Free Music Notes for Schizophonic

Free Music Review: IMPRESSIVE
Hit: 5 Stars

Yeah yeah yeah, sooo many of the maniac Spice Girl-oholics that were crushed when Geri Halliwell left her role as Ginger Spice, but it seems all for the best. I always thought she had a singing talent that she could never use that much since people from the group like Melanie B (now known as Melanie G) and Melanie C always got lead vocals. Geri was stuck writing much of each songs. So maybe that's why she left. But....SCHIZOPHONIC is very impressive. Upbeat, ballad-ful, heartening, and cool, it brings out Halliwell's talent as a solo musician. So what if she doesn't have a Celine Dion voice? Who needs that kind of voice every day? No one. Of course the best song is the single. That's usually how it is when a doubted artist releases a CD. "Look At Me" is that single. It was the same with Jennifer Lopez's debut. However, I like alot from this album. My favorite is "Look At Me" but I do enjoy songs like "Lift Me Up", "Mi Chico Latino", and most of all...."You're In A Bubble"-a teenybopper call to Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know". Well, check it out for yourself. You will also be possibly surprised at Halliwell's lyrics. In "You're In A Bubble" she labels a woman a "b*tch" about 4 times. Impressive. Yep, impressive. Go get the CD, people!

Free Music Review: Spicy Fun!!! A Must Have
Hit: 5 Stars

The Spice Girls were an amazing girl group, and though they disbanded and will never recapture that magic on thier own, we must look to the solo spice girls for our dose of spicy pop music. Sadly Geri, Emma, Victoria, Mel B, and Mel C, have all steered somewhat away from that fun pop music they used to make so they can make "serious music" but thank goodness for Geri. Schizophonic is the closest thing to a Spice Girls Record to come from a Solo SPice. Though all there albums are good, this one is fun and catchy and tongue in cheek without trying to be too serious. At Ten tracks the album is short and sweet. Though some tracks are completely forgetable (Someones Watching Over Me) but for the most part everything is campy and cute. Geris voice is harsh but not unpleasent. "Look at me" starts things off on the right tone with trumpets and 60s style swing. "Lift Me Up" is pretty soft rock and that keeps things from getting over obnoxious. And "Mi Chico Latino" adds some latin flavors and is a Standout track. "walkway" is the albums strongest ballads refrencing her departure from the Spice Girls. This album is fun, not incredibly cool, but its unique campyness is refreshing and lighthearted.

STANDOUTS!!!
1. Look at me
2. Lift me up
3. Walkway
4. Mi Chico latino
5. Goodnight Kiss
6. Bag It Up

Free Music Review: GERI'S BACK FOR GOOD!
Hit: 5 Stars

this is geri's first ever solo album, and now by listening to this cd you can understand what she ment when she left the spice girls saying she has grown up more than the girls. There are 10 songs on the album, that go through pop/jazz/ and some really good ballads. The highlights of the cd are 'LOOK AT ME', 'LIFT ME UP', 'WALKAWAY', 'MI CHICO LATINO', 'SOMEONE'S WATCHING OVER ME', and the standout track 'BAG IT UP'. Her voice is much better than in either 'SPICE', or 'SPICEWORLD', and the songs (all), and the videos are really good. But this cd shine, so, it deserves a closer look. LOOK AT ME: a brilliant come back, with good lyrics. LIFT ME UP: an uplifting song with a summery tune WALKAWAY: did u know why she left the group? here you have it all! MI CHICO LATINO: a spanish flavoured track, with good guitars. GOODNIGHT KISS: a jazz/soul track. Really good. BAG IT UP: this is a 70's disco song. Excellent. Very funky. SOMETIME: geri's voice complemented by a choir, but sudennly it becomes an energetic-screaming song. LET ME LOVE YOU: good lyrics with an indian vibe. SOMEONE'S WATCHING OVER ME: geri's song to her father, really sweet, and sad. YOU ARE IN A BUBBLE: Geri rapping, and talking. good lyrics. There is only one bad thing about the album, it has got only 10 songs! Geri, keep up the good work!

Free Music Review: In Your Face
Hit: 5 Stars

Forget the Spice Scandal. Forget what you thought you knew. Halliwell has an average voice, average material, and yet somehow manages to produce a superior CD. Unlike the former quintet's albums, there's no question of studio enhancement. This album is all Halliwell. Her voice isn't fantastic, but it isn't the disappointment critics would have you believe. She has this fat, juicy tone which combined with her perfect timing and delicious delivery shows that she's a power to be reckoned with. With proper vocal training, Halliwell can go much farther. Her sexy alto voice is sublime, and while you can hear the thinness when attempting higher notes and full range delivery, I suspect this is more to do with improper technique than lack of talent. More sophisticated than her Spice Girls releases, Schizophonic is a tour-de-force, which takes the listener on a fun ride. At times, it very much sounds like a collection of early Madonna hits -- listen to it closely and you'll see for yourself. Halliwell can't go wrong trying to live up to her idol. Madonna shrugged off jealous criticism and snickery and matured in both her persona and her material, sticking it to those who wrote her off.

Buy the album and see for yourself. Don't expect Streisand, but expect a lot of fun. You won't be disappointed.

Free Music Review: A GIRL POWERful debut
Hit: 5 Stars

When Geri Halliwell left the Spice girls, everyone thought she was going to fade into oblivion. But that girl's got something up her sleeve. Barely a year later, she's back with a solo album that is set to blow everyone's minds. "Schizophonic", according to the CD booklet, means "split vocals", which roughly translates into "geri split from spice girls". As such, she offers a glimpse into her crazy life post-spice, livin' la vida style. Many of her songs, like the current single "Look at me", and "bag it up", sound very different from anything the Spice girls have ever done. And that is what she has in mind anyway. In it all, she shows a maturity and flair fans never expected from Ginger. The video for "look at me" features a funeral possession for her spice persona, and as a band of people shed tears for the former "drag queen of platform", the new Geri is born. Beautiful, talented and absolutely reborn, like she has finally found redemption for her "sins". This recording is definitely highly-recommended for all the Spice-non believers, because like Scary, Sporty, Posh and baby, Geri is proving to the whole world that girl power RULES!!!! And it will definitely rule for a long time to come.
