Free Music Review: raw, crusty, lightning speed!
Hit: 5 Stars

Now this album is something else. I was laughing because of the one review I saw saying you must have some insane reason to like the germs. This is actually pretty true, you sort of need a different appreciation of music for this collection. It certainly is raw stuff, they don't spare on sounding like they know exactly what they are doing. a lot of songs though really come together like lexicon devil, media blitz, communist eyes etc. then there are songs like "shut down" which is some 8 minutes of mess. vocals range from pretty crusty to completely raspy to inaudible. Caught in my eye has a chorus saying "I got you caught in my eye" and he sounds kind of like an old man coughing up a hairball or a loogee when singing the word 'eye'. so this probably isn't making the CD too appetizing to you but it really is good stuff. straight up late 70's crusty punk. fast drums, muffled rockin guitars, crusty raspy like fast paced vocals. the germs got it all!

Free Music Review: germs forever
Hit: 5 Stars

everyone...bow your heads, shut up, and listen, cuz the germs were IT. i am AMAZED when i talk to newer generation punks and they haven't heard of this band. MIA, the cd which gathers together their essential output (go get germicide and all the bootlegs!!!),is a non-stop lesson in humility for anyone who wanted to start a punk band. lead screamer Darby Crash and guitarist Pat Smear were the Lennon-MCcartney of punk rock. i fell in love with this cd ten years ago and i STILL listen to it more than any other cd i have. uber-punk Darby wrote incredible lyrics and Pat wrote the book on fast, hardcore punk guitar. drummer Don Bolles brought things up to SPEED and bassist Lorna Doom kept it all in the garage, plunking away and making sure we all knew what DIY meant. i've listened to EVERYTHING, and i always go back to MIA.

Free Music Review: Where's your Germs burn??
Hit: 5 Stars

I first hear this band a few years ago on a compilation tape, and "Land of Treason" was the first song on it. I was hooked immediately. The Germs were such a powerful (and literate, I might add) band that they still have a special place in my heart today. This is what happens when you combine poetry with raw agression. You may not be able to pick up the poetic nuances from Darby when he's singing, but read the lyrics, because they will blow your mind! The man's one of my heroes! Over all, this band was punk rock when there was such a thing as punk rock. All those (...) who think Blink-182 is punk rock should listen to this CD, and, after they are finished going through their seizures, maybe then they will know what punk rock really is...

Free Music Review: An Essential CD
Hit: 5 Stars

The Germs are one of the greatest bands to ever live. If you like punk, hardcore, or anything in between, this album is for you. If you like Good Charlotte then you need to look elsewhere.

This Cd is great because it has all of their songs that were professionally recorded. It has 2 versions of Forming and 2 versions of Lexicon Devil. If you were a part of the LA punk scene, you need to get this immediatly! If you are getting into punk this is a good place to start also.

Darby Crash had an unforgetable voice, some say it was horrible, in some ways, that is true, but no body can immitate his voice. I like his voice because it is boarderlined between yelling and a pirate!

Get this CD, it's worth every penny!

Free Music Review: Simply amazing...
Hit: 5 Stars

This is an amazing collection of all of the Germs' known recordings, from the single "Forming/ Sexboy" to tracks designed for a movie (that only used one). This album is full of raucous energy and nihilistic, confrontational lyrics designed to shock and offend. From the drawn out drone of Forming, to the sing along chorus of What We Do Is Secret, this album practically reverberates with energy. From start to finish, it's a fun ride. It begins with Forming, and ends in full circle with Forming 2, in which Darby Crash namechecks Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten. One of the best punk albums ever.

And yes, this is a real review, not some record store label thing summary they give the album to sell it... I actually talk that way.
