Free Music Notes for St. ElsewhereFree Music Review: Fantastic music, but... Hit: 4 StarsVery fantastic music, but don't do what I did and buy this if you're looking for a soundtrack to the 1980s medical tv series ST. ELSEWHERE.
Remember the episode where Denzel Washington's and Howie Mandel's characters teamed up for a musical charity show and sang "Ebony And Ivory" together? They did it even better than Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder did. Who knew Howie Mandel could sing so beautifully???
Unfortunately, this cd isn't a soundtrack to the show and sadly, that great duet isn't on here. Don't get me wrong though- Gnarls Barkley is great and this is a great cd you should definitely buy.
I advise though that we all keep watching Howie Mandel's show DEAL OR NO DEAL. Maybe one night Denzel Washington will make a special guest appearance and the two of them will sing together again.
I'll keep a fresh tape in my vcr, just in case.
Free Music Review: a unique & clever album Hit: 5 Starsi think there are two types of people that are listening to this album: those expecting more catchy songs like "crazy," and those who are digging deeper and exploring what is being presented here.
i find this album and its lyrics very refreshing, and i can relate to most of them (i'm still trying to figure out "necromancer" though). as another reviewer said, the lyrics aren't very complex, but they manage to make up for this by carrying powerful undertones that give each song its own mood and purpose. "transformer" and "just a thought" are two great examples.
this album is not a copy-and-pasted rearrangement of the hit single "crazy." if you aren't going to see past the catchy beat and vocals of this one song, i'd recommend that you purchase the single. no two tracks sound alike here.
if you like gnarls and you're about to order this album, i'd suggest splurging and spending a couple extra bucks on the "deluxe" version. it includes a bonus dvd with 4 (cool, but very weird) music videos, audio tracks of the live versions of "crazy" and "gone daddy gone," and a neat little booklet with lyrics and artwork. it'll make a nice addition to any music collection.
Free Music Review: Freedom In Hi-Fidelity! Hit: 5 StarsThis is one of the greatest albums I have heard in a while. Rapper Cee-lo(?) and Danger Mouse(Or MF doom? Idk, I'm confused) have made musical GOLD here. I personally do not like hip hop or rap, but this is one of my favourite albums. It has undertones of psychological themes under a Rollercoaster of sound, and music and amazing lyrics. At the first you hear an old projector starting up, and you can hear how that affects the music till the end of the album when it shuts off. I think every song on this album is astounding, though Feng Shui took some settling into. A surprisingly good album, and this band needs to make more of their weird hip hop. 5/5.
Free Music Review: ST. ELSEWHERE REVIEW Hit: 4 StarsI thought it was great. These two groups blended together very well for this CD. A couple of the songs by Gnarles Barkley just blew me away.
Free Music Review: This made 2006 worthwhile! Hit: 5 StarsThank god this CD (or album, as some prefer) came out last year\summer.
It was the only thing worth listening to.
These guys are unbelievable.
Prince has been replaced.
