Free Music Review: Good Charlotte returns..
Hit: 5 Stars

Good Charlotte shows pop/punk truly with this follow up. OVERALL THIS CD IS GREAT. With the lyrics, the different beat, sound, and style of each song.

Starting the cd, you get this odd feeling that someone switched the cd with a video game soundtrack, but then band kicks in and you realize that their just giving that 'we're back' sound.
'The Anthem', with a kinda synthesized sound at the beginning has a catchy beat, and shows how GC has a little creativity with their music.
'Lifestyles', with Iggy Pop's 'Lust for Life' drum beat, shows the overall creativity of GC. Take a once before catchy beat, and give it their own twist. Good point, and good lyrics.
'Wondering' - slower beat compared to the first three songs, but still is shown to be a great song with it's nice beat, and great guitar sound.
'The Story Of My Old Man' - storytelling sound to it, pop/punky beat, and good sound.
'Girls & Boys' - shows an outlook on highschool life, good lyrics
'My Bloody Valentine'- kinda sad, great musically, Very Catchy, With an orchastratic sound playing near the end, this song is nicely done.
'Hold On' - slower song, kinda emoish soundin, shows GC's versatility, not neccesarily one type of music all the time.
'Riot Girl'- great pop punk sounding song, funny lyrics, and very catchy. Great sound, very well put together.
'Say Anything' - great lyrics, nice for a slower song, one of my favorites
'The Day That I Die' - good acoustic song, yet again, great lyrics, another one of my favorites
'Young and Hopeless' - nice pop/punk beat, nice bass, nice guitar, nice drums, great lyrics for the fast to slow beat
'Emotionless' - great lyrics, i can reflect on this song in a few ways, great acoustic song, nice emoish sound, good vocals
'Movin On' - good guitar arrangement, good bass, catchy chorus, good lyrics, nice finish to the cd.

Overall, this cd is awesome. I love it, I've listened to it ALOT, and love it. This is a 'will be timeless classic' in my eyes. This is a great follow up to their first cd, and in my eyes, it beats the first. Go buy it If you haven't. Good Job Good Charlotte.

Free Music Review: Young and ...Hopeless? no, Young and Talented.
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this album just before I went on a family vacation. We've all been there...you're bored out of your mind, so what do you need? A CD player and some good CD's. However, this CD was truly the best CD I bought this year.

I wasn't even sure I was going to buy it, and when I did, I wasn't sure I was going to keep it, but I'm glad I did. The songs are sometimes funny (Boys and Girls never fails to make me laugh) sometimes thought provoking (Bloody Valentine, might make you wonder, "What exactly is Joel talking about?") and sometimes downright tear-jerking (Hold on, Emotionless...beautiful, absolutely beautiful).

I've never liked Album intro's that really have no reason for being there, and I'll admit, this was no different. "A new begining" didn't impress me, or really make me think the album would be worthwhile at all. The first time I listened through this album, I didn't really even like the whole effect (except for a few songs). However, I listened to it several more times and really got to liking it. I can honestly say this album (unlike some I bought and spent far too much on this year) that this album is not a waste of your money. A remarkable second release from the boys. Their line-up has changed slightly (of course, did that "other guy" ever really fit in anyway? I mean...he looked like he spent too much on hair gel and clothes anyway) and I think their sound is better for it. Even despite the few things I didn't like (Day that I Die and the aforementioned album intro) the album was a 5 star showing. Listening to "Say anything" for the first time, for any long-time fans, may make you remember "Time after time." I'm not sure if this is a rewrite, or simply taking a part of an older song of theirs, but still the song is awesome whether the new or old "version."

As good or better than I would expect from an amazingly talented group of guys like Good Charlotte. Their writing, playing ability and presence on the album is never disappointing when you really listen. This album was inappropriately titled. It should have been called "The Young and The Talented."

