Free Music Review: Garbage,They're so out, there in!
Hit: 5 Stars

Garbage is just wierd, I don't understand how every song on the cd can be this great. I think maybe it's because they recycle old songs and turn them into new and sometimes even BETTER songs, there loops is what facinate me the most, And shirley manson is of course my favorite singer, her voice is so deep, yet she can do anything with it. The cd goes through all ranges.. from electronica,to punkish rock, to pop, to ballad, and of course ROCK. they even have a kind of countryish song near the end but.. well actually its just the intro to that song. The lyrics are great too. Nothing stupid here.. they also really know how to make songs about love seem a lot less sluggish, because there lyrics are so universal that every song can be what you want it to be. TEMPTATION WAITS: This song has a great loop in it, I would say this is definetly electronica, with pop. I THINK IM PARANOID. The beggining to this song starts out sounding like some kind of a whacked out video game but kind of becomes punk, and then rock. WHEN I GROW UP. This song is great too. definetly pop though, with some rock thrown in here and there, the lyrics arent the best though. MEDICATION: A ballad with a wierd sounding chorous, It's definetly rock. SPECIAL: this song is all about alternative music, and the singing here is great. HAMMERING IN MY HEAD: This is a fast and furious electronica trip hop kind of song. The guitars sound angry, but then everything slows down like its a dream. PUSH IT: this is my favorite song of all time, the guitars are so great in this song.. I don't think ill ever get sick of it. I've listened to it for at least two years now at least 4 times a week, pop, and rock. THE TRICK IS TO KEEP BREATHING: Another ballad, sounds sad to me. but the lyrics are positive. DUMB: this has a great chorous thats also fast and furious. SLEEP TOGETHER: this sounds like it kind of has a little hip hop in it, her voice sounds distant in this song, and the courous sounds like a volcano exploding in the background. WICKED WAYS: the beggining really starts off like it's a country song.. in a wierd way though. The lyrics are really cool. The singing is loud and the chorous is great too.. like all of the other songs. YOU LOOK SO FINE: This is the most beautiful song on the cd. It's very sad, and very beautiful in a haunting kind of way, kind of depressing. Overall this cd is awesome, you guys have gotta go out and get it.. it's good for EVERYONES taste almost. And the music..it's just so interesting and complex. I love it.

Free Music Review: The Best CD in The World!
Hit: 5 Stars

I Love Garbage so much.
This CD changed my opinion of music forever. This is my all-time favorite CD, and it always will be, it's spectacular. Shirley Manson has this unique voice, it's dark, and sexy, and she can write some of the best songs in the world.
Here's what I think of all the songs (Warning, I will compliment all of them)

1.) "Temptation Waits" - My favorite song on this album, I love the lyrics to it "I'll tell you something/I am a wolf but I like to wear sheep's clothing/I am a bonfire/I am a vampire/I'm waiting for my moment"

2.) "I Think I'm Paranoid" - This song is great. It's got a good beat to it, again, I love the lyrics to it "Bend me break me anyway you need me as long as I want you baby it's alright"

3.) "When I Grow Up" - This song is the reason I bought the album, I absolutely love this song. Most people refer to it as "The song from Big Daddy". I think it's one of Garbage's best.

4.) "Medication" - This song is talking about depression, as does most of Garbage's songs. But, that's one of the reasons I love Garbage.

5.) "Special" - Awesome song. When I used to listne to this on the radio, I thought it was Sheryl Crow, which is odd, because Shirley Manson and Sheryl Crow have completley different voices.

6.) "Hammering in My Head" - This song is kind of strange, but still awesome.

7.) "Push It" - I love this song, plain and simple

8.) "The Trick is to Keep Breathing" - I like this song, it's a good song for someone who is so stressed out, because, it has a message with it.

9.) "Dumb" - I love this song, the lyrics are great "A masochistic lamb to slaughter/Maybe you missed the point/I'm feeling small/I'm climbing the walls/I don't let it show/Now that you know what you know, I bet you wish you could let it go/You'll never come sucking your thumb/Better off dumb"

10.) "Sleep Together" - Good song, it's not spectular, but it's still great.

11.) "Wicked Ways" - I think Shirley is trying to tell us she's evil. "Bring your pictures of the Pope/Pray to God for love and hope/Bring the Virgin home for luck/Bolt the door to keep it shut" awesome

12.) "You Look So Fine" - A great song for anyone who's ever been in love, or thought someone was so attractive.

Anyways....Please buy this album, it's excellent
DO NOT buy BeautifulGarbage if you've never heard Garbage before, you'll get a different perspective on Garbage then you should, they aren't pop!

Free Music Review: Not only for stupid girls who are only happy when it rains
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been putting off reviewing this album for quite some time, but I think it's about time that I gave it the justice that it deserves. To put it simply, this is one of the most appealing albums I have ever heard, and it is my personal favourite Garbage album. In "Version 2.0", Shirley and the boys have moved from their dark and sometimes depressing melodies to fun disco beats and electronic samples. Not that their old quality has gone; there's no mistaking Garbage when you hear them.

