Free Music Notes for Bleed Like MeFree Music Review: Amazed Once More! Hit: 5 Stars
After experimenting with all the production trinkets at their disposal on the last album, coming up with a cacophany of unique and diverse sounds, the band has roared back in a mighty way with their fourth effort.
Shiley Manson's vocals are as good as ever, despite her vocal chord surgery, and the band returned to a more raw, yet still alternative rock sound. Ther guitars scream into the ears from all directions, and generally drown the special effects and loops that came at you with such vengeance on Version 2.0 and BeautifulGarbage. This shows their versatility; no album of theirs has ever followed the same pattern.
This is why I have always deeply admired Garbage: they do not give themselves over to the same predictability that most mainstream artists have. Each of the eleven songs on the album sound COMPLETELY different from one another, and give a perfectly balanced rhythm between the harder rock songs and the beatiful, more melancholy soft songs. The melodies to most songs are truly beautiful, especially Happy Home and It's All Over. If you play them on an acoustic guitar, you can see just how attractive the melodies really are.
I would say if you get any album this year (at least to this point), this is the one to purchase. You will not be disappointed.
Free Music Review: Garbage at their best... Hit: 5 Stars
I love Garbage. Or rather I loved Garbage, until Beautiful Garbage was released. Not to say the music there was bad, but it wasn't the Garbage I knew. The witty and smart lyrics as well as the wicked sounds were gone. I was anticipating this album with so-so expectations but when I heard the album the very 1st time, it blew me away. On repeat listening, I started catching the lyrics and appreciating the songs more and more. People say some of the best music comes from heartache, and although I feel bad saying this...I tend to agree. I guess it's like fuel to fire. It takes something mediocre and turns it great. Everything about this album is fantastic. The lyrics are intelligent and beautiful but not to point that it's sappy and I'm sure everyone can relate to many of the songs here. The music is also nothing short of remarkable. In short, this is an emotionally sweeping album which is fragile yet powerful at the same. I would normally mention standout tracks, but it's hard here because all the songs are THAT good. Shirley Manson & Co. have done it again. This album, in my opinion is the best Garbage album out there and that's something I thought I'd never say. If you're thinking twice to get it, stop...and just get it, you will not regret it because I think this album has all the makings of a classic.
Free Music Review: Strong. Sexy. Real. Hit: 5 Stars
Garbage is and has always been in a class unto themselves. Simply put, there's just no one else out there like Garbage. How refreshing to hear real music from real musicians...and not manufactured pop-stars! This album is in a sense raw, but at the same time very refined. Reminiscent of their first album and a bit of Angelfish, it is saturated with emotion and pure driving rock and roll. There is a successful balance of vocals, guitars, and drums, and the horns and string elements add a wonderful spark to an already hyper-charged orchestration!
As far a Shirley's voice is concerned, it is as strong and sexy as it ever was. Her ability to maneuver through so many emotions is critical to the success of their music. When I listened to the first track (which by the way I listened to 4 times in a row!), I was fondly reminded of a Chrissie Hynde-like energy. Boy, would that be a nice vocal duo...Shirley and Chrissie!
Regarding the diffuculties in producing this effort, we all respect that true creativity and passion are what separates us at times, but it also keeps us real. Anything worthwhile is worth fighting for. This is definitely worthwhile.
Thanks to Garbage for fighting to keep it real. This is GOOD STUFF!

Free Music Review: GARBAGE Soars to New Level of Excellence!! Hit: 5 Stars
Of the four GARBAGE albums, all of which are indispensable, this is clearly the best, in addition to being their latest. It is certainly their most accessible, deserving of the attention of all age groups within the Rock audience and beyond.
Despite or perhaps because of vocal chord surgery since the 3rd GARBAGE album, "Beautiful Garbage," which was a commercial dud in spite of unanimous critical praise, lead vocalist Shirley Manson is in the best voice of her career and is clearly at the top of her game as she wraps that voice around the notes in a way that would challenge the top female vocalists of any genre, in any era.
Lyrically, GARBAGE seems to have pulled off the neat trick of expanding their reach without abandoning their core audience, the young males so in evidence at their mind-blowing concert appearances. This GARBAGE vehicle hasn't exactly left its lane, but it has edged close enough to the Mainstream lane to wave--and perhaps smile--at passengers in the other vehicles.
Particularly outstanding this time around is the inspired guitar work of GARBAGE lead guitarist, Rock's Incredible Hulk, Steve Marker. I am not just saying that because he's my nephew, either.
