Free Music Notes for Beautiful Garbage

Free Music Review: beautiful, is it!
Hit: 5 Stars

Beautiful Garbage opens with the dramatic and bruising Shut Your Mouth, heavy with samples, cranking guitars and a killer chorus...theres more funny little noises than you can shake a stick at. It's classic, moody, sulky, pouting Garbage.
Androgyny is slick r'n'b, the opening few bars could be any of todays chart artists and the song finds Shirley in a optimistic and sexy mood..."the birds and the bees they hum along/take what you need to turn you on". Then the sassy guitars kick in with the chorus and you know who you're listening to.
Numero 3 is the dramatic Cant Cry These Tears...the huuuge ballad kicks off instantly with Shirley reminiscing sweetly over bells and orchestra. A bittersweet love song about someone thats hard to let go of...."theres no way she could kiss you, the way that i do.."
Til The Day I Die is cast from the mold as previous Garbage 'tainted love' episodes, crunking and crashing along nicely. Very pouty.
Cup Of Coffee sits nicely along previous ballads as a delicate piano-driven song about unrequited love...as only Garbage can do it. Beautiful, emotive...and very catchy.
Perhaps the heaviest song every recorded by Garbage, Silence Is Golden is an angry, vitriolic episode about fustration and freedom of speech, definately one of the albums stand out tracks it's maybe a cross between 'Vow' and 'I think I'm Paranoid' from Garbage's two previous records.
Just when you thought things were sinking into angsty mode, the infectious synth-pop of Cherry Lips (go baby go!) gives you a good kick in the rear and urges you to get up and shake it. Saccharine vocals, handclaps accompy a upbeat song about cross-dressing ;)
More campy retro-girlband disco. Breaking Up The Girl boasts a huge chorus in it's whistful melody paving the way for Parade, another stand-out track. "As far as I can see it doesn't matter who you, if you can beleive theres something worth fighting for" is the wisdom Shirley imparts to us knowingly.
Nobody Loves You would make the PERFECT b-side to Garbage's James Bond theme, The World Is Not Enough (from the film of the same name of course, remember?). It's slinky beats, echoed vocals and sharp samples produce a dark, atmospheric, overcast song...perfect for sulking.
Untouchable is a tribute to pop's current mistress, Britney Spears. Manson bitterly reminds someone she dislikes very much that she is not a lady to be messed with - and does it with style as only Shirley can! Again the album ventures into r'n'b/hip hop terrority and with great success.
Acoustic guitars and soft beats open up for So Like a Rose, which is akin to listening to a sunset. No, really. It's the perfect closer for a Garbage album...mellow, reflective and throughly lovely.
Beautiful Garbage is overall a pop record for absoloute weirdos, the weirder you are. The better you like it.

Free Music Review: Beautifulgarbage Rules
Hit: 5 Stars

Beutiful Garbage is a great cd once you get over the shock of the new sound. The album is a mix of hip hop, pop and rock with
a garbage sound. At first listen shut your mouth and cherry lips stood out which i absolutely loved and songs like cant cry these tears and drive you home i was completely disgusted with. After a week or two of listening to the album I ended up falling in love with drive you home and really liked cant cry these tears. So dont judge this album from just one listen.

Shut your mouth 10/10: This song is one of my favorite garbage songs. The only song that sounds the most like previous garbage songs on this album. It is heavy with a hip hop kind of rap which is very cool. Shut your mouth or cherry lips should have been the first single for the album to sell better in America. Both these songs were not even released as singles in America.

Androgyny 9.5/10: Great song which should not have been the first single. It has a hip hop r&b sound with cool instruments with a more alternative chorus.

Cant cry these tears 9/10: Top quality song but score reduced due to the style of the song as it sounds like a 60' pop with a garbage sound.

Til the day i die 9/10: Good song which has a hip hop sound which has a similar sound to bif nakeds i love myself today.

Cup of Coffee 9/10: These are one of the great slow songs which grow on you over time. It has a kind of classical sound but with a dark sad sound.

Silence is Golden 8/10: Garbages heaviest song with real heavy guitar sounding kind of country sounding. People who like heavier music would like this song.

