Free Music Notes for The Chronicles of Life & Death (Life Art Version)Free Music Review: Stupid People Dint Know What There Talking About Hit: 5 Stars
I would like to do a bit of complaining about some of these reviews i've come across. I was just reading this persons and it made me very mad. Lets use some quotes from what they had wrote:
"Good Charlotte thinks that if they dress all in black and wear red ties like Billie Joe that they are punk. Let's see...what's wrong with this picture? A bunch of twenty-somethin-year-old burn-outs dressing in sweater vests with their black hair all spiked up, plucking at their guitars and calling it "punk..." well, there are a few f***ing things wrong with this picture!!!"
Have they forgotten how old Billie Joe is?? He's Thirty-something. And has 2 kids, and a wife if i may add. And Also, by that subscription, they just subscribed Billie Joe... hrm... More???
"this band shows up on MTV all the time..."
wait, i've got more to go along with that one
"Also, I want to thank ppl writing reviews for mentioning Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Bowling For Soup, and The Clash...THESE are real punk/emo/hard rock bands!"
But yet, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, and Bowling For Soup and all on MTV. WOW, THEY MAKE LOTS OF SENSE. DON'T THEY??
"And their music SUCKS. They WANT to be depressed...for gods sake they made a "death" version of this CD. They're like that simple plan sh***. Their songs are about breaking up with their wittle girlfriends (who happen to be hilary duff-SAD!!!) Punk is not about being depressed, it's about being yourself and not caring what the rest of the world thinks."
Yeah, thats there opinion of there music, So whatever. But My point is just that if s/he was really 'punk' S/he would not give a crap about whatever Good Charlotte was doing and be more focoused on the realy 'punk' bands. Like ones no one has ever herd of because there not mainstream like Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Bowling For Soup, and The Clash. So i just sugust to people to know what there talking about before they open their mouths. OH! By the way. Good Charlotte is not depressed, havent you ever herd of the song 'hold on'???? Its for depressed people to get help, its not in anyway telling the kids to go out and cut themselves because its 'the cool thing to do'!!! Ugh.

I thought it was fantastic. I'll admit, I was weary at first, it's definitely nothing like their first two albums (which I enjoyed thoroughly), but it's still good. They have definitely moved forward musically and as a group. This album was significantly darker than the first two and the sound was much less mainstream than that of the The Young and The Hopeless. There were a few songs I really didn't like upon first examination, but over time, they have grown on me. I won't say it's their best work, but it's just different work. Good work. Good music. Very enjoyable.
I'll also admit, that I have become a big fan of Good Charlotte over the past couple years. I used to be too cool for them or whatever, but I was judging the book by the cover. I didn't like the songs that were hits and all over MTV (and honestly, I still don't like those songs ... if I hear Lifestyles one more time I think I might kill someone), and I assumed that's what their whole albums were like. I was dead wrong. A friend of mine encouraged me to give them a listen, a thorough listen, and I've been hooked ever since. They are surprisingly good, talented, and Joel Madden has a presence like I've never seen. There is real emotion - genuine fun or anger or sadness or *insert emotion here* in their songs. It's not made for a particular group, it's there for anyone and everyone who is willing to give it a shot. These guys are putting themselves out there for better or worse, regardless of what anyone says about them.
I think they are respectable guys making respectable music. I love the album.
And just for the record - I'm 22, not 12. I'm not a teeny bopper. And I don't spend my time writing "Joel loves Amy" all over my walls. I took my 16 year old brother to the concert (he despises "my" music ... he's very into the hip-hop scene ... but agreed to go because no one else would) and he LOVED it. He had a blast and is now a big fan of GC as well. Even I was impressed with GC's ability to change someone's view so quickly.
If you're new to GC - and you're judging them - don't. Give them a shot. What do you have to lose?
Free Music Review: Growing up is good Hit: 5 Stars
As a Good Charlotte fan of almost 7 years, I think Chronicles of Life and Death is their best album yet. Many disagree calling the band posers and sellouts for making what they this is a pop album. People complain about Good Charlotte for the most ridiculous reasons, but I've found that no one will have the guts to give them credit for what they're good at--making music.
To start, we have to give credit to the band--vocalist Joel Madden, guitarists Benji Madden and Billy Martin, bassist Paul Thomas and drummer Chris Wilson--for not following mainstream trends, but following their hearts into writing the best album from the GC crew yet. They are a young band, who has already experienced extraordinary success. They are obviously doing SOMETHING right.
