Free Music Notes for The Young and the HopelessFree Music Review: Do you really wanna be another trend? Hit: 5 Stars
I rate this cd 5 stars only for the fact, that Good Charlotte is my favorite band, this cd isnt as good as their first cd. But then again you cant really expect the same thing from a band such as talented as them. All around from all the air play on the radios, the teenies start swarming..because of their 'good looks' and not because of their music. The music is what its all about, and if you ask me..Good Charlotte are very talented - - and ive had the chance to meet them. And their all very nice, Like Benji once said ' Keep Representin good charlotte , cuz you know we're reprsentin you'Review for the cd 1. A new beginning - This is a cool beginning to the cd..kind of annoying...when u want to get to the actual songs..but its a really good headbanger lmao 2. The Anthem- A loser anthem, losers like me have something to be happy about now, anyone whos made fun of or looked down on for being a goth..or w/e they are...or how they dress, you listen to this song with the lyrics ' i dont ever wanna be like you' it autmatically brightens up your day 3. Lifestyles of the rich and famous - a funny song...but its been on the radio so much its sort of gotten old, But its an all around good song 4.Wondering - Well... as billy says 'Benji swears this song is about his dog' lol so..its a good love song, or...dog song..whatever..it makes u think lol. 5. The story of my old man- About Joel and Benjis dad, he walked out on their family years ago and left joel benji and his brothers and sisters and their mother to fend for themselves..i thouroughly hate him for that. This song has true meaning to it. 6. Girls and Boys - I really dont like this song..its funny though, and if you'll watch the video..it makes fun of avril lavigne...so the video is good...but this song is a little annoying. 7.My bloody Valentine- This song was based on the 'Tell-tale heart' Story by Edgar Allan Poe, its a GREAT song one of the best on the album, the thunder and rain in the beginning add to the dark effects of the song. 8.Hold on - if your suicidal, or have thought about it, this is a good anti - suicide song for you.And its a song w/ deep meaning. 9. Riot Girl- This song everyone loves...Its another one of my favorites..but i dont like it because all the teenies think if they act like this song...They'll have a chance with one of the members, but other than that is a good song. 10. Say anything - Its a love song, I think its mostly about a crush or something...with the lyrics 'just give me a sign, say anything...say anything' Its a song w/ deep meaning its pretty good. 11. Day that i die - Yay cashy! ok anyway, this is a good song, makes u think about the things in your life. Its one of the better songs on the cd. 12.Young and Hopeless - One of my favorite songs...not only does it have a great video...the lyrics are meaningful, and its another one of those underdog songs..so maybe thats why i like it.. 13.Emotionless- This is about joel and benjis dad, and how they want to forgive him, and want to know if hes ok..and if he ever thinks about them. Its a great song...and its lyrics are really deep, i would say this is one of the more meaningful songs on the cd. 14. Moving on- this song is exactly what the title says..its about them moving on... they're moving on from their past life and their moving on without any regrets, and their living life to the fullest.Another Good Song.
Free Music Review: Good Charlotte ROX! Hit: 5 Stars
#1 - A New Beginning - This song it WICKED! It totally sounds like something out of a Tim Burton movie, and I LOVE Tim Burton! Then it's got this hardcore punk jam about halfway through, no words, but GREAT beats! #2 - The Anthem - GREAT beat and Chorus line "I don't wanna be like you.." lol, It has a punk/semi-rap chorus, and then the rest is hella good. Also, Joel sounds great. #3 - Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous - I freakin' LOVE this track! Even though it's a single, I STILL love it. The song really means a lot, it's catchy and Joel once again sounds GREAT. I can't say enough about this kick ass song. #4 - Wondering - It was said that Benji swears that he wrote this for his dog...I believe that...it does sound like it could if you listen to the lyrics (lol). It's a more slowed-down song. Great drums, and background music. This will probably be the next single it's so great! #5 - Story Of My Old Man - This one is a fast punk-rock style song. Great music, and great lyrics. The meaning is kinda sad, and Joel sounds good holding a note. People could probably relate to this song and like it on a personal level. #6 - Girls & Boys - This one is great, it sounds like a funny 80's tune. (laughing) Anyhow, It's actually true, "Girls don't like boys, girls like cars and money.." some people are just shallow...*shurgs* #7 - My Bloody Valentine - This one is SO great. Its a great love song with a punk/rock/pop-punk style. There are some parts in it, like little bridges, where there is a different instrument (besides the guitar, bass or drums) playing and it sounds good. #8 - Hold On - Another semi-slow song. (Once again Joel sounds good). The song is basically about a depressed kid, and I (along with others) are able to relate with it. Only bad thing, they kinda sound like Finch and/or INCUBUS. #9 - Riot Girl - Now this one is cool, but getting to the end of the album the songs get weird. They start to sound like some other bands all mixed in one. The great thing about this is all the props they give girls, and the remark about skanky Spears. #10 - Say Anything - Jazz/Blues beginning but it picked up and really gets going. There are some good sounding violins and stuff in the background that add to the climax of this song. #11 - The Day That I Die - Benji's dog barking in the beginning. This song is great, I like it because it's got this wonderful chorus and you know the thing they do when u sing "Row Row Row your boat" then after a while others start coming in and singing...well this happens in the chorus...it's great. #12 - The Young & The Hopeless - Although Joel's been singing the whole time on this album, on this track, it doesn't seem like it would get annoying by now. Plus this song is like a sequel to "Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous" so it's really cool. #13 - Emotionless - This song kinda sounds like it's emo or something, but I LOVE it It's Joel in an acustic mood. It's sort of a sad, depressing song, but Joel sounds SOOOO~O good, and the song kinda reminds me of my family problems. #14 - Movin' On - This one is total rock in the beginning. It is great all the way through, not one of my favorites, but it's a great track to end the album with and both Joel and Benji sound good.
