Free Music Notes for Geto Boys - Greatest HitsFree Music Review: Great CD from a great group Hit: 5 StarsAfter a dozen or so years in the rap game, Rap-A-Lot releases some of the finer songs the Geto Boys have put out on 1 album. With 16 songs, you get some of their finer moments all on 1 album, and I think they probably could have put together a 2 disc hits album and still made it a 4.5 or 5 star album. Of the 16 songs, you get the lead man, Scarface, on 13 of the 16, Bushwick Bill is on 10, Willie D is on 8, and Big Mike is on 3 (he was only in the group for a short period of time when Willie D left, then came back a few years later). Of the 16 songs, 1 is a classic, 2 are ok, and the other 13 are good or real good songs. Production is great and no credits are given but mostly handled by Mike Dean, N.O. Joe, and John Bido. A must have album from one of raps greatest groups, if you don't have all the other albums.

Free Music Review: Geto Boys - Greatest Hits Hit: 5 StarsThe Geto Boys "Greatest Hits" (2002) is an album I would recommend for any Rap collection. The Houston group was formed over two decades ago (1986) and today consists of Scarface (A.K.A. Brad Jordan), Willie D (A.K.A. Willie James Dennis) & Bushwick Bill (A.K.A. Richard Shaw). Three of the original members of the group moved on (DJ Ready Red, Jukebox and Prince Johnny C) very early in the groups career, while MC Big Mike served shortly as a temporary replacement when Willie D pursued a solo career. All three members of the group would pursue solo careers, with Scarface's being the most successful. They would split and reunite on two occasions, getting back together in 2005 for the "The Foundation". Track's on that release are not included on this release - noteable among those are the excellent "G Gode" and "Yes, Yes, Y'All". Collectively the trio delivered classic music which should not be slept on.
My favourite track's on this release are:
"Mind Playin' Trick's" - The Geto's Boys most successful single from the album "We Can't Be Stopped" (1991) - an outstanding story about the way one's thoughts get twisted when someones trying to kill them, praying to god and looking for an exit out of the game. The track samples Isaac Hayes "Hung Up On My Baby".
"Six Feet Deep" - Geto Boys created the ultimate R.I.P. track with this exceptional dedication to good friends who have died in the game. This track which was the lead single "Till Death Do Us Part" (1993) samples the Commodore's "Easy". Scarface, Big Mike & Bushwick Bill shine on this release while taking their audience through a funeral, reflecting on a good friends life, and the consequences of the choices we make.
"Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta" - Backed by some upbeat production the Geto Boys delivered another classic with this cut, full of outstanding lyrics. Scarface, Willie D & Bushwick Bill shine on this 1999 cut which was featured on "Office Space: The Motion Picture Soundtrack".

Free Music Review: good stuff Hit: 5 StarsThis is what real hip/hop is all about and it really can't get much better. Great compilation.
Free Music Review: Where's Do It Like A G.O. Hit: 4 StarsHow you gonna have a greatest hits CD and you don't include their first hit that put the GETO BOYS on the map? That's straight retarded. However, the rest of the lp is dope and I loved they put "Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangster" on the joint as well as a lot of the songs with Big Mike in the group. Willie D, though is hardcore as they come, can't touch Big Mike's jockstrap when it comes to skills on a mic. If you're looking to get Geto Boys music without having to buy all the Lp's this is a perfect start.
