Free Music Review: Whew what a journey
Hit: 5 Stars

Let me just start off by saying that the movie changed my life and so devotion to it and anything to do with was almost instant. I was already a massive Shins fan before i went to see the movie, which led me to be even more enamored of it. To put a great band in a movie almost makes it a great movie. But back to the soundtrack

I am on the song by Frou Frou right now on my first listen, and i decided to rate it now before the thoughts left me. I am one of those people who can't listen to a whole cd at a time, no matter how good it is. I switch songs constantly, i swear i have ADD. And then i realized that i haven't switched ANY songs since the first notes of Coldplay began. I also have that feeling of fulfillment again as the movie gave me

BUY THIS SOUNDTRACK!! If there is ever a cd that you want to change the way you think, then just pop this in a cd player, and feel your eyes widen with epiphany

Free Music Review: It Doesn't Let Go
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm not really big into buying soundtracks, but you simply can't resist buying this soundtrack after watching the movie, which is SO reliant on the music. The movie is AMAZING. If you have ever felt like you are walking through a living cemetery when you go back to your hometown, you will connect with this movie. There is not one bad song on the soundtrack! The tone of the movie is masterfully connected to the music and listening to the CD is like being at the theater again, only your own life sort of plays while you are listening to it. I played the CD while I was in my car and I didn't get out when I was home, it's one of those CDs where you just keep driving to hear the music. Most of the songs or artists I had never heard of before, and I am happy to be introduced to them. Zack Braft compiled some of the best music I have ever heard. BUY IT> You can't lose. The CD is cheap and the soungs are deep.

Free Music Review: an eye opener for the blind
Hit: 5 Stars

The only reason why you must buy this album is to listen what you have been missing all these years: frantic music performed by real artists. That beacuse most if not all these songs can be found in previous releases. In a collection that gives preference to The Shins, Nick Drake, Iron & Wine, Coldplay, and some other less welcome names, Zach Braff has (un)consciously built the soundtrack that will define the taste of millions of teenagers and adults used to listening to pre-recorded voices. Moments like these only happen sparsely in a decade (remember what Good will hunting did for the mighty Elliott Smith, or Morvern Callar for those underrated electronic bands) and should be treasured as unique gems. It is true, although, that the songs make more sense within the context of the movie, but as individual entities they could reach even deeper.
Enjoy them and look at the state of the precious garden.

Free Music Review: garden state of mind
Hit: 5 Stars

I will see said movie three more times this week, and then i will stand looking over an empty earth-crater in the pouring rain wearing a garbage bag with 'only living boy in new york' turning over in my psyche, and i will just scream aloud from the lungs and throat and heart and head ... for everyone who needs it. a fierce, cleansing high decibel release - i promise. then i will drive home with squeaky acoustic thrums, lyrical profundity, and folktronic comfort rhythm in my cerebrum ... thoroughly 'in it' by choice, and i wouldn't have it any other numb or easy way.
cuz blue eyes, you're the secret I keep ... and I just wanna sing a song with you.

the soundtrack is such a perfectly intelligent, straight from the heart gift to an already amazing piece of celluloid. I couldn't think of a better way to weave evocative music into this film's delicate emotional fabric.

Free Music Review: One of the saddest days of my life.
Hit: 5 Stars

Think of one of the saddest days of your life. Think of how you felt, how emotional you might have been, think of the tears, think of what your brain was trying to communicate to you.

I'm not the type of person who usually cries. This movie made me cry so much, you wouldn't even think it was me. I sat there watching the movie and it made me so sad, the world didn't make a movement or noise during that time. Nothing could get in my way but tears. Tears of sadness!

This soundtrack is like that. Sure, it is filled with some of the best bands out there in the "indie world" but even better - if you feel like listening to songs, that will put you in that "weird, sad mood" listen to this soundtrack.

I've given this cd to friends who are greiving, it works.

This is quite possibly one of the best "mix cds" made by a company that iv'e ever bought.
