OKAY, WE ALL KNOW THAT GERI HALLIWELL IS NOT THE WORLD'S GREATEST VOCALIST. YET, SHE IS CERTAINLY NOT THE WORST EITHER. THIS ALBUMS PROVES THAT GERI IS MATURING AND BECOMING STRONGER AND MORE COMFORTABLE WITH EACH PROJECT SHE WORKS ON.'CIRCLES AROUND THE MOON' IS MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE. GERI SHOWS, WITH THIS PARTICULAR TRACK, THAT SHE HAS BECOME A MORE SOULFUL SINGER WHO IS STARTING TO FEEL EACH NOTE OF THE MUSIC. 'GINGER SPICE' STILL MANAGES TO SHINE THROUGH IN FUNKY, JUST PLAIN FUN TRACKS LIKE 'SHAKE YOUR BOOTIE CUTIE;' WHICH PROVES THAT YOU CAN NEVER TOTALLY GET AWAY FROM YOUR PAST. GERI, OF COURSE, IS A MUCH BETTER SINGER NOW.
HAVING LISTENED TO THIS ALBUM ALL THE WAY THROUGH, IT IS MOST DEFINATELY BETTER THAN GERI'S FIRST SOLO PROJECT. GERI HAS A WAY OF LIFTING YOUR SPIRITS WITH HER CAUSUAL APPROACH TO EACH SONG SHE RECORDS. THERE IS NOTHING HARD-EDGED ABOUT GERI'S SINGING. YET, HER VOCAL STRENGTH AND RANGE SEEMS TO HAVE IMPROVED.
EVEN THOUGH HER ALBUM HAS YET TO BE RELEASED IN THE U.S, GERI FANS WILL BE SATISFIED TO KNOW THAT IT IS DEFINATELY WORTH THE WAIT.

Geri Halliwell is back with another huge dose of pop. She's been away ahwile, but the wait was well worth it! Her first single "It's Raining Men" was a smash hit in the UK, coming in at #1 on the UK Charts. Other noteworthy tracks to watch out for would be the title song, "Scream If You Wanna Go Faster", "Feels Like Sex", and "Shake Your Bootie Cutie." "Scream If You Wanna Go Faster" is a high energy song full of a definite feel good vibe. Be careful if your driving your car and listening to this song, you will lose all rational thought and start to dance without warning!! "Feels Like Sex" is remeniscent to a George Micheal sound. We see Geri really pushing her limits with this one. Strong Sexual Content! "Shake Your Bootie Cutie" was written when Geri saw Ricky Martin live in concert. Enough said. This album's style is a little different from her last album, "Schizophonic." But her sophmore effort only shows how she has matured both lyrically and musically.Free Music Review: Surprisingly Consistent

As much as I love Geri's first offering (in particular the ultra-catchy Bag It Up & the touching Someone's Watching Over Me), I was sceptical & dubious about Geri's follow up after the horrendous cover version of the Weather Grls 'classic', It's Raining Men. Imagine my surprise then to see that this album is choc-full of fun & titillating pop music which is good to go, from the rip-roaring title track to personal faves Feels Like Sex, Shake Your Bootie Cutie & the narcissistic 60s style of Heaven & Hell (Being Gerie Halliwell). Geri also shows she's much more confident with her singing voice these days & delivers quite a few slower type songs 'for the heart', most notably in her most recent UK Top 10 single Calling. The album is not a contender for Q Magazine's Album of The Year but it does succeed in delivering what audiences expect from Geri Halliwell, fun pop music. After purchasing Schizophonic on Amazon I decided to give Scream a try. It took awhile for the album to wear on me. But it is an album I still listen to. Sometimes after a long day I'll play it and it always gets to me. Especially "Circles Round the Moon". One of the prettiest love songs I've heard in a long while. It is more of a playful pretty love song. But it is my fave. "Don't Call Me Baby" reminds me of the song "Stop" by the Spice Girls. Proabably the same writers. I was amazed that Dave from the Eurythmics worked on this album, as did the man who engineered a lot of the Eurythmics' albums. I always liked the New Radicals and I like his rock contribution to the album. For some reason the song and video for Scream IYWGF always reminds me of that Garbage song "Special." Overall a good album although I didn't purchase it for the #1 remake of Its raining Men. I loved this era of Geri when she got fit and into athletics and rock.Free Music Review: She's not Ginger Spice any more

Instead she's some kind of strange blend of American TV star and srpport act for the CARRY ON comedies. "It'a Raining Men" was never the world's most difficult song but it does call for a singer with a powerful voice like the original duo who sang it, the Weather Girls. Why give this to Geri to carry? Surely something more suitable could ave been found, like Lee Hazelwood's "Some Velvet Morning," a tune written in such a tiny range that even Kate Moss does a reputable job with it in a duet with Primal Scream on their DIRTY HITS LP.
Still it's a rousing album with plenty of assured vocals from Ms. Halliwell. I think she's finally found her groove, but her weight loss and gain will keep her from finding an identity in the US because no way, no how will she ever again look like the skinny rake she plays on the cover.
