Free Music Review: Triumphant return and beyond

I remember when I first heard this band on altenative radio some 10 years ago. I think it was Queer. I really liked what I heard. I bought the debut album and really liked it. Then 2.0 came out.
I liked this one maybe a little more. It was about evolution. I listned to Beautiful Garbage and decided they were just an experiment in alternative music that could easily be written off...Left it at that.
Much to my surprise, they reformed last year and went back in the studio to record thier best work in my opinion! I let the first single go by, Why Do You Love Me. With a casual note. Then I heard the title track and decided to pick up a copy of this magnum opus! I gave it listen and it is rare that I take to new music like this. First listen and I immediately thought this is great.
It has now become my soundtrack to the summer of 2005! It starts out with a heavier edge and doesnt let up! Bad Boyfriend is one of their best track ever!I would have to say that Its All Over But The Crying is my favorite track. I am telling all my friends about this treasure.
Butch Vig is an undisputed champ of this genre. Do yourself a musical favor and get this new Classic!
Free Music Review: New, different and great

This album is not a return to V2.0. Its also a departure from Beautiful Garbage. Its a new progression that reflects the band as they are now, and they are in a great place musically. Much less produced and more raw than the previous albums, it feels both more in your face and intimate than the previous albums. For those looking for a more techno groove, this might not be the album for you. It is straight ahead guitar rock. As for the content of the lyrics, while the band (and I suspect Shirley) continues to reflect female angst themes, much of the content shows a new level of maturity that was started with Beautiful Garbage (although Bad Boyfriend returns to the sex vixen theme from the previous albums).
Favorite cuts after listening to the album all of twice includes Bleed Like Me, Metal Heart, Sex is not the Enemy and It's All Over But the Shouting.
In short, there is not a single bad cut on the album, they songs are different from previous albums showing growth and new influences. And that is a good thing. Who wants to listen to bands that continue to make the same three songs that made them famous, repackaged each year on their next new album.

"Bleed Like Me" is a very successful return to rock'n'roll form for a band notorious with flirting with musical genres ranging from electronica to mainstream pop. I have to say that when I first bought this CD I was a little disappointed that it didn't sound anything like "Version 2.0" or "Beautiful Garbage" (their more pop friendly albums). Despite that though, this album is still rather good and a bit reminiscent of their debut effort. I'm sure that Garbage's most devoted fans will embrace this with wide open arms: it has everything on it to make it one of the best albums of the year! Immediate stand out hits include "Bad Boyfriend", "Bleed Like Me", "Sex is Not the Enemy", "Boys Wanna Fight" and the lead off single: "Why Do You Love Me".

Free Music Review: The best Garbage?

Shirley Manson is still the hottest woman in rock and roll (and she's Scottish!). That blazing red hair and those eyes, the bright red lips, she just has "it." And this time, out along with looking so smokin' hot, Shirley has something to say. She is angry, tough, fragile and on the edge...something Garbage really hasn't been known for. But Shirley and the boys (studio magicians all) returned this year in a blaze of fury and delivered the best work of their career. Bleed Like Me rocks and growls with a purpose that is personal and real. When she slows down the tempo the angst just rises as she sings, "avalanche is sullen and too thin / she starves herself to rid herself of sin / and the kick is so divine when she sees bones beneath her skin / and she says: hey baby can you bleed like me? / c'mon baby can you bleed like me...you should see my scars." When the tempo kicks back up Garbage delivers just as strong with more edge and grit than ever before. After four years away that included a band breakup and Shirley's divorce no one expected an album anywhere near this good.Free Music Review: Another album by a fantastic band!!!

I've been in love with Garbage since 1996. I just recently was able to see them live when they were touring for the Bleed Like Me album. They have such stage presence, and being front row, I was able to see how truly talented all the members of the band were. The songs are so touching live, especially "Bleed Like Me". You know they went through a lot to even release this album. It upsets me how little recognition a great band like this gets. I know they're not necessarily mainstream, but MTV showed their videos back during the Version 2.0 era constantly!!!! More people need to be exposed to this album and this band to get a better appreciation of GREAT music. This album rocks, Version 2.0 rocks as well, so does their debut album as well as BeautifulGarbage. This album is especially good because you can definitely tell their progression from their first album to now. They're a band that has the ability to last forever, so long as they have support from the wonderful people who live on this planet!!!! I'm a supporter. :-)
