Free Music Notes for 13 Songs

Free Music Review: Great. Powerful. Immersive.
Hit: 5 Stars

When I first got this CD it was my first exposure to Fugazi. After a play or two I was hooked. I think I listened to this all the way through every day for at least a year. I kid you not. If I had had iTunes at the time logging my playlist this would have been at the top of the list by far. Each song expressed its own message of frustration at some aspect of modern culture: mysgony, addiction, inaction, obsession, etc. It was unlike anything I had heard before. I was a latecomer to the hardcore scene, so it really struck me how angry yet passionate these "kids" were at the time. I was lucky enough to catch Fugazi on their last national tour, which was quite good.

Free Music Review: In This Case, 13 is a Very, Very Good Number!
Hit: 5 Stars

Their first full-length LP, Fugazi's "13 Songs" (originally entitled "Margin Walker"?) is an excellent, artistic, almost impressionistic album by the creators of an honest and positive punk project. What works so magically about this CD is not only its rawness, but its creative bent. Its seems as is Fugazi were reaching for the clouds here. In some songs guitar feedback is employed very effectively- like with Hendrix, it is used smoothly to create a sky-borne ambience. In the case of "13 Songs", the number 13 is a very lucky number indeed! Take your spin with this- if you like Ian or creative USA punk, you're guaranteed to win!

Free Music Review: why is this not better known?!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

The thing that strikes me about this album is how many bands seem to have derived from it since. Now I notice the Fugazi in Rage against the machine. I hear Fugazi in Helmet. Every single song is a wake up call if you are willing to listen. This is what rock music was meant to sound like, sans the sex and the drugs.

This is what punk rock was meant to be....I can't think of a better punk rock band than this. Idealism is still alive, and Fugazi makes it okay to be an idealist in times when ideals are just euphemisms for agendas....where common sense and brotherhood have lost their way indefinitely.

Free Music Review: the remastered version is worth buying this again...
Hit: 5 Stars

just out in august 2003 >So i dont have to tell ya that this album is one of the best d.c. bands of all time but if you question is the remastered version worth getting i would give it 5 stars.they really make the music come more to life with the dynamics that fugazi is really known for with there slow movement and sharp twists they were doing on these sessions. But in case you didnt know fugazi is a band from the dc music thing members of "rites of spring=embrace=one last wish= kind of a power group of sorts .classic stuff and im gald they finally did something about the sound quality it deserved it!!!

Free Music Review: Tylan needs to die
Hit: 5 Stars

OK first off, I'd like to say the this is a great album. Fugazi is truly one of the only reasons to listen to music these days. However i would liketo take a more pointed aproach in the review. Tylan. Tylan, Tylan, Tylan. You are quite possibly the most brain dead, unimaginative loser I have ever had the misfortune of coming across. Now, you'll probably say 'what right does this jerk have to take potshots at me?' and you know what? I don't. But there ain't nothing you can do about it. HAHA. Anyway, you can have the 'rhyming skillz of fred durst and zach'. I'll take the howl of Guy Piccoto over that bilge anyday