Free Music Review: Yet Another Great GC CD
Hit: 5 Stars

The Young & The Hopeless is undescribable. It is without a doubt the best Punk-Rock CD currently released. I can relate to ALL of the songs on this album. The Anthem is a jump-starter entrance to the whole CD, and it's definitely a one of my favories. Next comes the hit of Lifestyles of the rich & famous, which got me hooked on GC right away. This song is definitely a song that can get you pumped. Wondering is kind of special, considering Benji wrote this song about his dog - Cashdogg. It's cute, with lots of meaning. Without research, you never would've known what this song was about. The story of my old man is a song that a lot of people can relate to, father tells you to excell in life, but is basically being a hypocrite by drinking and ruining his own life. The song Girls & Boys has lots of truth in it, catagorizing the acts wants, and thoughts of both males and females. My bloody valentine shows the thoughts of the average male when his female crush is occupied by another guy. Of course they want the female's 'valentine' out of the way, and they want to kill him, another one of my favorites. Hold on is a song about learing to be strong and handle life as it comes to you, the last of my favorite songs. Riot girl describes the typical punk-rock girl, hates the world, loves to cause trouble, etc. Say anything is basically a phone conversation status when a boy and girl get into a fight and there is an akward silence. The boy wants the girl to say something so he'll feel relieved, likewise with the girl. The day that I die shows that you need to live every day to it's fullest as if it was the last day you were going to be alive. The young & the hopeless is about being in your own little world, about being told you can't do something, but pursuing it anyway. Emotionless is a song that I DEFINITELY can relate to. About a father who left his wife and kids after he broke their hearts. Excellent portrayal, I love it. Movin' On talks about how people make mistakes but you can't stay and grieve over it, you have to 'move on'. Yet another great Good Charlotte CD, this album will stay in my CD Player for a LONG time.

Free Music Review: Good Charlotte Does It Again ..
Hit: 5 Stars

The highly anticipated sophmore album "The Young & The Hopeless" was definitely worth the wait that all Good Charlotte fans had to go through. Before listening ot the CD, I went through the booklet that came with the CD, and before I even took it out I noticed that there was something there that Benji, guitarist of Good Charlotte, wrote. It was a stripped down thank you, entering into the deepest of his gratitude. After watching the CDextras that came along with this CD, I listened to it, and from beginning to end, I was amazed. Good Charlotte's first album was amazing, but 'The Young & The Hopeless' shows a more mature side of the boys.

Starting off with some jewelry-box song type, going into an anthem for anyone who feels rejected in high school, flowing into their first single, "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous." After this comes the song "Wondering," a nice song with catchy lyrics. Then comes one of two songs about the twins' father, "The Story of My Old Man." After this narrative-type song comes an 80s sounding song that talks of girls not liking boys for who they are, just for their cars, money, etc. Then comes "My Bloody Valentine", a sad yet upbeat-sounding song, that immediately follows into "Hold On," a song written for the kids that the guys from Good Charlotte met on tour that were going though some sort of pain. "Hold On" is like "The Motivation Proclamation" from the last CD, it's a very uplifting song that starts and ends with the sound of rain. After following this somewhat insightful song comes Riot Girl, possibly one of the weaker songs on the album. Say Anything, a fragile relationship song comes after, followed by "Day That I Die" which is speaking of the happiness that would come with the day of death. The title track, "The Young & The Hopeless", quite possibly the best track on the CD, is then followed by "Emotionless" - a song of forgiveness towards their father. The CD is then concluded with "Movin On", an excellent song to wrap up their CD, telling bluntly how they are moving on.

I suggest that anyone even considering to buy this CD to pick it up, you won't be disappointed.

Free Music Review: Great CD
Hit: 5 Stars

A couple of days ago we were driving home from my sister's soccer game, which was 2 hours out in the middle of nowhere, when we stopped for a potty break at a Wal-Mart. on the way to the bathroom we passed the CD section and I saw "The Young and Hopeless" just sitting on the rack, so I got it. since then I haven't been able to stop listening to it. The first thing I noticed about the CD was it was very repetitive. The only bad thing on the whole CD. Actually the only reason I got the CD was for the song "Girls and Boys" which was good but, not great. I'd heard a little part of the song somwhere (can't remember where) and I liked it but, after listening to it and comparing it to "The Anthem" and Wondering I thought it's not the best song. Don't get me wrong on this it's still my 3rd favorite song on the CD but, it's not 10/10 stars. If your going to get the CD for one song I would reccomend it be "The Anthem" or "Wondering" they're pretty easily the 2 best songs on the CD. "Girls and Boys" comes close but, doesn't get there. I'm not sure why exactly "Girls and Boys" isn't in the top 2, it might be the lyrics or the drums I'm not sure.

"The Anthem" is a really good song, probably the best song on the CD. Good lyrics and great guitar combine for a really good song. "Wondering" is also a very good song, It's my second favorite on the CD. it's not as Punk as some of Good Charlotte's other songs but, it gets the job done. I'd rate it a 9/10.
"Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" is overated. good lyrics and bad drums combine for something OK. I thought it was a 8/10. "The Story of my Old Man" is another decent song. It's very fast paced and you can't understand some of the lyrics but, I like it. I'd give it an 8/10. "Hold on", "Riot Girl", and "Say Anything" are 3 other good songs probably between 5/10 and 8/10. Everthing else are OK and bad songs.

Overall grade: 9/10

great songs: 3

good songs: 4

OK songs: 3

bad songs: 3

In conclusion I would reccomend buying this CD if you like Punk music.
