Free Music Notes for Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best of George MichaelFree Music Review: Essential Collection Hit: 5 Stars
George Michael's career retrospective Ladies And Gentlemen: The Best of George Michael, is a must have. The first disc titled "for the heart" is a collection of George's greatest ballads, 14 tracks, everything from Jesus to a Child, You Have Been Loved, Careless Whisper, Cowboys and Angels, and more. The second disc is titled "for the feet", a collection of his upbeat dance numbers such as Fastlove, Freedom, Spinning The Wheel, Hard Day, Monkey, I Want Your Sex, I Knew You Were Waiting and more, a total of 14 more tracks. This is 28 song collection and Epic does a wonderful job of getting the hits here. George Michael has made some of the most memorable music and this a collection of his best, so you can remember all those great songs that you once loved, perhaps you still do. Essential.
Free Music Review: Now all we need is a b-sides album Hit: 5 Stars
I was so glad to hear the remix of "Monkey" coming out of my stereo. I have been trying to get my hands on that since the video originally came out. That alone made this a worthwile purchase for me. However, this collection has much more to offer. It gives an excellent overview of George's solo career (complete with some "I'm George the sex object" photos witch make me a little sick), though in typical George fashion, there are very few liner notes. My only complaints are the ommission of the Mary J. Blige duet, the fact that the intros on both "Careless Whisper" and "A Different Corner" have been deleted, and the choice of "Heal the Pain" over "Something to Save." Other than that, it's completely diggable.
Free Music Review: Phenomenal collection! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this double CD the week it came out in 1998. I loved a lot of the songs on there! The ballads still sound good, thought the first CD tends to drag in the middle. His remake of the Bonnie Raitt song isn't all that exciting. I still like Mother's Child, Jesus To A Child, Older, Praying for Time, One More Try from Faith (his best ballad), Father Figure and others. But the second CD says a lot about George Michael as an artist! He can tear it up on songs like the Monkey remix, Too Funky, Fastlove, Outside, Faith, and one other song from Faith. Although George's recent albums have not sold as well, this collection represents the best from his three solo albums, songs from soundtracks, and live performances. It showcases him as a solid performer, musician and songwriter.
Free Music Review: Few can match him Hit: 5 Stars
If you're looking for WHAM! forget it, although there is a WHAM BEST OF available seperately. This is all about George Michaels SOLO material, as my header states few can match him-vocally-lyrically he's in a class of his own and this CD will demonstrate that, leaving you in no doubt of the mans ability.
If you are a fan of music at all you will find it hard to dislike this CD. Great ballads, sung with oodles of clarity and class, Jesus To A Child must have had the Sony Exec's pulling their hair out in jealousy, superb. It covers all the bases from his early solo releases like Careless Whisper and A Different Corner to his late 90's stuff like Fastlove and Outside. All in all probably the best collection by one of, if not "THE" best singers ever to grace the charts.
Free Music Review: Innovation conceived as inspiration! Hit: 5 Stars
The talent and good taste are factors that have supported and molded the astonishing and brilliant career of this notable artist. The impeccable and surprising musical arrangements make of Michael a true living legend, just a few artists know to keep the profile and originality through the time.
From Jesus to a child to Careless whispers, there is great blend of known rhythms, and inspired themes that seem to reinvent themselves day after day.
Like the Beatles four decades ago, this untiring capacity of self renovation makes this set remains as true timelessness songs that will reward you by far today and for a long time.
That quality that so many seek and just a few can find it is the symptom of genius.
