Free Music Notes for All the BestFree Music Review: Memories of my younger days...when music was real music Hit: 5 StarsGlen Campbell was so BIG years ago, and his music is ageless and voice is pure. Nearly every song on this CD I remember playing on the radio, or watching him sing them on tv. It's sad to see what alcohol did to his career, but I hear that he's finally beating his demons. I hope that is true, and that his voice has not suffered over the years. Would love to see him put out some new music.
But if not, will keep playing this fantastic CD and remembering the young man with such a future.
Free Music Review: This is the Very Best of Glen Hit: 5 StarsIf you ever were or are a Glen Campbell fan then this is the CD you want in your collection. This has all of his hits along with songs with Bobbie Gentry and those are unreplacable. Get this CD if ever liked one of Glen's songs. The rest are all great!!

Free Music Review: Most Comprehensive One On The Market Hit: 5 StarsIf you are looking for original versions of Glen's hit singles this one offers the most in one package of the 38 he put into the Billboard Pop Hot 100, 41 to the Adult Contemporary (AC) charts, and 75 Country charters from 1961 to 1993 (many of them crossovers).
These include his hard-to-find hits, True Grit [# 7 AC/# 9 Country/# 35 Hot 100 in late summer 1969 from the film of the same name], and Try A Little Kindness [# 1 AC/# 2 Country/# 23 Hot in late 1969. The only selection I question among the 25 is Highwayman which made none of the charts on its 1979 release. Nor is there any mention of it in the otherwise excellent five pages of liner notes written by Valerie V. Hansen which might explain its inclusion rather than, say, a legitimate hit like Oh Happy Day [# 7 AC/# 25 Country/# 40 Hot 100 in 1970].
They could easily release a Volume 2 to include that, plus the other hits not covered, including another duet with Bobbie Gentry - Mornin' Glory [# 32 AC/# 74 Hot 100 in 1968], and Christmas Is For Children [# 7 on the Billboard Christmas charts in 1968] - both of which remain singularly hard to find. They could round it off with some of his better Country-only charters like Kentucky Means Paradise, # 20 in 1963 with The Green River Boys, and Burning Bridges [# 18 in 1967]. What do you say, Capitol?
In the meantime, unless you're a die-hard audiophile the sound quality is just fine.
Free Music Review: Great nostalgic tunes Hit: 5 StarsThis is a wonderful CD for anyone who truly enjoys the sound of Glen Campbell's voice and guitar. From the great older songs, e.g., Galveston, Gentle on My Mind to some of the newer stuff, this is a sweet, sentimental ride. There's something calming about this music. With today's pounding beat in almost everything, it's nice to step back and just relax with some golden favorites.
