Free Music Notes for The Ultimate HitsFree Music Review: Generosity and Hospitality Hit: 5 Stars
I was inclined to dock Garth Brooks' newest compilation `The Ultimate Hits' by one star. Finding 1995`s `The Hits' to have Garth Brooks' truly greatest work, I knew that a new collection would collect songs from lesser albums like `Fresh Horses'. But, this is what "Greatest Hits" albums really do: They harvest and refine an artists' work.
Listening once again to "The Beaches of Cheyenne" in its place with his other songs, I discovered there isn't a dud to be found in this rich and generous two-CD, one DVD extravaganza. That song is easily more layered and accomplished than previously thought, so good judgment continues to follow him from all his post 'In Pieces' work. "Beer Run," "Wrapped Up in You," and "Good Ride Cowboy" ably represent 'Scarecrow' and 'The Lost Sessions,' arguably his best albums since 'The Hits' was released. Staying in touch with his audience, 'Sevens' is perfectly extracted with two fine drinking songs, "Longneck Bottle" and "Two Pina Coladas".
Besides using good judgment, the new material fails to mar. "More Than a Memory," "Midnight Sun," and "Leave a Light On" are postscripts that fail to disappoint. Less familiar gems like "The Change" also offer welcome departures. And, as much as I like Bob Dylan and Billy Joel, there's much to prefer for Garth's quietly passionate version of Dylan's "To Make You Feel My Love". To add variety, guest star appearances are amply present, including a countrified duet with Huey Lewis on his own "Workin' for a Livin'".
If I were to cower like a spoilt child, I'd nick pick and write that "Allison Miranda" and "No Esta Aqui" were left out of this work, but who's to say they would sound as well integrated as the rest of the C.D. Furthermore, I think "Right Now" is worthy of the rest, but there's plenty of wisdom and respect for the audience to leave 'Chris Gaines Greatest Hits' out of the mix.
Briefly, the DVD is magnificent! Containing more than half live renditions and slightly less than half studio originals, the videos are outstanding--especially for people like me who were left standing outside the stadium and never were lucky enough to see him in concert.
`The Ultimate Hits' tells us an awful lot about Garth Brooks. The selection says he hasn't lost touch with his audience. The price and the wealth of material remind us that the man who'd like to beat the Beatles in royalties and on any given day afford his own "Cowboy Cadillac," still knows how to be generous and offer plenty of helpings of hospitality. No matter how you size it up, Garth Brooks' 'The Ultimate Hits' showcases a harvest of plenty.

Hope this list helps someone to make them a companion CD to go with this already great 2CD/1DVD set. Other artists and their labels could take note from Garth on how to give their fans their money's worth.
I'd would have loved Hard Luck Woman to be on the CD along with Garth in full KISS makeup. That would have been a cool video. I'm glad to see the original video for In Another Eyes on the set. Trisha looks so beautiful in it.
Free Music Review: There Has Never Been So Much Bang for Each Buck Spent Hit: 5 Stars
Garth is the guy who brought pop country music to the masses in America and also in the outside world in a way no other singer has made before. The simplicity and the beauty of his songs are compelling to the most. Hard to resist. A reference. Period.
The success of "The Ultimate Hits" is a proof that Garth, even when he's out of scene, never loses momentum. Every one of his previous studio and live albums are multi-million sales records, and even this one, which is just a compilation of his previous songs (with three new ones, in fact) follows the same multi-million sales track. Yes! You got it! Three songs made a lot of people buy again what they probably already had. New fans, like me, had a real grasp on what Garth is all about and I am looking for more.
The "Ultimate Hits" does not carry the word "ultimate" without a reason. It is also "The Ultimate Package" because it is a bundle with 2 CDs and 1 amazing DVD (containing both music videos and live performances of all the songs on the CDs) for the price of one CD. A value for the money that you just don't find anywhere. So that's no questions: Garth hits the Target again. Well Done!
Free Music Review: Contains Memorable Hits of Garth Brooks Hit: 5 Stars
Garth Brook's Ultimate Hits is a strong and high-quality collection. The bonus to owning this collection is that you get two cds and one dvd of Garth Brook's greatest hits. This cd does have many of his greatest hits. Here are some of the hits that are my personal favorites in this compilation:
"In Another's Eyes"
"We Shall Be Free"
"Shameless"
"The River"
"The Dance"
The one thing that I am suprised about is the fact that the song "You Move Me" was left off this compilation. The other songs included are great and make obtaining this greatest hits collection worth it. However, the reason why I feel like "You Move Me" would have been beneficial to include in this compilation is because it is a loving, beautiful, and uplifting song about how his lover touches him. The theme of "You Move Me" would have went wonderfully with the other love songs that are included on this Garth Brook's greatest hits collection. This collection is best to get if you enjoy country music and/or you are an occasional country music listener who enjoys collecting greatest hit compilations of talented musicians.
