Free Music Notes for FaithFree Music Review: True to it's title! Hit: 5 Stars
A year after the dissolution of the Ridgeley/Michael duo Wham! In 1986, George Michael returned as a solo artists with his debut album entitled "Faith" the following year and the album was a tremendous artistic and commercial triumph, a rarity, even against man 1980s artists. Granted, a lot of 80s music has dated very poorly, especially the early 1980s but George Michael's "Faith" album has held up amazingly well in the 20 years since it's release and it's easy to see why!
Some non-singles from this album also have a very dark theme to them. Arguably my favorite amongst them is "Hand To Mouth" with it's Quiet Storm keyboards and melodic atmosphere which for all it's beauty is actually a song that tells of someone who is denied the chance of living the American Dream and amidst the despair, goes on a shooting spree and murders several victims. It is also a very strong indictment of the effects of Reaganomics during this time.
Free Music Review: Great 80s collection of George Michael Hit: 5 Stars
This a good collection to get if you would like to have some of the songs from the 80's from George Michael's solo career. I, like many others, grew up hearing George Michael on the radio. I remember as a little girl hearing the songs "Father Figure" and "Faith". I really enjoyed the video to Father Figure. The chemistry he had in the video with the model was very natural and believable. Countless people are going to enjoy this collection whether you were children when this collection came out or older. I would have to close this review by admitting that my favorite track in this collection is "I Want Your Sex" (parts 1 and 2). The chemistry he had with the model in the "I Want Your Sex" video is very good and easy to) see as well. Overall, this is a good 80's collection of George Michael to have and savor.
Free Music Review: Worth the Money! Hit: 5 Stars
This album is amazing because over half the songs on this album were hit singles! George Michael is immsensely talented and these songs show that. He has amazing vocal power. The big one is of course the title track which I'm sure everyone remembers. It was a big #1 hit. My favorite is "I Want Your Sex" which was actually controversial at the time but still managed to make the top 5. The ballads "Father Figure" and "One More Try" are fantastic and both went right to #1 on the charts as did the dance single "Monkey." "Kissing A Fool" is also a highlight. It almost sounds like something out of the 1940's but that didn't stop it from getting to the US top 5. George Michael continued to have success in the 1990's, but this was his solo triumph with four #1 singles and six top 5 tracks.
Free Music Review: A Must Have Classic!!! Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is a classic that endures all the fickleness of time. George Michael has mastered an imaginative mix of upbeat and cool tunes with beautiful musical arrangements."Faith" is a great upbeat jingle that never fails to get you moving. "Father Figure" is as close to perfect as an artist can get. "I Want Your Sex" is a fun club beat. "One More Try" a slow sad song with great music behind it. "Hard Day" my personal favorite track on the CD because of the heavy bass. "Hand To Mouth" is jazzy and easy to listen to, nice drum influences. "Look At Your Hands" this one could have been left off. "Monkey" another dance mix. "Kissing A Fool" so here is where the 40's jazz begins. You will be able to listen to this CD over and over again and across many years. Have faith!!!
Free Music Review: still a pretty good record over 20 years later... Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is pretty darn good, and has stood the test of time, at least for me. There are many good songs on this. I heard "Father Figure" on the radio today for the first time in a while, and it still sent chills down my spine. I think that is just a lovely song, and it brought back special memories for me. I also particularly like the last song on the CD, "A Last Request". I can still picture most of the videos George Michael made for songs from this album, the "I want your sex" and "Father Figure" videos stand out most in my mind. I was (obviously) younger and more naive back in the late 80s when this came out, so I thought George Michael really liked girls back then. All that aside, this is still a great album, and I highly recommend it.
