In trying to establish a sleep routine for my 4 month old, I was going to buy a lullaby CD, and then remembered someone had passed this one on to me. I popped it in and was pleasantly surprised. We use it whenever it's time for sleep; It is very relaxing and soothing. The songs have a classic, rather than contemporary feel. The arrangements are so well done, and the volume levels are perfect- There are no startling instrumentation segments. I can tell this will be one of those nostalgic albums that I'll listen to when my DD is older, and remember her baby years. This will be a shower gift for pregnant friends in the future. My newborn baby boy has colic and I had bought a CD player for his room and played the CD before he was born. At night, I start his routine for a bath, clean clothes and a feeding with this CD playing. By the time I am done feeding and burping him, he is asleep. I leave it on in repeat mode if he's having a rough time going to sleep. The music is much more calm than some of the other lullaby CD's out there, but I am starting to tire of it after 7 weeks. The music is much more calming than the Baby Einstein lullaby CD and some songs have a Kenny G feel to them because of the horns that play softly. Yes, this lullaby album ACTUALLY WORKS! At least as far as MY son is concerned. I have about six different "lullaby" albums, but this CD is the only one that really helps when he's tired and fussy but refuses to fall asleep. The songs are soft and subdued, and the instruments used are appropriate for "sleepy time" music. As opposed to some other "lullaby" albums that don't seem very soothing at all (and generally don't work), because the beats are too sharp and the instruments make harsh, startling noises that can actually WAKE a baby. This is the only lullaby album that I actually use regularly, and highly recommend to all parents!Free Music Review: A perfect way to wind down

This CD not only provides a wonderful accompaniment for babies drifting off to sleep, it is also a great way for adults to wind down after a tough day. I often play the CD for myself when I go to bed and it never fails to relax me. Sometimes I even drift off to sleep long before the CD is over. The songlist is beautiful, but the thing that makes this CD stand out from others is the peaceful and simplistic presentation of the music. It is not charted with a large orchestra. Rather, it uses minimal instruments which soothe the mind and spirit. This is the perfect relaxing music for people ages 0 to 100.Free Music Review: Mommy's favorite!!!!

We used a sounds of the womb CD for over a year because everytime I tried a "Lullaby" CD, most would wake the baby... Most lullaby CD's we tried had too much quiet then loud for my light sleeper! (Not a musician so I can't remember the exact music terms or how to spell.)
I really liked the variety of music on this CD so I decided I would try just once more, at least if this CD didn't work as a lullaby CD, it had songs that I wouldn't mind listening to while I relaxed!
Needless to say, it is perfect! I love it and most importantly, it never wakes the baby!
