Free Music Notes for AwakeFree Music Review: You don't need to be a heavy fan to like it! Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is really, really good! I bought it after hearing Awake on the radio, and it blew me away! I got the CD, wondering if it was all filler except for Awake, and then, "BOOM!" the first 5 tracks hit me like a jackhammer! Then I listened to track 9, Vampires, and found that it was a great instumental song. All of the tracks have their own style of distorted gutiar, heavy distorted bass, a great back-up drum beats, and Sully's amazing volcols on top of that! Parents who wonder about what their kids are listening to: THIS CD ONLY HAS 5 SWEARS THAT WOULD BE EDITED! That is rare in a CD nowadays, so take advantage of it! Some people say that Godsmack totally copied Alice in Chains. That's not true! They don't sound alike at all!... I recommed this CD to people that are kind of intristed in heavy music, or diehard fans! This CD rules!
Free Music Review: AWAKE!! And get this disc! Hit: 5 Stars
So for those three million people out there who bought the first CD, make sure you get the second one. Godsmack builds on their first, but at the same time completely blows it out of the water. This is the best true ROCK CD to come out in a long time. It is loud and hard and pure and cuts right into your head. Sully's growling vocals are better than they have ever been, and the band as a whole seems to have gotten like 10 times tighter and become even better musicians than they were on the first CD. With "Awake" Godsmack proves they have the talent to become rock/metal masters like only Metallica has ever done. Godsmack isn't just another flash in the pan metal band taking advantage of the "return of the rock." These guys are for real and you should definitely check out this CD, it will BLOW YOU AWAY!!!
Free Music Review: Like a SMACK in the face... Hit: 5 Stars
I can just consider this to be one of the best things I have ever done with my money. I am not just a nu-metal fan, I love old metal too (Black Sabbath, Ozzy, (old) MetallicA, etc.). I am 23 years old and in a band too and I know what to rock out to and this is just one of those albums that I can crank up all the way and go crazy. Don't be fooled by people who say all nu-metal is bad because GODSMACK is nu-metal, but they remind me of metal gods such as Black Sabbath. Most nu-metal bands don't have guitar solos and I don't like that, but GODSMACK does. This album even has more solos that the self titled debut! Every song is amazing and this is a great follow up to their debut. The first album was like a smack in the face but this one puts the SMACK in GODSMACK. ROCK ON (I dig the solos
Free Music Review: Probably my favorite album of all-time.... Hit: 5 Stars
Godsmack + Awake = Excellent Album. In my opinion, this is one of the best albums ever made. Combining heavy, thick layered chunks of groove-rock and Nu-Metal, and 500some riffs - Awake is truley a AWESOME album. The best tracks are 'Sick of Life' (Truley angry and angst ridden, you can feel the emotion vocalist/guitarist Sully Erna puts out, a great anger vent for thoose bad days), 'Awake' (Real catchy, the lyrics are real great. I love the artistic feel the lyrics are ordered in. Great song, the guitar and bass KICK), and Vampires. I just really like that song, sorry i have formed a musical opinion, but i think this is one of the most underrated songs on the album. This is a great album, a must have for angry metal fans. Really great stuff, go pick it up - its certainly worth your $$$
Free Music Review: Blessed Be! Hit: 5 Stars
Once again, Sully Erna has brought the Wiccan community into a positive light for many people who may have thought it negative and alienating before. The album displays a lot of anxiety, hurt, and formerly repressed anger--the same themes as Godsmack's freshman release, but a little more elaborate (musically) and more vocally/lyrically expressive than the self-titled cd. I like this one much better--somewhat because of the simple aforementioned developments. I believe that Sully Erna is a well-chosen "poster boy" for wicca--he's HUMAN and isn't afraid to show his HUMAN emotions. Also, he's mentally stronger and deeper than most artists on the "metal" bill today. He has more substance. Blessed Be, Sully! Keep up the good work, 'Smack!