Free Music Review: Good Charlotte's Best Album! Hit: 5 Stars
This was the first Good Charlotte album I ever bought. I tore open the plastic wrapping and popped it into my CD player. Here's what I thought of the album in track-by-track form:
A New Beginning: 5/5. Not really a "song", but it's awesome. The intro is a little jack-in-the-box tune, then the guitars blast in, and it gets heavier. The simple guitar riffs are very catchy, and there are many amazing keyboard effects to make this a great introduction to a great album.
The Anthem: 5/5. This song is calling out to all the kids in the world who dream of becoming famous, and Good Charlotte supports with verses about people telling them to go to college and get a good job, but the band ignores them and continues to follow their dream.
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous: 5/5. This song is one of the best on the album. It was one their biggest hits ever, talking about how rude and wealthy celebrities really are.
Wondering: 4/5. I've heard that this is actually about Benji's dog. It's pretty good, and the chorus is pretty cool.
The Story of My Old Man: 4/5. Even though this is fast-paced and a tiny bit rushed, this song is really sad if you actually listen to the lyrics. Joel sings about his and Benji's dad, and remembering baseball games and "I love you"s and "you will go far"s and then their dad runs off, leaving Joel, Benji and their unwealthy mother behind.
Girls and Boys: 4/5. A song about girls liking what boys have, but not boys themselves. Interesting and somewhat humorous. Good song. This song lacks a fifth rating because it may be a little offensive to teenage girls.
My Bloody Valentine: 5/5. This song is catchy. Though it's somewhat violent at a few points in the song, like the first verse, opening with "I ripped out his throat..." and most of the song is about death. This is just about the heaviest song on the album.
Hold On: 5/5. This is a very insprational song against suicide. Though the video is not very good (In the video, there are interruptions during the song with real people talking about how their loved ones commited suicide.), the song itself is one of my favorites, and it let me know that I still have a long time to live, so things might get better. This song leaves you with one question: Why waste your entire life now?
Riot Girl: 3/5. This is a short song about some girl who's apparently crazy. That's all I can say.
Say Anything: 4/5. I don't listen to this song much anymore, but when I first heard it, it was pretty cool.
The Day That I Die: 4/5. Benji's dog, Cashdogg, gets a mention in this song, so it's a great song.
The Young and the Hopeless: 5/5. Awesome intro, great verses, great chorus. You figure out the rest.
Emotionless: 5/5. This is a very soft song about Joel and Benji's dad leaving them. It's slow and mostly acoustic, so it's different from most GC songs, so it's good to have a little mix.
Movin' On: 4/5. I just love the intro on this song!
