Free Music Review: Is this really Godsmack's best album?
Hit: 3 Stars

Massachusetts' hard rock/post-grunge band, Godsmack, has just released a new album. This sounded more like Rock 'N Roll, really catchy chorus, and good guitarr works. Songs "The Enemy", "Bleeding Through", "Speak", and "No Rest For The Wicked".

1."Livin' In Sin" 8/10- The guitars were really cachy, nice guitar solo, OK song, but should try to sing faster. Good song to begin this album.

2."Speak" 10/10- A rockin' song! Great beginning, one of my favorites. Really catchy chorus, awesome guitar solo!

3."The Enemy" 10/10- Love how he sang in this song, catchy chorus and well-written lyrics.

4."Shine Down" 8.5/10- Werid beginning, but great singing and good guitar works

5."Hollow" 4/10- What is this?! Where are the rockin' guitar solo's?! Too soft and too much of acoustic.

6."No Rest For The Wicked" 10/10- Good beginning, really nice guitar solo, and love how he sang here

7.Bleeding Me" 9.5/10- A good song, nothing wrong with this song, and nice guitar solo.

8."Voodoo Too" 6/10- Too soft, but the chorus was thr best part

9."Temptation" 8/10- Good beginning, and pretty good song

10."Mama" 6.8/10- Too soft, more of hard rock, and less of soft parts, the guitar solo was my favorite part

11."One Rainy Day" 5/10- Too soft, and the guitar was boring too, the ending was just raining

Comparing this album with Avenged Sevenfold's "City Of Evil", I would say A7X has more guitar solo's, and Sully has better singing voice than Matt Shadows, Matt's can get a little scratchy. But I think it'll be better if you don't get this album.

Free Music Review: A rare Album
Hit: 4 Stars

Godsmack in my opinion is one of the best band out there.IV is a strange album it has some good songs ,and some bad songs.
Overall 80/100
best songs:mama,the enemy,speak

Free Music Review: Nothing new, nothing improved...Godsmack needs to try a little harder next time
Hit: 3 Stars

The problem with Godsmack, and this has been their problem starting with their sophomore album, is that their sound doesn't change at all. None of their albums have a separate theme and thus every song on `IV' sounds like one on `Faceless' or `Awake' or even their debut. That aside, I still love these guys, I just really wish they would do something, anything, that would make their next album a real treat and not more of the same ol' same ol'.

There are a few tracks I really liked off of their latest though. `The Enemy' and `Temptation' serve up high octane adrenaline pumping rock, and I like that. I liked the melody of `Mama' and absolutely LOVED the androgynous eerie anticipation in the closer `One Rainy Day', probably the best track Godsmack has ever delivered. Am not a fan of the single `Speak', never was...the only good thing about hearing it on the radio was that it let me know they had a new CD coming out, but it definitely didn't get me too excited. I thought that the idea of `Voodoo Too' was a pointless one, and it should have been avoided...sadly it wasn't.

The CD is far from their best, it's actually their worst if you think about it, but there are at least four good tracks here amidst the remaining mediocre ones. You can't win every time, but you should be able to do better than this guys. Better luck next time.

Free Music Review: Excellent
Hit: 4 Stars

This is a great album from Godsmack. Easily their most mature and diverse, it picks up where Faceless left off. Less dark and aggressive as some of their earlier stuff, that doesn't make it any less heavy. They're really stretching the envelope with the songwriting, and Sully's singing has never sounded better. Godsmack is really starting to come into their own, and are sounding less like the Metallica/Alice in Chains hybrid they souned like in the past. Speak is a great radio-friendly heavy tune, Shine Down has a great bluesy tinge without sounding wimpy, Hollow is surprisingly pretty, and Voodoo Too is a nice heavier sequel, haunting and seductive. Shannon Larkin's drumming is rock solid, and the drum sound shines throughout the record. My only dissapointment is Tommy's guitar solos. There's quite a bit of redundancy here, and not many new ideas from previous recordings. Which is unfortunate, because he's otherwise a very capable player. As great as Godsmack is on record, they're even better live. It's interesting to see where they'll be in a few years.
