Free Music Review: Diving In The Gold and Frappy Waters... Head First!

Goldfrapp slowly started rising to world fame when their first LP 'Felt Mountain' was released in 2000. It was hipnotic, had hints of Electropop, Electronic music, and most of all - was far in the left field, which I tend to like that kind of LP/Music most of the time.
In the middle of 2003 Goldfrapp changed their stage, so to speak, after releasing their 2nd (one of their biggest selling) LP 'Black Cherry'. One of the singles off of the 'Black Cherry' LP reached the top of the U.S. Dance charts ("Strict Machine").
In 2005, the world was introduced to pure Glam Electronic Rock, as I call it. It was ranked as my favorite, to date, and then they hit rock bottom with 'Seventh Tree' in 2008. I didn't care for any of it, accept the song "Happiness". It was a decent song/track, but overall, the LP was at the bottom of the list for me.
Finally, I was hyped when hearing about their latest venture to be released in March of 2010... 'Head First'. I was so hoping they would veer away from the folk-ish sounds they created on 'Seventh Tree'. I sighed with relief when hearing and purchasing the new LP. In my opinion, they are nearly back to form, as the smooth, professionally produced sounds of Synthpop and Electronic keyboards soar in the background of most of the tracks on 'Head First'. And what a delight to hear the last track "Voicething". Not a single oriented track, but it is so unique from most anything they have produced. Off-the-wall, as I would call it, but nevertheless an excellent venture into dreamy opera-like voice overtones with flying synthetic background bass.
This, to date, is my 2nd favorite LP of Goldfrapp's catalog. Some critics have pinned this LP for going backward, and in some sense of the matter it has, but in a good way of having the Olivia-ish vibe that I always liked in the early to mid 1980's. Yes, I too, want what I call as well a "Supernature 2" LP, and I think they won't disappoint on that scenario in due time. I highly suggest purchasing this dreamy and lively electronic-synth adventure.
Standout tracks:
"Rocket", "Alive", "Dreaming", "Hunt", "Shiny And Warm", and "Voicething". Those are my top 6 (not in order).
