Free Music Notes for Songs From the Last CenturyFree Music Review: The best of his career Hit: 5 Stars
I hear this CD as his best work to date as I can tell that he recorded this doing exactly the way HE wanted to. The passion is strong through each song and the re-inventions are worthy of the work.I also want to tell George (since I believe he will read this someday) "I get it". Which I doubt more than 1% of the world did. It clicked after a few plays. For people that liked this or other George Michael work, I highly reccomend the new CD "Revival" by Sam Harris. As well as his "Standard Time". Thanks George. It's absolutely wonderful!
Free Music Review: George has matured - so should his audience! Hit: 5 Stars
The reviewers (including Amazon US) who are expecting another version of Wham! Rap need a severe rap on the head. George has matured and chooses these songs becuase (as it says in the sleve notes) he likes them and describes the recording process "as the most fun he has had in the studio".If you like quality songs, with fabulous arrangements, sung by one of the finest voices on the last decade then this is for you. Sure these are cover versions but most of the rest of his work has been original.
Free Music Review: Superb Hit: 5 Stars
This is exactly what I've been waiting for years since the days of "Final" in 1986. I must admit that if you are a fan of WHAMish songs, this album is not for you. However, if you love G. Michael's vocal, then go for it and stack a couple of this CD, because you'll either wear them out fast or give them to your loved ones. What else can I say?.. Very well chosen songs, meaningful music and a superb, soft, jazzy vocal. I guess this is real George, or at least what I've wanted to hear from him...
Free Music Review: Unbelievable - Unexpected - Go George Hit: 5 Stars
I've always enjoyed this man as an artist. When I read some of the reviews I thought this sounds interesting - mellow, jazzy, old classics and frankly I would've bought it anyway. Listen once, then twice. The third time your convinced this evolution is a natural for his talents. I can't wait for more. First Time Ever I Saw Your Face competes handsomely with Roberta Flack's version. Play this alone or in a random mix with Diana Krall and your relaxing with some great music.
Free Music Review: A very good work! Hit: 5 Stars
Well, the only thing I don't understand here, is why so many critics and even ordinary people understimate this album! It's one of the best GM's works since Older. An ochestra score is superb and his voice is as never solid and the same time aerial. The songs are very sentiment, light. While listening to them you're floating somewhere in the sky. Besides, some of them are of nostalgia. If I could I woudl put 6 stars. If you liked Older, you'll like this one for sure!
