Free Music Notes for Volare! - The Very Best Of The Gipsy KingsFree Music Review: Spanish Flamenco Meets Salsa Funk. Hit: 5 StarsListening to the Gipsy Kings is like drinking pastis on a warm Mediterranean evening in the south of France. The Gipsy Kings are a Rumba Flamenca group formed from two related families from Arles and Montpellier, France. Their music is a blend of Spanish flamenco, guitar-tapping Latin rhythms, and salsa funk, and their songs involve themes of life, love, and death. We write songs that make pretty girls dance, singer-guitarist Nicolas Reyes says. Other Gipsy King members include Paul Reyes, Canut Reyes, Patchai Reyes, Andre Reyes, Diego Baliardo, Paco Baliardo, Tonino Baliardo, all on vocals and guitars. This two-disc compliation is Definitive Gypsy Kings, including career-spanning songs from their Allegria (1982) album through Cantos de Amor (1998). Tracks include:

Free Music Review: Worth the time Hit: 5 StarsThis CD brought a lot of memories to me. It is simply beautiful, there's passion, there's pain, they know how to pour their gipsy souls into their music so beautifully I just can't praise this CD enough. It is meant to be enjoyed during a quiet day, when there's nothing else to grab our attention so that we can slowly sink into this musical experience.
If you know Spanish, and if you can get past their gipsy accent (or better yet, if you can get into it and sing along), all of the songs will move you. 'Un amor' and 'Trista Pena' will remind you of the love of your life. 'Caminando por la calle' reminded me of the beautiful rendition of the song 'Patria' that Ruben Blades did with Robi Rosa.
My favorite song is 'Bamboleo', unforgettable. Also: 'Djobi Djoba', 'Baila Me', 'Vamos a Bailar', 'Volare'. Every song is a beauty to be enjoyed and savored separately, as a unique experience. I can't praise this CD enough. Please buy this one.
