Free Music Review: Puts Their First Record To Shame!

I was fortunate to download a few tracks before the CD was released, and I was floored. I couldn't believe it was actually Godsmack! I was stunned to hear how evolved "Awake" was from their self titled. Musically, it is much heavier, darker, and more pyschedelic. Lyrically, the songs have a darker edge to them and angrier, creepier, screaming and singing. One of the best tracks is "Trippin", with pyschedlic guitars and dark, angry singing. Within this track, you will find the band's most psychedlic guitars. I strongly disagree with reviewers that say "Awake" is no different that their self titled. Sully's vocals are darker and creepier, the guitars are much more evolved and heavy, and the percussion is loud and crashing. Yes, Godsmack does keep some of their elements the same, and utlizes some more, which makes this record one of metal's best to date. They guys definitely experiment with different genres of rock, and they make it quite obvious. I dismiss anyone that says they're the same band they always were.
Far and away, the best track is "Vampires", a creepy, eerie, spine tingling instrumental. Godsmack can utilize metal imagery extremely well, and "Vampires" is a perfect example. In this track, you will find heavy, dark, gloomy, and crunching guitars that prove that Godsmack is indeed one of metal's finest bands.

the title says it all...this is one of my favorite cd's in my collection and godsmack came back after their debut with hard guitars, heavy bass-lines, and deep, yet simple lyrics. they have enough new intensity to keep me hooked for the 45 minute slamming they deliver....sick of life 8/10 good song...great start to the cd..
awake 10/10 one of my favorite godsmack songs...the navy used it as their theme to their commercials and it is an intense song with emotional lyrics
greed 9/10 powerful anger song with hard guitars and cool tunes
bad magick 2/10 what the heck is this? was what i wondered after hearing it...this is not godsmack...the guitars are ok but everything else about it sucks...it's too repetitive
goin' down 5/10 it's ok i guess, i usually skip it
mistakes 9/10 good song...a lil long for it's lacking in lyrics but they make up for it with their solos and guitars and bass lines
trippin' 20/10 my fav. song on the cd...hard rocking, good lyrics...awesome guitars...well-composed masterpiece
forgive me 10/10 good song...good guitars, all around good
vampires 6/10... good instrumental, i usually skip it but sometimes i give it a listen to

Free Music Review: GODSMACK IS BACK, IN A HUGE WAY!

This album has taken me by no surprise. Their sound and lyrics have gotten harder and better! Every song on this cd has a unique sound that invades and captures the listener. Sully has taken his talent even further. All the guy's have. The anger or pain they feel is expressed and felt. When the talk you listen. That can't be denied, by anyone! I rated these song's on a scale of 1-10, see If you like them or not. 1. SICK OF LIFE - 9/10 Listen to that If you have a bad day. 2. AWAKE - 10/10 Good song to "let It all go". 3. GREED - 10/10 Very agressive and loud! 4. BAD MAGICK - 10/10 I have to say this is my fave off the cd. 5. GOIN' DOWN - 8/10 Good song not dissapointing at all. 6. MISTAKES - 9/10 This is so easy to relate to! 7. TRIPPIN' - 10/10 Great sound~ 8. FORGIVE ME - 10/10 Great sound and lyrical content! 9. VAMPIRES - 10/10 I think It's great as a instrumental It wouldn't have the same affect with lyric's. 10. THE JOURNEY - 8/10 Good song.11. SPIRAL - 10/10 Great vocal arranging, lyrical content, and Katrina Chester's vocal's topped the song off She added a great sound! Over all this album Is GREAT! They topped the first cd. No matter who people compare them to, they are truly talented guy's. I look forward to seeing them on tour!

Although it is not as heavy as their self-titled album. This cd does not fail to deliver. The songs are written with such feeling and emotion it's unbelieveable.Sick of Life ~ 9/10-This song is a perfect way to start off the cd. It's starts off slow but builds up fast.
Awake ~ 10/10-This again is another great song. Great solos.
Greed ~ 8/10-This one took me a while to get used to, but once you do it's awesome.
Bad Magick ~ 6/10-This is one of those songs you either love or hate.
Goin' Down ~ 6/10-This was the first song I heard by Godsmack, it was on M:I-2....I have loved them ever since
Mistakes ~ 8/10-This is another great song. The lyrics are really powerful.
Trippin' ~ 10/10-The drums on this song are intense. I love everything about this song
Forgive Me ~ 10/10-This song has one of the coolest time changes ever.
Vampires ~ 9/10-An instrumental song that never lets up...
Journey ~ 4/10-This song goes into the final song. But by itself, it's only a 4
Spiral ~ 10/10-Like voodoo. Starts of slow, builds in the chorus. Then never lets go of you. A great way to end the album.
In my opinion, this is Godsmack's best cd.
I loved them since M:I-2 and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

this album has to be my favorite album along with their first album "Godsmack".everybody who says this stinks should be shot.
i mean this album rules.my favorite song on this album has to be either "Awake" or "Spiral" but my favorite has to be "Keep away"
i can play guitar and this album is fun to play.especialy awake that song is fun to play if you want an awesome album by "Awake".
Sick Of Life-this song is one of my favorite ones ever about a man who is just,well....sick of his life the intro for this song rocks especialy the guitar.
Awake-this song rules but the guitar is the main sucsess here.
Greed-the tune rules but i don't care for the words.
Bad Magick-i love the drumming at the beggining and the way sully sings in this song.
Goin Down-this song is okay but not that great.
Mistakes-i dont like it

Forgive Me-i love the guitar for this one the guitar rules.

The Journey-the sound for this rules i like how it runs into spiral.
Spiral-this song is awesome i love how it sounds mystical as sully sings "i'll fly away fly away again".
