Free Music Review: A great CD Hit: 4 StarsI bought this CD and her 1st CD after reading both of Geri's auto-biographies. Since the spice girl's reunion I have been revisiting their songs and wanted to listen to some solo music. Although i wasn't a fan of theirs the 1st time around I definitely am this time especially Geri.
This CD is fantastic! There are a bunch of great dance songs. The song Scream if you wanna go Faster is awesome. It gets me going and pumps me up. I listen to it before a workout or anytime I need a pick me up. Same with heaven and hell.
Calling is also a fantastic more mellow song. Geri finally shows that YES she can sing and sing well. All in all a great CD worth every penny. I'm going to buy Passion her last solo CD after listening to this. Also go on You Tube and watch the videos. They are great!
Free Music Review: "It's heaven, it's hell being Geri Halliwell..." Hit: 4 StarsScream If You Wanna Go Faster by Geri Halliwell was a very catchy album in 2001 but this cd is a bit dated now. Halliwell was never known as a strong vocalist but she has spunk and fun with each of her albums. This was my last Geri album, never was interested in her music again. There are some highlights from this album especially the songs, Stength of a Woman, Don't Call Me Baby, I Was Made That Way, and Circles Round the Moon. Just buy this album if you are a complete Geri nut!
Free Music Review: Scream is an understatement Hit: 4 StarsAfter purchasing Schizophonic on Amazon I decided to give Scream a try. It took awhile for the album to wear on me. But it is an album I still listen to. Sometimes after a long day I'll play it and it always gets to me. Especially "Circles Round the Moon". One of the prettiest love songs I've heard in a long while. It is more of a playful pretty love song. But it is my fave. "Don't Call Me Baby" reminds me of the song "Stop" by the Spice Girls. Proabably the same writers. I was amazed that Dave from the Eurythmics worked on this album, as did the man who engineered a lot of the Eurythmics' albums. I always liked the New Radicals and I like his rock contribution to the album. For some reason the song and video for Scream IYWGF always reminds me of that Garbage song "Special." Overall a good album although I didn't purchase it for the #1 remake of Its raining Men. I loved this era of Geri when she got fit and into athletics and rock.
Free Music Review: Barely ok Hit: 2 StarsI don't own any of Geri's albums; a friend had it and I'm always on the lookout for good music and I was a Spice Girls fan, so I decided to give it a listen. Geri has a nasally voice, and I guess you have to like her to accept it. This is not an atrocious album, but it's not really good either. Check out her first one "Schizophrenic". It's much better. Two songs do I like are "I was made that way". And "Don't call me baby". It has a swinging 60's sound to it. But I swear that she sampled that from Vanessa Paradis' "Be my baby". They almost sound identical! Yet I think I like Geri's version better, even though I do like Vanessa's. But Geri's a different type of artist; she doesn't really fall into a category with the way her voice sounds, and the songs she puts out. It's like she's quirky, old school, and fun pop all in one. I think she has potential. her best asset is the songwriting. She seems to write on things other than the usual pop star fluff: I love a guy, I go to clubs with my friends, why isn't this guy calling?, e.t.c. Would she have been successful with her albums if she hadn't been in the Spice Girls previously? In my opinion, yes and no. She would defintely get some sales and some press, but not as much as whatever she has had.
