I am a hugh Stephen Schwartz fan!! Even before we moved to the same town he lives in, we had seen "Godspell" TWICE, and "Pippin" on Broadway!! We were at the opening of his "not so popular" "Rags", which had it's good moments!!! But "Godspell" is a classic!! If you are over 50, you'll get it!!! And for those of you younger, LISTEN to it!! However, YOU really should see any production of it in person!! MY first experience was at Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC , very intimate, very personal!! Thanks for reviving a classic!! And a big HOORAY to Stephen Schwartz!!! PS- Also check out "Pippin" - another favorite!!Free Music Review: Godspell soundtrack still great!

After seeing the musical "Godspell" at a local college, I was very excited to get the soundtrack. I listen to it the most out of all of my CD's and soundtracks. It has the happy "Save the People", the beautiful "Day By Day, and the sad "On the Willows." All of these are meaningful. As some of the other reviews said, I don't know if "All Good Gifts" is one of my favorites. Sure the lyrics are good, but I don't know about the guy who is singing it. I think Stephen Schwartz did a great job with the lryics. They are catchy and have alot of meaning about God. This is definitely one to get. The cast fits the songs really well. Godspell has gotten stale faster than some of its contemporaries, but it's still a must-have for anyone interested in the transformation the American musical theater underwent in the 70s. And it's a lot catchier than it sounds at first listening.Free Music Review: I can't get it out of my head!

I've been familiar with this show since i was young; my mother had the record she bought when she saw the original production of Godspell in the seventies. I bought the CD when i left for college because the songs are so catchy and they stay in your head all day. I sing stuff from the CD all the time. Particularly good are "God Save the people" and "Day by Day". "By My Side" is extremely beautiful. The music from this show is so good because it carries a meaningful message with simple music that is universally good.Free Music Review: Great songs sounding live

Last year I saw "Godspell" at a local college. Right when it started I knew I was really going to enjoy it. The music in it was so good. I decided to buy this CD. When I listen to it I feel as if I am seeing the show again. The band and singers sound so great, not to mention the lryics by Stephan Schwartz, that it is a CD you have to get if you like Godspell. I also enjoyed hearing the original cast from 1971. It has the hit songs on it such as "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord", "Day By Day," and "All For the Best." This album definitely deserves at least four stars, because it's one you'll never stop listening to.