What can I say? Despite being released way back in 1998, this album still sounds fresh by today's standards. On the first hearing, listeners are confronted with a highly polished, pop/techno/rock album. However, after several more spins the music's complexity and multitude of layers are revealed. If I recall correctly, Butch said in an interview that they used over 100 tracks while recording "Push It".
Once again, I am unable to pick a standout track, as each of the different songs flow seamlessly together:

Temptation Waits - This shimmering, techno number makes a perfect introduction to the album.
I think I'm Paranoid - This song has everything that you know and love about Garbage: Irresistible riffs, power chords, great lyrics, everything.
When I Grow Up - Not just the song from Big Daddy!
Medication - Haunting beautiful vocals from Shirley, with a great climax up to the chorus.
Special - Once again, a great song that has it all.
Hammering in my Head - I really like this song. It's seductive, hyper and refuses to leave you alone.
Push It - This is the song that got me addicted to Garbage in the first place. It manages to borrow from the Beach Boys and Salt N Peppa, all without missing a beat.
The trick is to keep Breathing - My favourite Garbage ballad. So smooth and calm - amazing.
Dumb - Kickarse techno track. I love the line "a masochistic lamb to slaughter".
Sleep Together - Possibly the weakest track on the whole album. Not that it's bad! It also asks a very relevant question "If we sleep together, will you like me better?"
Wicked Ways - Swing meets rock! Have I mentioned that I love the lyrics on this album?
You Look so Fine - Perfect way to close the album. It effectively uses strings to enhance Shirley's emotional vocals.

That being said, this album is definitely worth a listen. You won't regret it.
Bring on album #4!

Free Music Review: Awesome! But Their First One's Still My Favorite
Hit: 5 Stars

This is such a great album with an upbeat sound mixed with cheery and dark lyrics. Almost anyone can appreciate at least one song on this album. Unfortunately, the dark gothic rock aspect i loved so much on the first one is missing, but this is still one of my favorite albums! Here's a song by song review...
TEMPTATION WAITS: great dance techno song you have to get used to at first but then it has you singing the chorus everytime, very upbeat!
I THINK I'M PARANOID: probably the most popular track on the album and a great one that's fun to sing, it's a lot more poppy than anything from their first album, but in a good way
WHEN I GROW UP: probably the most catchy song on the album that i never get tired of, it's so different from their earlier stuff, but somehow it works
MEDICATION: slow song but i love the chorus, the lyrics in this one are beautifully written and i can relate to everything said in this song, it's enchanting
SPECIAL: i don't understand what's so "special" about this song, i mean i think it's a great song, but i still think perhaps five other ones top this one, how is this the best of the album? oh well, i guess it's just me cuz i don't understand how wonderful it supposedly is
HAMMERING IN MY HEAD: the song i used to always skip through cuz it caused a hammering in MY head and annoyed the hella outta me, but somehow along the lines i got used to it and i'm likin it
PUSH IT: my favorite on the album! the greatest sound i've heard in a song in years! everytime i hear shirley's electronic voice gasping "push it!" i get chills, it's so great and a great video to match
THE TRICK IS TO KEEP BREATHING: i love this song, it's lyric's are so touching and it's just so heartbreaking for some reason, this song really touches emotional strings
DUMB: great chorus saves this from being too repetitive at the end, "you'll never come sucking your thumb, better off dumb!" haha, brilliant
SLEEP TOGETHER: can be annoying, but i still like it, but i prefer a lot of the others over it, nothin special
WICKED WAYS: i really like this song, it's usually overlooked but i think the chorus is very catchy and it's a good attack at religion
YOU LOOK SO FINE: awesome ending ballad just like "Milk", kinda lengthy but still appropriate and heartmelting.
Shirley, YOU look so fine! :) tee-hee

Free Music Review: Music that's 100 layers deep
Hit: 5 Stars

Quite different from their debut, Garbage V2.0 is much more computer-oriented and hi-tech sounding, with synth noises replacing much of the guitars. Incredible detail has been given to these songs and the production, so much that this CD is almost too perfect and in fact might start to annoy you just because most music is so much rawer. That said, its still one of the greatest CDs ever and holds up for dozens of listens. There's more musical layers here than on any other Garbage CD (I think I read somewhere that track 6 used something like 120 tracks) so after listening to it dozens of times I still hear something new on every song, every listen.

Temptation Waits: as close to a dance/techno song as Garbage has ever gotten on an album track, and it works well.

I Think I'm Paranoid: one of the few songs on this album driven by hard guitars, its the one that you'll listen to a lot at first but get sick of fairly quick.

When I Grow Up: I used to hate this song, its very happy and I don't like the lyrics in the chorus. But there's no denying its a pretty great song musically. Its kind of this album's counterpart to Only Happy When It Rains, because the singing style is very happy and poppy but the lyrics of the verse are very dark.

Medication: Slow, a tad boring, still great.

Special: Genius, a rush of clean-toned guitar notes and a very modern drum style, happy and sad at the same time.

Hammering in My Head: Very high speed, synthetic angry head, with some amazing Manson lyrics spit out in a rush at the end. Probably one of the most experimental songs here, its not you're typical Garbage verse/chorus/verse formula.

Push It: A dark, futuristic trip unlike anything else out there, and its a wonder that nobody has tried to rip it off. Great bass line, amazing attention to detail.

The Trick is to Keep Breathing: A depressing song that with an underlying fast tempo that makes it seem to fly by much too fast. Best song on the album, and maybe Garbage's best song ever.

Dumb: This album's Dog New Tricks. Fairly straightford, angry music.

Sleep Together: Neat ping-pong like noises and a drum track similar to that of the earlier Stupid Girl.

Wicked Ways: Slide guitar or something gives this one a wicked groove. Very cool song with a heavy chorus.

You Look So Fine: Great closing ballad, once again.
