Free Music Notes for Good Morning Revival

Free Music Review: okay, but not great....
Hit: 3 Stars

i've been a fan of good charlotte since early 2002 and i loved the young and the hopeless as well as their self titled record and the chronicles of life and death. while some may consider many of the songs on those albums corny, some actually had meaning, and were incredibly catchy. they were a typical three chord pop punk band. however, with this album the band offers nothing that was mentioned above. while this record is good to blast a few songs or play the whole record through once in a great while, most of the songs fall flat. "all black" is up there with "riot girl" as being two of good charlotte's worst songs. "dance floor anthem" is boring and flat, and i couldn't even make it through the entire song without skipping. the stand out tracks on this album are: misery, the river, break apart her heart, beautiful place, march on, and broken heart parade. the rest are either horrible or aren't catchy or meaningful enough to make any listener actully care. for a band that has been making music together for over a decade, you would think that they would take a little bit more pride in the kind of music that they create. for the most part, i don't think we will ever hear a decent good charlotte record again, if they make it that far.

Free Music Review: Revival? Maybe...
Hit: 3 Stars

I bought "Good Morning Revival" mostly for curiosity's sake. A fan that's grown up from the time of their first two releases, I wasn't buying it for superior music quality over other popular bands of their genre.

"Good Morning Revival" is a fairly decent album, predictable and at times quite "pop-ish" and repetitive, but it doesn't really contain a terrible track, as songs, in my opinion, range from "okay" to "pretty good." The standouts are "The River," a song with surprising spiritual undertones and an infectious chorus, "Where Would We Be Now," a gentle love song with a beautiful piano melody, and "March On," an uplifting conclusion. Gone from this album are the overly angry, angst-filled anthems sometimes associated with the band, evidence they've matured and mellowed since "Young and the Hopeless" and even "Chronicles of Life and Death."

All in all, it's a little too safe a step for a band whose hardcore fan base a few years ago is now probably outgrowing their music. With good single choices, however, it holds potential to attract new fans.

Free Music Review: Not Great, Not Bad, Not Impressed
Hit: 3 Stars

I have to laugh at some of the pubescent reviews. Many of them can be summed up as: "I hate it when a band plays music I don't want to hear." Really?!?

Lots of bands shift, evolve and change, often leaving many narrow-minded fans stranded on their limited islands. I'm remembering the grief the Goo Goo Dolls suffered when they did something similar and favored mainstream more than limited crowds.

The Good: Album is polished and well-done. Very approachable. Small glimpse are present of potential, but otherwise never reached. Nice to listen to if you want some pop-punk background while working, but don't have the time to pay attention to lyrics and music.

The Bad: Loss of the edginess and core appeal they had. Lyrics are basically lame. Not blazing any new musical ground, although it is a shift for the band itself.

Similarities: Goo Goo Dolls, The Killers, Coldplay.

In the end, would I buy this again armed with what I know now? No.

Free Music Review: Mixed feelings
Hit: 3 Stars

Joel Madden, Good Charlotte's frontman, may be famous for dating Nicole Ritchie, but many forget he is the frontman of the pop-rock band Good Charlotte. The lead sing "I Don't Wanna Be In Love" is great! I like the feel of the song and it's a great song to play in my car or listen to on my ipod. As for the rest of the album? Well let's just say some songs are better than others. I think "Misery" the first song is the best song on the album. While I don't like Good Charlotte as much as Fall Out Boy, I still think they have lots of potential. I couldn't stand them when they first came out and I now I find myself liking their music more and more. Overall I would reccomend this album to people if they were considering buying new music.

Free Music Review: Long Time Fan
Hit: 3 Stars

I really loved the first album. It was a lot of fun, upbeat and really rocked in spots. The Chronicles album was just terrible for me. I'm all for change, but the album just didn't have the energy. With a name like Good Morning Revival I was hoping for a return to the roots of their music. Sadly I don't think this does. The songs are flat and have non of the pop punk energy. I don't hear any stand out singles that will hit the radio and propel this one to big sales. Hopefully if this one does worse than the last, the band will realize what people really want to hear from them. I really want to stay a fan.
