Free Music Notes for Ghost Dog: The Way Of The Samurai - The AlbumFree Music Review: Simple, Powerful & Beautiful Hit: 4 Stars
If you like to listen to powerful beats combined with simple song phrasing, you should consider this CD. I don't know if this would have worked as well had I not seen the film. But I did see the film and feel that the two (film & soundtrack) make a beautiful combination. I make this my film of the year. THIS IS NOT YOUR BIG BUDGET BLOCKBUSTER. For me, the soundtrack will stay in heavy 'road trip' rotation. I loved the last song (track 18) the best. I believe that this was more of the main theme than anything else I recall in the film.
Free Music Review: WU-BANGER 36 CHAMBER Hit: 4 Stars
YO, WORD I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS MOVIE YET, BUT IT DOES NOT MAKE THIS CD HORRILBLE. I WILL SEE THE MOVIE EVENTUALLY AND LOOK TO SEE WHY THE OTHER VIEWERS COMPLAINED HOW MOST OF THE SONGS FROM THE MOVIE WAS NOT ON THE SOUNDTRACK. THE ALBUM IS OFF THE HOOK TO ME EVEN THOUGH I HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET. STRIAGHT UP AND DOWN, PICK UP THE SOUNDTRACK IT IS LIKE ANOTHER CLASSIC PIECE FROM THE ULTIMATE "WU-TANG". AS LONG AS RZA IS BEHIND THE SCENCES OF THE ALBUM YOU ARE GUARANTEED A WU-BANGER FROM THE 36 CHAMBERS. I AM OUT. MY WORD!
Free Music Review: The new WU-BANGER Hit: 4 Stars
When you thought WU-TANG sucks, you must be crazy! RZA is WU's leader and he produced the whole album. You can found his voice back in 4 of the 12 numbers (7 numbers are just skits). Other WU talent of the old and new school are: BLACK KNIGHTS OF THE NORTSTAR, METHOD MAN, TEKITHA, 12 O'CLOCK, BLUE RASBERRY and more... On this album it comes clear that the WU is worldwide! You thought they were EASTCOAST? On this album are the WESTCOAST KILLABEES. Togheter with GHOSTFACE's new album SUPREME CLIENTELE the WU-TANG strikes again!
Free Music Review: Excellent choice of music by Jarmusch Hit: 4 Stars
Whenever I put this cd in a discman and walk around my city, I feel like Ghost Dog. The tracks are really good, RZA's shaolin-hooks was an excellent choice by Jarmusch, it captures the mood from the film to the full. Whitaker's readings from Hagakure adds to this already thight cd. I just wished they'd included some of the instrumentals from the movie, but overall this is a cd worth buying. Both if you liked the movie and if you appreciate the productions of RZA. Live by the code. Die by the code.
Free Music Review: The Way of the Wu Hit: 4 Stars
I heard this joint before it got released, so I've known for awhile what a lot of people are just finding out: this album is beautiful music. It's obvious that RZA decided to test the waters a little bit, but at the same time the music here is that vintage Wu sound that we've come to love and label as "classic." And it's RZA's succesful experimentation on this body of work that puts it on the same level as Bobby Digital musically, but surpasses it lyrically. Fine art.
