Free Music Review: The only reason it didn't sell well was cuz........
Hit: 5 Stars

believe it or not, BAD MARKETING. There was hype, but alot of it was negative, probably because this was percieved as a cross-over attempt by garth Brooks, not a pre-soundtrack to the supposed "movie" (I still think there really isn't going to be an actual movie). The Vh1 special was really cool, but that was the only positive media produced for the Cd, and it really came too late. I bought the album after buying the single for "Lost in You", and I really enjoyed it. By all accounts, it was better put together than most greatest hits collections by non-fictional artists. i still can't believe it's Garth Brook's voice! His voice is transformed into a smooth pop tone, twang-free(thank the lord!). The best songs are "Lost in You"(beautiful song), "Unsigned Letter" (my personal fav, it has a good beat and great lyrics), "it don't matter to the sun", "that's the way I remember it" and "White Flag". I especially enjoy the overall look of the whole package. The back-stories "Chris Gaines" gives toward every song is really cool. The reason marketing wasn't handled correctly was because of radio releases. "Lost in You" was a good first single, but I don't know why "Right Now" is the second single. It's an OK song, but it comes off really cheesy with extended listening. With better marketing, the Cd would have gone platinum in a hurry, and the reduced price would've been applied. It's a steal now at ten bucks, and I recommend it to everybody even more greatly now beacause of the great price. Get it, you'll like it.

Free Music Review: Garth/Chris....Who cares?
Hit: 5 Stars

I'll have to admit, when I first heard "Lost In You," I was a little skeptical. Garth has never been recognized for his voice, but for his "everyman"type of songs that people can relate to. But on this effort, Garth shows amazing range and versatitility unlike anyone could have expected from him. What has always appealed to audiences about Garth is that in his music, you get a little of all kinds of music. The Chris Gaines CD allows him to take this a little further without damaging his country credibility. As we can hear on his "The Magic of Christmas" CD, Garth hasn't left country music or forgotten how to sing it. My favorite track on the album is "Unsigned Letter." It's the hardest rocking song on the album and has an excellent beat. "The Way of the Girl" is another excellent track. "Snow In July" sounds like "funk" and is catchy. "White Flag" and "Main Sreet" are good as well. I have never heard an album encompass so many different sounds and types of music. And the amazing part is that Garth makes it work. Hopefully Garth continues this separate endeavor and proves he is still country, but he can do a little rock too. As Garth's buddy Chris LeDoux summed it up, "Even Cowboys Like A Little Rock and Roll."

Free Music Review: The CD With No Respect
Hit: 5 Stars

No, it's not typical Garth. It's not even country music. Once you eliminate those preconceived notions you can really listen to this CD. I have heard people call this the "worst CD ever" and "Garth's mistake" and I can't understand why. This album is brillant. I listen to "Chris" constantly and have purchased 3 of them (one for car, home, and office). Some of the tunes are very mellow, such as "It Doesn't Matter to the Sun", "Maybe", and "Drifting Away". Other songs have a soft edge to them, such as "Snow In July" and "White Flag". It's a nice balance, although his softer songs are superior to his attempt at edge.
The best song on the album is "Drifting Away", a ballad about a man in love who cannot committ. The "skip over" song is the one released as a single, "Right Now", a rap attempt with the chorus of the 60's song "Everybody Get Together, Try To Love One Another Right Now". Forget it's Garth singing, forget Garth is country. and don't read the liner notes (which makes it sound like a "concept album") and enjoy it for what it is - good music. This album should be in an "adult comtemporary" or "vocals" category, not country. Give this CD some respect!

Free Music Review: GARTH IS THE KING !
Hit: 5 Stars

I have always been, and will always be a Garth Brooks fan and knew he had so many twists that he one day had to make a record as this. Country fans should be pleased to see the deversity Garth has brought to Country Music. With this album he must convince every one in the music business. My wife wasn't such a big fan as I am but this CD hasn't left the CD player. She loves it, she taped it to play in the car and is absolutely astonished with this music.

I believe that the songs are wonderfully produced and Garth his voice has never been better. The songs often refer to his examples and some songs reminded me of Billy Joel, which is a big compliment Mr. Brooks. Further more he handles a Beatles sound like many other have tried but didn't succeed. Great work from the fantastic Don Was... Again.

The backings are great and all musicians working on this album are simply the best you can have.

Well crafted, full emotion.. For those who don't want to understand, try again, this is a hell of an album and may not be his biggest seller but in years to come this will proove to be a milestone for Garth and his loyal share of fans.

Thanks Garth, You are simply to good for words.. Also, Thanks to Chris Gaines, I hope he is doing well at Garth's home...

Greetings to all Amazon Fans. Ronald

Free Music Review: One of the best CD's ever produced
Hit: 5 Stars

My family of five, including my wife and I and our three children (18, 16 and 13), have over 700 CD's in our collection. Everyone in this family has different tastes and we all like everything and I mean everything. Maybe about the only two types of music you won't hear in our house is heavy medal and bagpipe. We listen to everything from Frank Sinatra to the Beatles to Country to hip-hop to jazz and classical. We even have a gospel CD from a group that we enjoyed so much together as a family on the streets on Seattle that we bought their CD. We are a family that loves good music and appreciates the emotion and honesty that goes into making a good recording. This work by Chris Gaines is maybe the only and one CD that everyone in the family loves equally and as greatly as the other. It is a fantastic piece of work that is underrated by people that can't drop preconceived notions and by critics that are trying to hard to fight what it has to offer. This music is ahead of its time. The concept is not new of course. Probably the greatest album ever produced (arguably, that is) was created with a similar thought and concept. The album was Sargent Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band. Remember the flak those guys took? You're in company Garth. Keep it up.
