doing some jazzy arangements but there's still alot of rock influence here too. The recording is a little on the dull side, which means you have to crank it up a bit to get the detail. See if you can find the secret message. Yellow Snow was a pretty big hit for the band but to me, Stink Foot, Cosmik Debris and Apostrophe' were the best part of the record, the crux of the biscuit!Free Music Review: apostrophe

Frank zappa is amazing. The first four tracks are hilarious, as is cosmik debris, a story about a run in with a drug dealer. Uncle remus is a really groovy song, he really jams on the whole album. this was my first zappa album, and i was hooked as soon as i heard the first song. The only songs that drag on are Excentrifugal Forz and Stink-Foot, they're pretty bad. overnite sensation is even better, dinah-moe humm is...amazing. yes, zappa is real retro,...disco
