Free Music Review: Gordon Lightfoot - Unique voice and songwriter
Hit: 5 Stars

Gordon Lightfoot is one of those musicians whose songwriting touches the human spirit with its poignant lyrics in songs like Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and If You Could Read My Mind. Not only is it great music, but these classics stay with you long after listening to them because they have much depth. The Seventies were a great decade for immensely talented singer/songwriters and Gordon's music is timeless for a reason. He has a unique voice and music that is truly enjoyable. This is an excellent collection of his finest that had much crossover appeal as soft rock, folk rock, and country. Music of the Seventies is some of the richest ever recorded and personally my favorite.

Free Music Review: Excellent CD, Singer & Songwriter
Hit: 5 Stars

It had been a long time since I had heard anything by Gordon Lightfoot. As I listened to the songs play, it was like he was telling me stories. Short narratives put to music & played flawlessly. Gordon Lightfoot has been a favorite of mine for some time & listening to "The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald" is just awesome from beginning to end. You can feel the power of the waves hitting the freighter & the futility on the crews efforts. There were many other songs I had not heard before, but they too were just as good. That is the benefit of buying a collection of tunes on a "Greatest Hits" CD. His singing & guitar playing are very good throughout the CD. Check it out.

Free Music Review: Almost Complete Collection
Hit: 5 Stars

After reading some of the glowing reviews about this CD, I can only agree with these positive sentiments from other reviewers. The only problem I have with this collection is this. They left off his understated hit from the mid 80's called 'Anything For Love'. Am I the only one who remembers this hit single? Had they included this at the end of the disk, it would be 100% perfect. But, if you don't know this song, or you don't remember it, then by all means, get this collection! There are *no re-records* on this CD. They are all the original hits as you remember them.
From start to finish, this CD is a very smooth, easy listen.

Free Music Review: This Man is a Master Who Commands Your Respect And Your Heart...
Hit: 5 Stars

And this is perhaps the best place to start with a Gordon Lightfoot album purchase because it includes all of his hits including hits that came after "Gord's Gold" was released in 1975 like "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and the lesser known but powerful "The Circle Is Small". Simply put, there are some truly perfect songs on here. Listen to the incredible guitar work going on in "If you Could Read My Mind"- one of the greatest songs ever written. And the groove and chords going on in "Sundown". I just saw him perform live in Boston and people in the audience were hailing him almost as much as Brian Wilson.

Free Music Review: Gord's the man
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is essential to anyone who likes Gordon Lightfoot. It is a great chronology of this gifted singer, songwriter. His early acoustic folk music is simply some of the best ever recorded. Early mornin rain is as good as folk music gets.I have been hooked on lightfoot since I heard "sundown" on the radio as a youngster. But If you haven't heard Lightfoots early recordings for united artists you just haven't heard the whole story. this is one of the best collections of one of north america's greatest musical treasures. Put it in your player and let it go. You won't be sorry
