The songs are beautiful, intricate, formed in such a way that you want to listen to each 8 or 9 times before you move on to the next, you want to hear every little sound, every word pronounced, each note played. As I do with things that I find have helped me in life, I will do the same with this. I will buy other copies and spread them out to people, In my eyes I believe that this music can help others - for its already helped me.

After seeing the movie "Once" at the Sundance Film Festival and meeting Glen & Marketa I rushed to my computer to order The Swell Season. The Swell Season contains most of the songs featured in the brilliant Irish musical film written and directed by John Carney. The songs on The Swell Season are beautiful and evocative and the melodies will sweep you away. Glen's voice is like a fine Irish whiskey at it's best and Marketa provides the perfect counterpoint.Free Music Review: If you're deciding between this and "Once" soundtrack, get this!

When I thought about buying this album, I was torn between it and the soundtrack from the movie "Once". I decided to get this because I felt like it would have more of an album feel. That it does. Listening to this album is like following the songwriters through a cohesive story of the character they created. Every song is passionate/wonderful/beautiful. Especially the Marketa Irglova instrumental(s). The art in the liner notes is pretty cool, too.Free Music Review: Do yourself a favor, support these brilliant musicians

If you're fortunate enough to have found the Frames music and fell in love, then you will also find The Swell Season a worthy companion. Like any Frames song, these will also go deep to your core. They are simply beautiful. Marketa and Glen's voices are incredible, whether alone, together or with violin and cello. I'm listening to this recording daily since buying it and have only enjoyed it more each time.
Worth every penny.

This is the best CD I've found in more than four years. The authenticity, the beauty, the depth, the emotion, the creativity. This is real music with heart. The melodies of Drown Out give me goose-bumps. The power of When Your Minds Made Up is ecstatic. The words of This Low are as moving as the best poetry. I haven't been able to stop playing this CD since it arrived today and I just can't believe how unknown it seems to be.
