Free Music Notes for Ghost Dog: The Way Of The Samurai - The AlbumFree Music Review: Dark and Banging Hit: 5 Stars
rza recycles a couple beats to good effect like speeding up Shadowboxing to make (duh) Fast Shadow, which is a dope track featuring meth, dirt, rza, and mastakilla. MastaKilla is disgusting with Superb on the Man as well, and Rza's Samurai Showdown is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. The beat is the theme throughout the movie, and he just rips it (and I wont hesitate for a second to break your back like Big Jack from Tekken) The beats are complex and sick, they change up and have bridges. The vocals are laid amazingly with a bit of cloudiness sometimes which I think is intentional. Jeru comes clean over a rza beat that I think comes from a ShogunAssassin sample that he used in one of the interludes from Liquid Swords. Sunz of Man and La The Darkman come hard, and all in all, this is just a great release. It doesn't contain ALL the songs from the movie, only new ones. (killah priest's from then till now isn't on there or the reggae song). All in all, its definitely a true rza project and its not bobby digitally themed for those that hated. It shows his new musical direction that's still as razor sharp and innovative as its always been. Since the ghostface album and this, I think rza is getting wholly back into music after what seemed like a small bout of laziness or lack of inspiration or something. I'm glad to see it.

Wu-tang has come back in it's purest form. Supreme Clientele was really good and so were a lot of the Wu second round albums. This is the only one of them that sounded a lot like 36 chambers. This isn't close to that level but it has that kung-fu sound. I really like the quotes from Forest Whitaker. I really want to see this movie now, thanks to this well done Soundtrack. All of the beats are produced by RZA, and so of course they are all very good. All the rappers do well but, there is only 1 wu-tang song! (not counting songs by Masta killa and Rza by themselves.) That is really alright though because 2 of my favorite songs are done by people I have never heard of: 4 sho sho ,and Zip Code i also like the final track by RZA Samarai showdown. What is the deal with the missing Killarmy track i really like them! Over all this is a very good cd that I am now addicted to. Only problems: should have a couple more complete wu-tang songs , way to short! Wu-tang is back on top,and I can't wait for the next Wu album to come out, and of course the amazing cappachino coming this summer! Good RZa! and Good Jim Marusch, forest whitaker
Free Music Review: The movie is great the soundtrack is even better Hit: 5 Stars
What could be more appropriate for a movie about the super-warriors of the Far East than a soundtrack put together by Wu-Tang Clan founder/member RZA? The GHOST DOG soundtrack is another gem from the Shaolin genius. Here he produces, writes, performs, and collaborates with other Wu members to lend the film its diverse musical landscape.
"Strange Eyes" rocks steady with a blues-guitar-and-organ loop, while Sunz of Man, 12 O'Clock, and Blue Raspberry hold down the rhymes. "Stay with Me," a soulful expression of urban loneliness, pairs 12 O' Clock with Melodie. One of the hottest tracks on the soundtrack is "Cakes," featuring Kool G Rap and RZA on the mic.
Other tracks worth checking out include RZA's collaborations with Black Knights ("Zip Code"), Masta Killa & Superb ("The Man"), and Tekitha ("Walkin' Thru the Darkness," where RZA takes you on a '70s-soundtrack trip). The GHOST DOG soundtrack is a must for loyal Wu-heads, and "Fast Shadow" even reveals a special Wu-Tang Clan surprise.
Free Music Review: Rza's outdone himself Hit: 5 Stars
This album shows the growth and versatility of the Wu Tang empire. With wisdom injected at seven intervals, the artists drop soulful and eclectic bangers. The theme song from Ghost Dog, with Rza's vocals (Samurai Showdown) is straight dope. Fast Shadow, reminiscent of the Gravediggaz, is the first Wu Banger of the 21st century. Cakes is straight ill, though the production sounds kinda like Mathematics. Suga Bang Bang rips some dancehall material, Tekitha shines, and Masta Killah and Superb drop a slamming track. I wasnt really feeling the Jeru and Afu Ra song (they're both overrated) or the North Star "For Sho Sho" but it's all good. It would have been better if Rza used his other theme song, even as an instrumental, but this here is still straight dope material. Cop it.
Free Music Review: Rock the House, boyee! Hit: 5 Stars
Yes, I love this soundtrack. RZA did a chilling job putting this together, the Samurai quotes interspersed with the music are good, especially if you've seen the movie. (Which was great, especially loved the references to Flavor Flav: one scene showed this old mafia guy rubbing in hemorrhoid cream and singing a Flava song.) The songs all go together on this album, its cool like that, its got the beat, its got the flow, its one of the best. Especially like "Strange Eyes" and "Sho Sho" and Mastah Killa's "Man, The." This soundtrack is great for beginners just getting into the school of Hip Hop...Another chilling soundtrack to check out is 'He Got Game.' (It has Public Enemy, Mastah Killa, etc)
