Free Music Notes for Garden StateFree Music Review: It's Understandble How it Won an Grammy, and Now 5 Stars from Moi Hit: 5 Stars
When I first saw Garden State, I instantly fell in love with the movie because it was something I could relate to on many levels, especially, the "infinite abyss" and the finding yourself concept. It's definitely unlike any typical mainstream movie, and very well written. Besides the movie being so captivating, the soundtrack was another I instantly fell in love with. Just as the movie you grow with it, and is very relatable, the soundtrack is the same way. I felt a sense of growth with every song, and so pleasantly wonderful to listen to from Coldplay "Don't Panic" to Bonnie Somerville "winding road". It definitely has such a wonderful vibe to all the songs listed on the soundtrack that it sends you off into another world.
Once again, i'm greatly big on fastforwarding to the good songs, but with this soundtrack, especially for a movie at that, is absolutely excellent. It's highly understandble why it won a Grammy for best soundtrack in 2005 (2004 roughly).
I've truthfully never liked a soundtrack as much as this, and definitely ear candy for a music lover.
Free Music Review: a luscious mix of words and tricks... Hit: 5 Stars
Garden State. Just the best movie made in a ludicrously long time. Luckily, that clever minx of a film maker, Mr. Zach Braff compiled a brilliant soundtrack to fuel his movie. Each song is evocative and instantly transports the listener to a scene in the movie. "New Slang"..."you gotta listen to this song,it'll change your life, I swear!"...the Shins are just amazing and warrant both of their spots on the soundtrack. Remy Zero's "Fair" is possibly the most viscerally responsive...tied beautifully to the movies cinematography, you can see Zach and Natalie sitting in front of the sire place, as the vocals sweetly drone "what if you catch me, where would we land?" As the previews imply, though, the strongest and most haunting song present on the album has to be froufrou's "let go" it is the most indicative of the film and it's ambiance...and beyond that it is just beautiful...the carey brothers, coldplay, simon and garfunkel, and Iron and Wine(if you don't love such great heights, I want to know why!lol)all lend themselves gorgeously to an incredible soundtrack to an amazing movie!
Free Music Review: Killer Soundtrack that might be better than the movie Hit: 5 Stars
As I consider myself ColdPlay's number one fan, I was impressed from the first song, Don't Panic. I'm also a big fan of Remy Zero, Nick Drake and Simon & G so the fact that I liked these songs came as no surprise to me.
But what a great find and wonderful surprise with the 9th track: Lebanese Blonde - Thievery Corporation and the 11th track: Such Great Heights - Iron and Wine. These two songs alone are worth the cost of the CD.
I loved the way The Postal Service sang Such Great Heights and would have booed anyone who'd try to redo it. But Iron and Wine's version sounds like a completely different song except for the lyrics. I had not even bothered to look at the back of the CD when I borrowed it so the 11th track was almost finished before I started to recognize the lyrics! I loved Iron and Wine's rendition.
Whoever is responsible for putting these songs together deserves a pat on the back. Throwing Simon & G's The Only Living Boy In New York in the middle of these not as well-known songs was genius!
Free Music Review: yes please Hit: 5 Stars
i have to write something. I love the movie. As i have come to find out, many people relate to this. But i felt like it was a direct play on my love life and the love of my life. She is Sam in a nutshell, and i couldn't be more moved. On to the cd, i am really happy that all these songs you acually hear in the movie..it seems most soundtracks that come out these days have not one song herd in the movie it self. and that is just stupid. its a soundtrack for the movie..have the movie music on it. This is probably one of the main reasons this soundtrack is loved so much. because people watch the movie then listen to the soundtrack and remember the movie.. So first watch the movie..then listen to the cd..You will remember each song as how it hit you in the movie..My favorite is "Let Go" from frou frou..of course cus it was the end of the movie when these two young adults decide to say screw it to reason and purpose and go for love..and that plays in my head everytime i listen to that song..Great stuff..rent the movie..buy the soundtrack..the end
Free Music Review: Beautiful Hit: 5 Stars
I and very impressed with the Garden State Soundtrack. Beautiful melodies and harmonies; great beats. Most of the songs on these soundtracks are songs that you can listen to over and over again without getting sick of. I was familiar with the Shins before listening to this soundtrack so personally, I wasn't jumping up with new found excitement but don't get me wrong, the Shins are amazing and flow perfectly with the other songs and artists on this CD. If you have heard "Destiny" by Zero 7, you will probably like this CD a lot. Zero 7 being one of my favorites, I feel like this song is just a really smooth track.
My personal favorite is Iron and Wine's cover of the Postal Services' "Such Great Heights" which is one of my favorite. After hearing Iron and Wine's version I found myself likeing it better than the origional because it beings the hyperactivity of PS's version and really soften and sweetens the song.
I would recommend this CD to anyone who wants to get into a less crazy, more meaningful type of music.