Now, I am not going to lie. There are definitely a couple of things that I do not like about Chronicles of Life and Death. The album opener is a horrid Japanese choir that detracts from the album's amazing quality. The tracks "I Just Wanna Live" and "We Believe" are very well written songs, but I don't like Joel's falsettos and the high-pitched choruses. Also, I don't like the fact that the band made TWO versions of the album. Yes, each of the albums have different bonus songs (both are excellent) and slightly different art work, but I feel as if they are cheating their fans into buying two albums that are no different with the exception of one song.
With that said, everything else about this album is excellent. Every song on this album is a lot heavier, emotional and personal than their previously released albums. Chronicles just comes to show everyone how much the band has grown musically. Overall, it is an amazing album that I think every pop/alternative-rock fan should own. Their debut album was good but sort of childish, the second album, the Young and the Hopeless was the GC Crew trying to find themselves and finally, with this album, the band has finally found who they are and what they stand for musically. I don't care how old you are, or how non-punk you think Good Charlotte is--they are incredibly talented musicians. Music is music and that's all that should matter.
Free Music Review: Their best one! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this CD the day it came out (October 5th, Paul's birthday)and i can honestly say this CD is the best one of Good Charlotte's so far. they have improved majorly (not that they weren't good before, mind you). just the way they take you through the songs. it keeps you wanting more, it makes you wish it wasn't only 60mins and 12secs long.
those of you who think Good Charlotte are the worst band known to man should really step back and shut up (espesially if you haven't listened to this album). they have grown up a bit, and you can tell by this CD.
i have learned something. it does not matter what genre you put the music into. all that really matters is if the music moves you or if you agree with what the artists are singing about. i personally pretty much agree w/ everything on this CD. maybe you don't, but you don't have to be rude about it. jeeze!
here r my reviews on all the songs:
1. Once Upon a Time: The Battle of Life and Death- very cool! i love the (i think) Japanese!
2. The Chronicles of Life and Death- awesome! and very true!
3. Walk Away (Maybe)- very upbeat and very true!
4. S.O.S.- the "prequel" to Hold On, very powerful just like Hold On.
5. I Just Wanna Live- amazing, and i love it! if you don't like GC then u should listen to this song & see if they care.
6. Ghost of You- very moving! and i just love the way the song plays.
7. Predictable- you probably know this one.
8. Secrets- very true.
9. The Truth- a slow but amazing song.
10. The World is Black- moving, and i agree w/ this song so much.
11. Mountain- very touching.
12. We Believe- VERY TOUCHING AND MOVING PLUS TRUE.
13. It Wasn't Enough- cool.
14. In This World (Murder)- so true.
15. Falling Away (Bonus)- amazing and i love the one part where it stops and then slowly picks back up.
there you go. also at the end of 15 make sure you wait cause there is still more. one more song to be exact and it is awesome too (did you have any doubts?).

Free Music Review: My response to the whiners... Hit: 5 Stars
"...Slipknot, or even ac/dc, and black sabbath, and basically the list goes on because all these bands know how to sing and especially play their instruments." Some reviewer reckons that Joel sounds whiny and GC can't play their instruments so we should all listen to Slipknot, AC/DC and Black Sabbath because they can sing and play instruments. Sorry, what was that?! Slipknot can sing?! If you think GC sound whiny, I think all those bands sound they have had a handful of gravel shoved down their throats and then been punched in the stomach. And Slipknot clearly have never even heard of the word 'melody'.
All these people go on about crap MTV and all these bands are, but what they all seem to be forgetting is that a few years ago, pop-punk bands like Good Charlotte and Green Day were alternative, back in the days when the teeny bopper screaming girls were still into the Backstreet Boys. But times change, different music becomes popular, but the music itself is still the same. The basslines might not be overly complicated, but could you write anything better? And at least they can write melodies and have a sense of rhythm, unlike Slipknot and half of those bands. People accuse GC of being poseurs, trying to be punk, but half the metal bands are just trying to be alternative for the sake of it and don't know anything about music. People only like them because the teeny boppers don't, which is just stupid, because it's about the music, not the image.
GC are my favourite band in the world and I would love them whether they were the most popular band in the world or the least. I would love them whether they looked like punks, or metalheads, or whether they looked like Westlife. Because I love their music, I love their lyrics because they apply to real situations and real people, I love Joel's voice, I think he is the best singer in the world and I don't think he sounds whiny, and their songs make me want to get up and jump around and sing along, and that's what matters to me most.
So to all you GC whiners, quit bagging on GC and go listen to your tuneless metal.
