Free Music Review: Nothing to complain about here... Hit: 4 Stars
What a great film! I had to go get the album - then i found out there were 2 albums! At first this pissed me off, i went away and got the japanese import for the instumentals. Excellent album but very short (under 35 minutes) and only 3 songs with speech. After a while i thought i'd get a copy of the more widely available soundtrack (the one above) and let me tell u this: IT IS EXCELLENT!!!. Stange Eyes, 4 Sho Sho, Stay With Me are all really great songs and my personal favourite from the album: Tekitha - Walking Through The Darkness. It uses an excellent sample of Across 110th Street by Bobby Womack with a simple beat.My advice, for those who like good hip hop this album is a great buy. For the die-hard Ghost Dog fans, don't just get the instrumentals, get both!
Free Music Review: Good Hip Hop beats from the Wu Tang Man Hit: 4 Stars
Like many people who saw Ghost Dog, I loved the film, especially Forrest Whittaker as Ghost Dog and I was very impressed by the soundtrack. You've probably already read that this is not the original film soundtrack, and this, in some ways, is quite annoying (I was really hoping they would have a full length version of the opening music, fantastic beat) but this could quite easily stand alone as a well made and interesting piece of rap/hip-hop. From the Technical wizard in the Wu Tang Clan, RZA, comes songs like the 70's inspired 'walking through the darkness' and the brilliant manic beats of 'fast shadow'. The other songs are pretty cool as well, check out 'strange eyes'- very chilled. This album is definately a grower
Free Music Review: Let's be realistic Hit: 4 Stars
A lot of people, including myself, are dissapointed that this version of the 'Ghost Dog' soundtrack does not feature the fantastic instrumentals that were used in the film. Honestly, this album does not make sense. It seems that the label wanted to release a comp. to push these tracks and their publishing. The sad thing is, most of these tracks are sick. They have nothing to do with the film but you get some dope beats and lyrics. Is this as good as any of the classic Wu albums? No way...but definitely better than and thing the Wu has put out in the last 4 years. Certainly better than the Bobby Digital albums.
Free Music Review: Its Good But Could be Better Hit: 4 Stars
The Rza once again delivers amazing beats and if u were to rate this album on just that it would get 5 stars but unfortunately some of the wu-fam members bring it down. Some who impressed me were of course the 9 core members but also La and Royal Fam. 12'Oclock and Sunz of Man came off nice also. For all the people askin bout the instrumental version there is one but it was only released in Japan. Im sure if people make enuff noize it would get released in the U.S. if it does look out could be the first fully instrumental to hit number one. peace out
