Free Music Notes for Brokeback Mountain

Free Music Review: better than the original soundtrack
Hit: 5 Stars

I have the soundtrack, which I like a lot, but I like this better. There are extended versions of the instrumental background music, which is very nice. The other songs, not in the movie, are appropriate and very fitting for the movie also. I really like this CD.

Free Music Review: Smitten, still...
Hit: 5 Stars

Like many, I remain smitten by the story, the movie and the original soundtrack. This "differnt" rendition fills that gap wanting an extension to the instrumental portions of the original.

Free Music Review: Magnificent Music
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD contains some really magnificent music. I always like pseudo soundtracks. They are good because you get to hear different versions of the music. This CD is outstanding.

Free Music Review: A really nice addition
Hit: 4 Stars

Well, of course nothing will beat the original soundtrack recording (which is why I give this four stars instead of five), but if you're a fan of this movie, this recording is a nice addition to your collection.

The versions of the instrumental themes are all in keeping with the mood of the movie (with a touching solo guitar version of "The Wings"), that sound just different enough to be interesting. (They use a synthesizer instead of slide guitar.) I found the mixes to be very listenable, with a bit of variety yet staying true to the story.

In the main songs, there are different versions of two vocals, "King of the Road" by Boxcar Willie, and "It's So Easy" by Waylon Jennings -- which I actually liked better than the Linda Ronstadt version used in the movie. (When is that woman going to learn that bellowing is not singing?)

There's also a bonus track section of four songs "inspired by the movie", including Willie Nelson's version of "To Each His Own" and Bobby Bare sings "Please Don't Tell Me How the Story Ends" to close it. Very appropriate....

Free Music Review: Happy Cowboy...
Hit: 4 Stars

Am very happy with the CD... I was a little aprehensive about the order after reading some of the reviews, but am so glad i did.