Free Music Review: A Great Sophomore Effort! Hit: 5 Stars
OK, first off, Good Charlotte is not punk. I first heard Lifestyles like many others and I enjoyed it. I don't think they're punk, but unlike a lot of people on here, I don't hate them because they're "sellouts." When you actually listen to the music, you find a nice pop-rock album on here. So, here's the track-by-track breakdown.1. A New Beginning- 6/10 A chilling little intro, kinda short, kinda dull, but it serves as the intro to the album...nothing else. 2. The Anthem- 10/10 The radio single getting all the airtime now, and even though it's been overplayed to death, it's still a good song with a great message. 3. Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous- 9.5/10 The song that probably got a ton of people, including myself, hooked on GC. 4. Wondering- 8.75/10 A pretty cool song about Cashdogg, Benji's dog, although this is one of the songs on here that, to me, sounds kinda retro. 5. Story of My Old Man- 8.5/10 A song that starts out kinda slow but then busts into a burst of speed. It's a song about how the twins' dad left them when they were teenagers, and how they might end up like him too. 6. Girls and Boys- 8.75/10 A song that sounds like it belongs in the 80s, it's got a good message. 7. My Bloody Valentine- 9/10 Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's "The Telltale Heart," this song has a nice spooky effect and lyrics. 8. Hold On- 9.5/10 An excellent song with a message that goes out to any fans that have ever thought about committing suicide. 9. Riot Girl- 8/10 This is, to quote a Bowling for Soup song, "the girl all the bad guys want." Tattoos, piercings, everything a "punker" has. Oddly enough, the song mentions both Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears in this song, neither of which are really "punk." 10. Say Anything- 8.25/10 A fairly long song that starts out soft with the bass and then kicks into a somewhat emotional song. 11. The Day that I Die- 10/10 A cool song that gives the perspective of a guy who knows he'll die and he spends his last day doing everything he never really had the time to do, but makes sure to get everything in one last time. Cashdogg also gets mentioned in here again. 12. The Young and the Hopeless- 9.25/10 Good Charlotte's view of their punkness, a bunch of stuff is referenced in here. 13. Emotionaless- 10/10 Ironically, the song supposedly without emotion is jammed with things that will bring a tear to your eye...well, maybe not, but it is a song "from the heart." It's another one about how the twins' dad left them, and the pain and hardships they suffered through. 14. Movin' On- 9.75 A great way to end the CD, I especially like the part, "This ain't dying, this is living!" at the end. Some nice messages in here, and fairly inspirational. So, if you like The Anthem or Lifestyles, chances are you'll like this CD. However, if you only listen to "punk" bands, you'll have to keep searching. For everyone else though, I think you'll find something on here worth listening to, and will keep you interested for a long time to come.
Free Music Review: You WON'T be disappointed Hit: 5 Stars
I think people really need to stop judging Good Charlotte by what the haters say. And I think Tom Z should go pull that umbrella out of his ass for that piece of trash he called a "review" and that hateful display of prejudice and that dumb made up story of GC. They got where they are today working hard for it and putting all their blood, sweat, tears and time into it. They are a real band, make real music and I love and respect them. They are my role models. If you're too blind to see past the occasional childish lyric and the fact that they're on MTV, then that's your loss. This album kicks ass. Sure there are many bands better than Good Charlotte, but there are many, many worse. And GC is still constantly progressing, improving and growing up. The oldest members (the twins) were only 19 when the band's first record came out. Self titled, and really an essential for only GC fans.
Anyway, here's my review.
Gems in this album: Wondering, possibly my favourite, has some great guitar playing and lovely lyrics. A nice feel good love song. The Story of My Old Man is also good, they've written alot of songs about their alcoholic dad who left them on Christmas Eve when they were 16. A pretty upbeat and humorous song though. My Bloody Valentine is great, the twins exploring comic horror, and inspired by the Edgar Allen story "The Telltale Heart". Hold On, an anti suicide song got a considerable increase in phone calls made to teen suicide hotlines, and I think had an effect on almost everybody. The Young and Hopeless is also one of my favourites, I think gets the point across that GC don't give a damn what idiots think of them and is also pretty nice to listen to. "When I sing about my past it's not a gimmick not an act These critics and these trust fund kids try to tell me what punk is But when I see them on the street they got nothing to say" Emotionless, track 13, is a forgiveness song for the twins' dad, though still a bit angry, acoustic and emotional, a great song. The record ends on a positive note with Movin' On, a fast and well, movin' on song. "Not everybody knows that everybody goes to a better place And not everybody knows that everybody could living their last days But the hard times will come and we'll keep moving on We're movin' on... blabla" And all the other songs rock too. They honestly do. I just don't have the time to review em' all.
The bottom line is, don't go by the haters, I mean why take advice from someone who spends their time obsessing over bands they hate and then still having no good reason to hate them? Buy this CD, listen to it, then you can worship or throw it away. But try and enjoy it, after all that's what it's for.
P.S. Good Charlotte are NOT punk, so don't say they're not cause we already know. And bear in mind I left out most of the songs. These were just *some* of my favourites. And Joel has the most BEAUTIFUL singing voice. One of the best ever, IMO.
