Free Music Notes for The Big Doe RehabFree Music Review: Watch What You Say Hit: 2 StarsDoes not hold a candle to 8 diagrams. Watch what you say Ghost. I don't ever really give negative reviews and I think Ghost is one of the top 3 MCs in the game (only Wu member to make my list). Fishscale kills this album. Absolute murder. While 8 diagrams just keeps getting better after every listen. You decide.
Free Music Review: GFK'S LP NOT ALL THAT BUT NICE Hit: 4 StarsI AGREE WITH S.BROMEL'S REVIEW.
LIKE HE SAID, LISTEN TO IRON MAN AND CLIENTEL. THOSE WERE INGENIOUS LYRICS THAT GHOST SPIT FROM HIS CIRCUMSTANCE. TO ME GHOST HAS BEEN RANTING MORE AND MORE RATHER THAN "FLIP'N UP MARVELOUS TRACKS" (IF YA'LL REMEMBR THAT.)
GHOST SHOULD RAVE AND RANT BECAUSE HE IS THE FATHER OF ALOT RAPPER'S STYLE. AND NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE CREDIT HIM FOR THAT. HE STOOD OUT AS A RAPPER THROUGH ON HIS LONESOME THROUGH HIS LYRICISMS. ALOT OF PEOPLE (WHO DON'TCARE FOR THE WU) KNOW WHO HE IS.
WHEN A PERSON PUTS OUT A MILLION ALBUMS IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, YOU HAVE TO WONDER IF ITS ABOUT "MOVING BIRDS AND WEIGHT THROUGH SUBURBAN STATES", FOR PAPES ONLY. (YOU KNOW, QUANTITY INSTEAD QUALITY)
I GIVE GFK 4 STARS FOR THE RAPPER HE HAS BEEN AND IS.
THE SOULFUL SOUNDS ON EACH SONG ALWAYS (AS USUAL) EMPHASIZE THE MOOD BEHIND HIS DARTS ON THIS ALBUM AND THE PREVIOUS ONES.
Free Music Review: Good, But More of the Same Hit: 4 StarsThis is another solid effort by Ghostface Killah, adding another gem to a near-perfect catalogue. But there is nothing groundbreaking or brand new here. Fans should cop this, but anybody looking for something fresh and different check out the new Wu Tang album 8 Diagrams first.
Free Music Review: Might be a classic but I don't like it Hit: 3 StarsI didn't like Fishscale's More fish either, except for that Ghost is Back and a couple others. There's not one song on BDR I feel is better than anything I've already heard from Ghost before.I'm not stupid though, this BDR will have a lot of people liking it b/c it reaches an audience and is a consistent album (meaning the songs blend well). I just don't like any of the beats, sound quality is bad & muffled on many songs I can't clearly hear instruments or his voice, and I really don't like that damn Theodore Unit! There's one in the group that can rap besides Ghost but the others need to go b/c they ruin songs Ghost could have done way better on without them. Maybe I'm getting too old for rap about drugs now.It don't appeal no more, so....All in all it's a Good album by Ghost, his flow is good but he doesn't change it nearly as much as on other cd's, good lyrics, compact storytelling, but I liked Pretty Toney for style better (La,La), BulletProof Wallets for its variety of flows, creativite topic matter, and solid-clear beats, and Supreme Clientele better for infinite hard rhyming.
Free Music Review: only good by today's standards Hit: 1 StarsThis is pretty much garbage. Of course, the hip-hop standards seem to be a lot lower then when I was growing up so I can understand the high ratings. Someone farts today and it's wonderful. First of all, I grew up listening to the Wu and loved all the first solo records (in some cases the sophomore records). So GFK is like what 35 now and he's still throwing rhymes like he's 16. It sounds ridiculous unless you're sixteen or have the mind-set of a 16 year old. The beats are lacking and I noticed on a few tracks that the samples GFK uses are the same samples Redman has used in the past and Redman sounds 200% better over those tracks. His whole style and flow on this record is overkill. If a drummer was playing a roll throughout an entire song it would be considered ridiculous. Few people, if any, can make that work (Kool G Rap). The album features the clan which it's cool to hear their voices but the lyrics.....eh. I feel like if you are not in touch with where hip-hop was in 86-88 and 90-96, you may like this album. I think it's pretty bland...nothing new, nothing worth mentioning.
