Even after having this cd for about 8 years, having done the show and many others in the past 10 years or so, I still come back to this cd to sing through the whole thing. I love every song. I can actually sit and listen to this cd, knowing I won't have to forward some songs. The only thing I absolutely hate about this cd is that man trying to sing "All Good Gifts". Where, in the name of all that is good in musical theatre, did they find this man? Who did he know to get this job? "By My Side" is just beautiful. I read that it was the only song that Stephen Schwartz didn't write. It was written by some of the cast of the original production of Godspell before he came in to re-work the music. They decided to keep it in. Good move. Think about the idea behind the song...telling someone that you will always be there...by their side. This was the first musical that I ever fell in love with and it will always be the first point that I realized that this was what I wanted to do with my life. This is one of the best musicals I've ever seen and heard next to Little Shop of Horrors and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. But this musical is serious. The soundtrack pulls you in and makes you profess it. You listen to it and you just want to stand up and start shouting lyrics and getting into it. The play is great...the movie?...the movie was horrible. Get this CD and you'll never leave your house again for entertainment, this CD is entertaining, fun, powerful and amazingly remarkable.Free Music Review: Good. Real Good.

An excellent C.D. The score is overall very good, but By My Side and Day By Day, in my humble opinion, hurt the score. By My Side is pointless and overlong, while Day By Day is pleasent enough, but overlong by about two minutes. Still, I Recommend this C.D. for save The People, On The Willows, and other great songs.Free Music Review: I like it

my church did Godspell I didnt get to be a disciple but i enjoyed being part of the chorus even if there were 76 other people in in!! I enjoyed doing in and i want to do it all over again and i cant get the songs out of my headFree Music Review: Great show, great music

I fell in love with this show when the community theater did it; I became jealous that I had not tried out. I have but one qualm about this recording though, the singing is not at all what I expected. After listening a while, most of it has grown on me, but I still have problems with "All Good Things" which is a perfectly wonderful song except for the warblings of Lamar, who also comes through in other songs as well. Had this singer been tamed, this recording would be greatly improved.
