Free Music Notes for Fred ClausFree Music Review: An Unlikely Christmas Classic Hit: 5 Stars
The original promotional trailers left me with the impression this was a dark take on Christmas. Based soley on those inaccurate promos, I passed on seeing this in the theater. Well, this is a wonderful little story of hurt, bitterness, and ultimately reconciliation and redemption! Vince Vaughn is wonderful as is Paul Giamatti and supporting cast. The soundtrack is just a real winner and has forever changed my mental picture of some of the familiar tunes. "Silent Night", as sung by Sinead O'Connor is just wonderful in the movie and here, sung simply, passionately, and sincerely. Only one tune out of the whole disc I don't enjoy and I won't negatively bias others because they may love it. Great disc!
Free Music Review: Great cross-selection of classics and newer Hit: 5 Stars
This CD has classics but also some that you've probably heard but don't have. An ethereal, stunning version of Silent Night by Sinead O'Connor, Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (sp???) and the one I really, really, really wanted ... Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses. For the fans of older tunes, there is Doris Day, Johnny Mercer and Guy Lombardo. Just skip over the Leigh Nash song. A good listen at Christmas and a must have for us oddballs that celebrate Christmas in July.
Free Music Review: FRED CLAUS Hit: 5 Stars
This CD contains well known Christmas songs performed by well-known singers spanning three-quarters of a century - from Doris Day through to the wonderful Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" is the highlight track for me.
Sinead O'Connor gives a great rendition of "Silent Night". Fans of Elvis, the Jackson Five, Doris Day, or Guy Lombardo will enjoy their contributions, though none of their songs on this movie soundtrack do anything for me.
Free Music Review: Great Christmas Music Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great cd for Christmas music. If you saw the movie and wanted the Elvis song "Rubberneckin" it isn't on this CD.
