Free Music Notes for Live Over Europe

Free Music Review: Very good, but lacks a little old energy.
Hit: 4 Stars

I was hoping to see the oficial material of this new Genesis world tour after all the bootlegs I heard from it. Sure I knew what to expect, and I once again hit this same key: a wonderful idea that the band decided touring again over the world, but they lack the old energy from their previous concerts. Most part of the classic tunes are executed in a lower key, so they all miss that energy and Phil Collins felt the same way.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the band, they continue to be spectacular musicians, every one of them, I still hope they change their minds and give us another album, or at least another tour, and the set of the show is very good. The only problem is that the songs are not executed in their proper keys, giving the impression that the band are tired or something like that. Besides, this is an item every fan should get and give a chance.

Free Music Review: A Genesis Fan's Bias
Hit: 4 Stars

I'll start by saying that Phil Collins is one of the singularly most talented humans on the planet. I still marvel at his incredibly diverse set of talents. I know I should critique this CD more harshly because it's lacking the nuclear powered energy of 3-Sides Live and Seconds Out, but my god, it's flat out amazing what they still can do and how Phil Collins still has perfect pitch even now. I love this album despite the lack of "something", but to be fair, they're not what they used to be. Twist my arm and I'll say that the worst song on the album is "turn it on again" - which compared to 3-sides live, is lifeless. Also, I somehow got the impression that Phil Collins was getting lyrics from a teleprompter. However, I still love Genesis and always will. I'm thrilled to have new Genesis to enjoy and I simply can't dislike this CD.

Free Music Review: The end of an Era...Genesis's last concert...
Hit: 4 Stars

I saw Genesis in concert last year(2007), and it was a great show, and a nice way to say goodbye to my favorite Prog-Rock band. I have seen them many times in the 80's and 90's. This CD is a nice farewell to all the fans. The guys are getting old, but they still put out a great bunch of tunes. I must admit that at first I was dissapointed in the musical arrangements, but after a few times listening to the CD, I realized just how long Genesis has been making music, and it was cool that they changed some things up a bit, even if it was to help Phil hit the high notes. I recommend this CD as a historical farewell from a great band. Check out Genesis "Seconds Out" (1976-77)for the guys at their peak. BEST LIVE CD EVER. Thanks Tony, Peter, Chester, Phil, Mike, Steve, and Daryl for the decades of great music!

Free Music Review: Nothing wrong with this!
Hit: 4 Stars

Genesis have been my favorite band since 1983, so here goes-----
I have all 22 of the European concerts (limited edition-not bootlegs, Google it!!!)from this tour, and the song list was EXACTLY the same for all the shows, and this release as well. I also have many shows from all their tours, and this is probably the best song selection ever, taking into consideration the variety of material available. Sure, the Gabriel material is better, but it would be ridiculous to lean toward that material in 2007. The last thing I want to hear the band playing is Trespass material with Phil singing in 2007! At least the Phil-altered live lyrics to "Invisible Touch" and "I Can't Dance" are still there!!

Free Music Review: Deja Vu All Over Again!
Hit: 4 Stars

I bought this under some hesitation as I have written off Phil Collins some years back and cringed at Genesis' latter works, but the track listing (most of it, anyway) sold me.
Brilliant Stuff throughout but all I thought of was "Seconds Out" from 30 years ago! Collins, Rutherford, Banks, Steurmer and Thompson Turn it On Again with this decent package of Live performances recorded LY in Europe.
Whether prog or pop, Genesis delivers the goods. Consistent and enjoyable throughout.
'In The Cage' stands out for me.
Shame, however, as Phil drops the F bomb on 'Invisible Touch'.
Oh well, such are the times.