Cherry Lips 10/10: This is garbages bubblegum pop song. It is just the best, you have to listen to it. Even friends of mine who only like heavy music end up liking this song when i force them to listen to it.

Breking up the girl 9.5/10: This is a great song it has a garbage sound but poppier with a beatles like sound with good sounding instruments.

Drive You Home 9.5/10: This is one of garbages best slow songs but with a 60's sound with her angel like sound she makes in between the depressing singing.

Parade 9/10: A great alternative sounding song more like a tamed down punk song.

Nobody loves You 8.5/10: A good song which could be another james bond song as it has a similar sound to the world is not enough.

Untouchable 9.5/10: This song has a heavy hip hop sound sung with attitude with cool instruments.

So Like A Rose 8/10: this is garbages most plain sounding slow song but it is still a lovely song.

Overall Beautifulgarbage is a awsome album. Version 2.0 is my favorite as every song is great with beautiful garbage and the debut album a tie for second favorite. This is becauase beautiful garbage has more great songs than the first album but beautifulgarbage also has my three least favorite songs.

When Garbage roared onto the music scene in 1995 with their highly successful debut album, they were well received by both music fans and critics. But one criticism they've always had fired at them is that they suffer a chronic lack of diversity in their musical style. Their second album, the appropriately titled Version 2.0, only gave these criticisms more credibility, bouncing the same boppy techno tracks with each cut. So does beautifulgarbage correct the problem? Indeedy do!

Androgyny, the first single, is a danceable, highly enjoyable R&B number, with lyrics like 'boys in the girls room, girls in the mens room' which liberally mock traditional gender stereotypes. It's a totally different Garbage sound to what you're used to, but there's no denying it sinks its hooks in.

As for the rest of the album, their new sound takes some warming up to, but there's enough oldgarbage in beautifulgarbage to remind you who you're listening to. Shut Your Mouth (as the title would suggest) is an acidic, vicious funk song, with so much attitude that it's impossible to dislike. Garbage pay homage to their punk roots on this one. Can't Cry These Tears is a much more soothing ballad, with a gorgeous sweeping harmony, and Shirley really pushing her vocal skills to the limit. Till The Day I Die is a schizo rock/dance number that I completely adored.

Garbage are well noted for slow ballads such as Milk and You Look So Fine, so it's no surprise that Cup Of Coffee, with its mesmerizing piano track and outright depressing lyrics is such a wonder to listen to. Silence is Golden is perhaps Garbage's heaviest song to date. A favourite from their old live sets, it's erratic melody is held together by Shirley's anguished lyrics. Cherry Lips is a fabulous tribute/send-up to/of bubble-gum pop music, while Breaking Up The Girl is a strong rock song in the tradition of favourites like Special or Only Happy When It Rains.

After that point, the album really slows down. Drive You Home and the finishing track So Like A Rose are wonderfully atmospheric. Nobody Loves You equals Cup Of Coffee with its gorgeous lyrics and haunting music from the three boys. Parade is a wonderfully fast, celebratory song. Untouchable is another trip into R&B territory, that after Androgyny seems like overkill, though it's probably the better of the two songs.

Overall, Beautiful Garbage won't challenge their first album, but it's a damn fine collection of tracks, which explodes the myth of Garbage being samey. If you haven't heard it, I can't really tell you what to expect whether you're a Garbage fan or not. I grew to love it on the whole, but it took some getting used to. One thing's for certain, Garbage explore a lot of new territory here very successfully. Buy it. Play it. Love it.

