Free Music Notes for Trance-FusionFree Music Review: Too Little Too Late Hit: 3 Stars
After years of listening to the two previous Zappa guitar cds, I was not very moved by this release. Frank is soloing over many of the same vamps and changes but his playing lacks the inventiveness of the earlier recordings. The segues and editing from track to track are not nearly as seamless as Zappa was capable of. I suspect this was a result of a man exhausted from fighting a devastating illness. Chunga's Revenge being a favorite theme would have been nice to hear with Frank exclusively instead of Dweezil. Dweezil has alot of chops but he ain't sayin' nothin'. A bunch of empty notes. Listen to the original album for this track and Transylvania Boogie. Frank's guitar is testifying!
Free Music Review: Easy on The Hot Sauce.. Hit: 3 Stars
A cleanly produced good sounding live album, but too much hot sauce can spoil the enchilada. This album is straight ahead Heavy guitar solos ONLY,
even a few lighter solos like "Watermelon in easter Hay" could have given it some balance which it needs badly to be listenable for my preferences.
No vocals, boring after a while and only for the guitar afficionados.
Free Music Review: Zapped Hit: 2 Stars
No Doubt that Frank was a huge influence on my life ( who could imagine? )from the earliest Mothers. But this must appeal to guitar players more than me; I can listen to Robert Fripp, John McClaughlin and Jeff Beck for hours but this seems repetitive and boring. Can I end this review with an Apostrophe?
Free Music Review: Where's Frank? Hit: 1 Stars
When I discovered that the guitar on the first and last cuts was not Frank, I was really turned off by this rehashed stuff. Dweezil, maybe you should heed one of your daddy's in it for the money.
