Free Music Notes for Scream If You Want to Go FasterFree Music Review: Carry the girl power torch, Baby G! Hit: 5 Stars
First off, I love Geri Halliwell more than I did when she was in the Spice Girls. I was always more of a Scary Spice kinda guy and adored Sporty's vocal power. With that said, I was willing to purchase Geri's first album "Schizophonic" without expecting a whole lot from her. To my surprise, I loved every last bit of it. It was quite clear that Ms. Halliwell's talents were squashed by the whole of the Spice Girls machine. Now comes the second offering from my girl Geri. I must admit I was never a fan of the old disco chestnut, "It's Raining Men". I didn't really know why until I heard Geri's version. I just didn't like the Weather Girls. I can't get enough of this song!! Geri's version is great and reminds me of the scene in "Bridget Jones's Diary" in which it was played. It sports total energy and enthusiasm. Beyond that initial single, one would wonder if ol' Ginge' would be able to repeat the brilliance of her debut CD. Indeed she could and she HAS! The opening strains of "Scream" pretty much sum up the content of this disc. It's a wild and sunny ride all the way through. Many of the tracks have a retro feel to them, whether it's in late 60s pop, the 70s "California" sound to 80s pop/dance. This album isn't mired in its retro-styled sensibilities, but rather it is very much an album of the moment and you will LOVE being in it! I'm pretty sure that the other reviews will give you an idea of what the songs are like so I don't wish to go into a full expository of them. I just wanted to give you an idea of why I liked this disc. Unlike the Spice Girls's last album "Forever", in which they experienced a "Girl Power Brown-Out" of sorts, Geri is showing us that "Girl Power" is alive and well. The feeling of this disc is that of exuberance, humour and an overall appreciation of all that life has to offer. That's not such a bad thing to have in YOUR life... is it?

Free Music Review: Ginger Spice no more Hit: 5 Stars
Okay, Geri Halliwell has taken a lot of gruff because she was a Spice Girl, but I am here to tell you she has shedded that image once and for all with this album. I am assuming that after that disappointing sales of Schizophonic, she wanted to stay focused mainly in the UK and other parts of the world. It's really a loss for U.S. Halliwell fans because this album is a huge improvement over Schizophonic. It sounds like she is actually enjoying herself, whereas her previous album sounded forced. Unlike sticking to one genre like her ex-spice counterparts, she tries to make a bit of everthing: A little bit of techno and a little bit of pop. My favorite track is Love is the Only Light. Geri shows a lot of range as she is not about just fast paced stuff. I didn't particularly care for the remake of It's Raining Men since I never liked the original. Heaven and Hell (Being Geri halliwell) is a great track where Geri is tongue-in-cheek about what it is like being her. She quotes a few lines from the movie "Fame" as well.Overall, it's not to bad and thankfully she set out what she wanted to do, and that was shed her Ginger Spice image.
Free Music Review: She's back, again.... Hit: 5 Stars
She's back...faster, feistier and happier than ever. That's right, Geri Halliwell has done it again. Another solo album with fun catchy music and nonetheless man powering lyrics. her sophmore album starts with 'scream if you wanna go faster' <the title track> which is a song that'll make you wanna slam the gas and go a buck ten. She also covers the Weather Girls 'It's Raining Men'. Her producers pumped up the song with a bit of a techno beat and Geri switched a bit of the lyrics on us. AWESOME SONG. It spent alot of time on the UK charts and the video is a must see. Other great songs are... 'Calling' <a sweet love ballad> 'Circles Round the Moon' <cute love song> 'Heaven and Hell' <how she feels about being famous> & 'I Was Made That Way' <expresses her feelings towards a man she uses for innapropriate reasons> The album is worth while and so are the unreleased songs on the singles from 'Scream If You Wanna Go Faster'. The CD is not as good as her first but is definitely right behind it. Just listen to the songs that BORDER'S allows you to preview....and see for yourself