Free Music Review: Beautifulgarbage indeed.
Hit: 5 Stars

If you're a casual Garbage fan who just downloads a song here and there, trust me- you won't like this album. There's a good chance you're only familiar with the darker sound of Garbage's earlier days. This masterful album shows a completely different, "lighter" side of Garbage, the existence of which was unknown to most fans. Casual fans won't like the album because it's too different. Real Garbage fans, dedicated Darklings, will love this album, because it not only displays Garbage's musical diversity, but provides us with some kickass songs!
The thirteen songs of Beautifulgarbage touch upon practically all musical genres throughout the course of the album, and Garbage performs each of the different styles expertly. Here's a track list:
1) Shut Your Mouth: A fierce rock anthem that attacks all that is phony and corporate in the music industry. Slamming guitars and roaring vocals make this one of the album's best.
2) Androgyny: And now for something completely different... I can't even describe this song. It's just awesome!
3) Can't Cry These Tears: A throwback to '60s girl groups. It takes some getting used to, but great nonetheless.
4) Till the Day I Die: Man, I love this song. The juxtaposition of "I'm sure gonna leave you" and "I will love you till the day that I die" at the end is just brilliant!
5) Cup of Coffee: A haunting ballad with some of the most beautiful strings I've ever heard, and gut-wrenching lyrics to boot.
6) Silence is Golden: A powerful song about a girl who has been sexually abused. You can feel the frustration and pain in Shirley's voice as the song ends, and her singing escalates into a scream.
7) Cherry Lips: Oh so bubbly and delicious. It's impossible not to love this song.
8) Breaking up the Girl: A little bit of old-school Garbage for those who miss the days of Version 2.0.
9) Drive you Home: The guitar in the opening verse of this ballad is just... <loss of words>
10) Parade: Fast, ferocious, and fantastic. It makes you want to pop some speed and run around the room really fast! Ka-BOOM!
11) Nobody Loves You: Like any well-told story, Beautifulgarbage has a climax. This song is it. The enchanting guitar and great studio effects come together in a transfixing semi-ballad that, after its tremendously powerful conclusion, will surely leave you gasping for air.
12) Untouchable: Good if you're not in the mood to be moved by a song. Nice, but can't follow "Nobody Loves You."
13) So Like a Rose: A perfect conclusion to an almost perfect album. This slow, dragging ballad fades out with Shirley's stunning vocals ringing until the sound dies away, leaving you wanting more!

So there you go. Beautifulgarbage. Enjoy.

Free Music Review: More then Just Beautiful Grabage
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is spectacular. There isn't many times where I like every single song on an album...but let me introduce you to beautifulgarbage. This album is everything Garbage is and more. The lyrics are simply outstanding..Shirley's voice sounds soo perfect on many tracks and the great MUSIC pouring into the background only emphasize Shirley's beautiful voice. Everything is right on this album..Let me give you a breakdown of songs

*Shut your Mouth- great song to start the album.."Welcome, we love you, we hate you." Shirley has great attitude in this song.

*Androgyny- Many people don't like this song. However this is one of my favorites. Just a good song a little on the pop side but it works into the favor of this song.

*Can't Cry these Tears- WOW! omg this song is so good. The title says it all. This song totally hits on the meter of one of the best written songs on the album.

*Til the Day i Die- Reminds me of 80's music. This is my least favorite song on the album..but hey thats not a bad thing cuz I still love it. The last verse of the song kicks total [edit].

*Cup Of Coffee- This is probably one of the best songs ever by Garbage. All about obsession this song is mellow but haunting, as it has stuck in my head for days.

*Silence is Golden- You'd be deaf if you listened to this track and didn't hear the personal angst inside Shirley's voice. As she screams "I have been broken" I think this is a pretty damn good song.

*Cherry Lips- AHH! this song is so catchy. I love this song..and although it might seem poppy and cute-It has a serious meaning behind it.

*Breaking Up the Girl- Sounds alot like Special from v. 2.0. I like this song alot because it reminds me of older Garbage with staying new and fresh.

*Drive You Home- You could call it a ballad. But whatever you call it make sure to mention that Shirley has almost never sounded better and that it is an outstanding song. Makes me feel almost eerie.

*Parade- Catchy chorus. Very very good song. Shirley of course sounds great..ITS ALL JUST SO GOOD..in this neighborhood.

*Nobody Loves You- To me this song is in a league of its own. It is simply amazing. So deep and eerie. The music creates the most wonderful atmosphere. Shirley has never (I mean never) sounded so good. Best song ever by Garbage.

*Untouchable- I'm sure everyone can relate to this song. Although it seems oddly misplaced in between two very eerie songs.

*So Like a Rose- The longest song on the album. I love it. so touching..you can hear Shirley's pain. Very Very emotional. Spectacular finale.

I love this album so much. Even the order of songs is great (except for Untouchable) I look forward to seeing Garbage's next evolution!!
