Free Music Review: DEFINING OUR CULTURE

Many *punks* that defined themselves in the 1980's or 90's have their minds set on what punk music is and what it isn't. To many of those *punks* Good Charlotte is one of those bands that isn't considered punk. But, when did they ever claim they were punk? According to lead singer Joel Madden, "We are just a rock band. Whatever anyone calls us, then that is what we are. If someone wants to believe we are a punk band, then we are a punk band. If they think we are a rock band, then we are. We don't label ourselves. We just want to make music, tour, and be a band." So, if people can get past that and appreciate the album for what is for...then...you will love it. This album defines anger management teen angst. All of the songs on the album are written by Joel and Benji Madden of the band, and the connection you will have the lyrics could be life altering. Little Things, Motivate Me, and Festival Song were the singles off the album, and by far the most likely to get stuck in your head (but, hey, it's a good thing)...All their other songs are so great, but I do not have the space to express how truly wonderful they are. The band, formed by Joel Madden, Benji Madden, Billy Martin, Paul Thomas, and Aaron (now replaced with Chris WIlson) has a personal passion for their music that shines through with their awesome self-titled debut album. Hi my name is sarah,i am 14 yrs old, and live in Qld Australia, and i am one of GC's GREATEST FANS. This cd is worth buying because gc's songs are just so good, they can sing good, they play their instruments good, there just the best band ever. I have been gc's fan for over a year now and ever since the first day i heard about them i have loved them ever since. they are inspirational, they love there fans, they try there best and most important sing and write songs about their life and how they are putting most of it behind them because like most people high school is a living hell, and i for one , hate it soo much. If anyone should say they are a punk impersonater or whatever, they are rong, because for their information gc are a punk ROCK band not just punk, they ROCK hard and thats why i love them. and if anyone should put them down they are not worth it, becasue anyone who have ACTUALLY sat down and heard this band, if your into punk rock muzic, you will absolutely love them, and if one day good charlotte reads this message i just wanna say to them that they are the best band ever and for them not to ever give up on life and muzic because they have a real talent and not many bands have as good talent as gc. Well I'll start off by writing that Good Charlotte are the best band there ever was and ever will be. There music is so awesome that there are no words to describe it really. For all the Good Charlotte haters well they should grow up and just not listen to them if they don't like them and definitely not say stupid and mean things about the guys of Good Charlotte. As far as anyone who says that they don't have any talent that is just stupid because one listen to any of their songs is plain to see that these guys are super talented. Well enough about that. This CD is so good and there are no songs on it that wouldn't get a 11\10 in my mind. As far as skipping any songs on the CD I never do because every song is so beautifully written. There songs can just help anyone out whether you are in a bad mood and wanna cry or in a good mood and wanna rock out. Every song on this CD is about everyday things that happen to everyday people and they can really help you get through tough times. I'll end this off by saying to all of the GC haters that they are not sellouts. Just because they appear on tiger beat magazine covers who really cares. Maybe the bands that you would like to see on the cover of Tiger Beat are just not good enough to appear on it or maybe no one cares about that band.

I first heard of these guys from my friend, and when I saw the cover of their new CD I was like 'Whoa. Kele, what the heck are you listening to???' But after listening to 'The Young and the Hopeless', I realized I wanted to hear more. I bought this CD, and let me tell you: Do not judge Good Charlotte by Benji's piercings and tattoos!!! These guys are real. They write their own music, and they started from scratch! This CD is absolutely awesome. 'Little Things' is so much different than any other song I've heard. It's original. I think my favorite songs are 'East Coast Anthem' and 'Festival Song'. I love how GC takes punk rock and puts some originality into it. This CD is perfect for kids who feel like they don't really fit in, because neither did Benji and Joel. It's also a great CD to put in and just listen to. You can play it from beginning to end because there's no bad song. Not a single one. If you're going to buy this CD, buy the one with the bonus tracks, because you'll also get 'The Click' and 'Thank You Mom'. 'The Click' is one of my all time favorite songs because it just says, 'if you don't want to hang out with me, fine. I'll find someone better'. I really hate that all of you are bashing on Good Charlotte. Get the over it, honestly. They are doing what they love. They are in band, that obviously plays good music since they have a record deal, and have millions of fans. Who cares if they dont play the kind of music you like. DONT LISTEN TO IT. Get over it. Honesty. Also, you call them a boy band....last i checked boy bands i dont have piercings and tatoos and wear punk clothes, or play any music instruments, and plus, Good Charlotte actually writes their own lyrics...so how are they a boy band? Honestly, im sick of all this bashing. Just get over yourself. You think your so cool because you can bash on a band, whoopie doo. If thats what you have to do in your life to be satisfied than you need a life. And you say they arent "punk." And you are? Labels are so dumb. Half of you probably arent even "punk" and i highly doubt you dressed the way you do now when you were little, so if anyone is a poser, you are. That word is dumb too. I think all of you are just stupid. ITS MUSIC, who cares what is sounds like. I listen to it, so do millions of others, so for those who dont, DONT WORRY ABOUT IT. Peace out cubscouts
