Free Music Review: We're Supposed To Do That Now And Then
Hit: 5 Stars

if you couldn't tell by the title I have beena George Strait fan since i can remember, and I am only sixteen, my dad is an official card carrying wrangler sporting, cowboy hat wearing, leather boot swaying cowboy, so i admit this migh be a little bit biased.

I can say that I bought this CD twice, once for myself and once as a present for my dad who owns almost all of his cd's save a few from the 90's.

However I have read some reviews that i have found dissapointment, blaming cut outs and fading, however you should understand that as mentioned there are many greatest hits cd's you can buy that have the older songs, adn this one is the first to include most of his newer, 1997-2004, hits and is a superb cd because it includes Georges music.

Also understand that in this age of illegal music swapping over the internet it is important to show support for the few musicians we truly care about, as the song on George's "Livin' It Up" CD from 1990 "We're Supposed To Do That Now And Then".

I suggest that if you are not a George Strait Fan you read another review as this might not be helpful other than that advice.

However, if you are like me and would serve under King George if he should become the King of Texas, than it is not quality of the CD that should matter, but the thought of supporting the man we hope will supply us with the traditional country music you and I love to love.

Free Music Review: George is where it's at.
Hit: 5 Stars

Most of the reviews here complain about how "chopped up" most of the songs are on these CD(s) are.

Well, you might ask....are they? yes.. but it's NOTHING like everyone is making it out to be. yes, they have been shortened slightly in order to fit every one of George's #1's onto two CDs, but thats to be expected. it makes a lot more sense to exclude a few seconds [by fading the ending of one track into the start of the next song] than if you left the track untouched and had to make this a 3 CD collection [with the third cd only having a few songs on it] rather than the 2 [CDs] it is now. it just makes more sense that they did it this way. if it were up to me, I would've done it like this too.

So can you notice that the songs have been slightly converted [i.e. fading the ending of one track into the start of the next song, etc]? yes... but ONLY if thats something you're TRYING to listen for. otherwise, it's not going to be something you'll notice, and it shouldn't be considered one of the downfalls when buying this, ESPECIALLY since the music is so enjoyable in itself.

If you're REALLY worried about losing a few seconds on a couple songs, then by all means you should go out and buy George's other CDs. but, if you're like me and don't mind something so unnoticeable, than this [really good] collection is for you. theres nothing wrong with it in my book.

Free Music Review: It's George, so I give it five stars
Hit: 5 Stars

I love George Strait. He is the uncrowned king of country, and anybody who has listened to him and bought his records over the years know and love "King George." And if you listen to the opening vocals on songs like 'Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind,' you'll instantly know why.

While I have panned this release in some of my other George reviews (see 'Greatest Hits' where I complain about the really bad edits), I listened to this release and realized the edits aren't bad at all. Now yes, they ARE still edited, and that won't change, but if you're just avoiding this release because of the edits, they aren't that bad.

Disc one is where the classic George is. It features the new song 'I Hate Everything,' and the rest is the George from 1981-1992. The classic stuff starts with 'Fool Hearted Memory,' and ends with his role as Dusty in 'Pure Country' with the song 'I Cross My Heart,' which is the best song from the soundtrack.

Disc two features his most recent songs, including 'True,' 'You Can't Make A Heart Love Somebody,' 'Write This Down,' 'Check Yes Or No' and 'The Big One.' The edits here are, I think, worse than on disc one. But they aren't terrible, either.

Overall, this is highly recommended for a casual George fan. Not a bad set despite the edits.

Recommended. ENJOY!!!

Free Music Review: Fantastic collection!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a huge George Strait fan, having most of his CDs, Strait Out of the Box, and I was even on set for the Mirage scene at the end of Pure Country. I love this set! The cuts are sometimes annoying, like when Easy Come, Easy Go fades out too early, but it's a similar fade to what you would get with listening to it on the radio. As someone else mentioned, if you can't live without those last few seconds, get the CDs themselves, otherwise, it's great to have them all together. I do definitely notice that's there's only about a second between tracks instead of the usual two seconds, but I think that's an improvement once I got used to it. For those little problems, I would probably give it a 4.5 if that were possible. Even though I already have most of these songs on CDs, it's great to have them all together! Unfortunately, some of George's best known songs didn't make it to #1, including Amarillo By Morning and The Fireman or The Cowboy Rides Away. I guess it just goes to show you that a song doesn't have to make it to #1 to be memorable.

And what an accomplishment, George! Here's to 50 more!

Free Music Review: George Strait at his very 5 Stars

George Strait has had a continueous impact on country music. He is the most consistent artist, and we know how difficult that can be. He has stayed true to number one; himself.George really loves what he does and it shows in his life, and his music. His roots run deep, he's country through and through. His music is so real life, that all of his fans can relate to it. Theres never been a single George Strait song that I didn't like. Even the ones that weren't chart toppers. I always know what to expect from George, and he always delivers. What a tremedous career he has had. 51 number ones in ones career is quite an accomplishment! Way to go George!!!!!!!!! I love this collection, being able to have everyone of his number ones on two cd's is terrific. If I hadn't received this as a birthday gift I'd have bought it myself, If I could have found it. It is in high demand by all of Georges fans:) My advice is if you love George buy it! If your new to the country genre or not sure about George, Buy It!!!!!!!!! What a gift to country music he continues to be.
