Free Music Review: Good Charlotte, Great Charlotte or the Greatest Charlotte?
Hit: 4 Stars

I may be in the minority but I was actually a huge fan of The Chronicles of Life and Death album. I have both of GC's first two albums but they really didn't stick with me. I'm 23 and they weren't the first pop-punk band I had heard so I liked GC but also saw them as Blink-182 knock off #23751. I liked their work in a "background music" kind of way, but the only song of The Young and the Hopeless I loved is My Bloody Valentine.

It was when TCOL&D hit that I really appreciated this band, because they took a risk in toying with evolving their sound after having such a hit record, and sounded a heck of a lot better and more memorable then their previous work. They tried to move away from the pop punk stigma and it worked for me.

I understand that TCOL&D had split fans 50/50, so with Good Morning Revival I was hoping they wouldn't revert to their old sound just to please people. I'm happy that they didn't.

With Good Morning Revival, Good Charlotte has kind of evolved into dance rock band. It's got a lot of 80's influence and that works. It's a CD you can throw on and just enjoy. It reminds me slightly of bands like Franz Ferdinand and Shiny Toy Guns, while still having that Good Charlotte sound. GC works really well with this sound and having listened to this CD about ten times already I can say that even my least favorite song on the album, "All Black" is catchy enough that I don't skip it, and I can't call any song on the album flat out bad.

The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's not as epic and not quite as ballsy as The Chronicles of Life and Death. But with more albums like this I can see Good Charlotte continuing to maintain and gain fans, and stay in the upper-echelon of the pop-rock scene.

Free Music Review: Over produced
Hit: 2 Stars

wow. i've never really been a fan but i respect their lead guitarist. He's done alot of great work... but damn this cd ain't even catchy one bit.

you can hear the pitch fixer on benji's voice throughout the entire cd... it's bad. like realllllly bad. and it's way over produced...

Free Music Review: What a waste of money!!
Hit: 1 Stars

I hate saying this as a HUGE Good Charlotte fan but their new album is just a major waste of money. Their first album is one of my top five albums of all time, but this one sucks. The songs are all dance pop synthesized junk. No real guitars, no messages to any of the songs, no nothing. I dont know if Joel is just too busy running around town with Nicole Richie or what but they skipped out on this album. The only redeaming song is The River, on which they colaberated with M Shadows and Synester Gates of Avenged Sevenfold. I hate hate hate to say it but dont waste your money or time on this one, just listen to the first album and remember what a great band they used to be.

Free Music Review: Better than Expected
Hit: 3 Stars

Good Charlotte has always left a bad taste in my mouth. Why should fans listen to a man who complains about being famous? In any case, I picked up this record after I heard "The River" which has one of the best pop-rock hooks to be recorded in a while. So once hooked into a song on the album, I figured giving the rest of it a shot. Reading and hearing this album was pure garbage I went into this one with the lowest of expectations.

This is sadly one of those albums that has such potential and then fizzles towards its doom. "Where would be now" starts the downfall of this "mature" album. Every song after it sounds like the same old Good Charlotte crap. The music is uninspired and the lyrics are a joke. "All Black" is simply one of the dumbest songs ever written "Like the Rolling Stone's want to paint it black". Good job Joel you're depressed like all of us, but could you write something that isn't a reference?

Enough with the bad though. There is gold on this album. Once again "The River" is an emotional song about loosing yourself and then wanting to find something to believe in. "Keep Your Hands off My Girl" represents how shallow club life is not matter what generation one lives in. The first few tracks flow and the lyrical content is a bit more mature.

Rolling Stone did say it best though, it seems growing up sucks a lot more than this band thought.

Free Music Review: People are just impossible to please.
Hit: 4 Stars

I don't even really listen to Good Charlotte (their style isnt my cup of tea) but I figured I would give this album a shot since I liked their single The River.....and I was right to take that shot. The first 7 songs on this album are solid...lyrics are nothing to right home about, but they get the job done...the music is definitely a step up from their previous efforts....I really dont know what people expect anymore....I think they expect too much, especially from bands like Good Charlotte.
