Free Music Notes for Gordon Lightfoot - Complete Greatest HitsFree Music Review: Wonderful Hit: 5 StarsI loved the songs, etc. Sound was clear and really enjoyable to listen to.
Free Music Review: Gordon Lightfoot Hit: 5 StarsThe very best of the velvet voiced Gordon Lightfoot. His style and songs are immortal.
Free Music Review: Gordon Lightfoot: Complete Greatest Hits Hit: 5 StarsThis CD is the best single disc collection of Gordon Lightfoot's greatest hits. All 20 songs are written by Lightfoot. Some of his earlier ones like "Early Morning Rain", "For Lovin' Me", and "Cotton Jenny" were made famous by Peter, Paul, & Mary and Anne Murray. In 1971, he began topping the Billboard charts. All of those songs are here including "If You Could Read My Mind", "Beautiful", "Sundown" which reached # 1 on the pop charts, "Carefree Highway", "Rainy Day People", "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" one of my all time favorites and a lyrical masterpiece (that probably only Lightfoot could have performed), "Race Among the Ruins", "The Circle is Small, and "Baby Step Back". A true fan might better enjoy the multi-disc collection "Songbook" but that costs $60 and this CD is only $14 so it is well worth the price. If you grew up in the 1970's as I did, and you like Gordon Lightfoot, this CD is a must. It is very highly recommended.
Free Music Review: Great CD Hit: 5 StarsI was familiar with only a few songs on this cd, but have thoroughly enjoyed every one of them!!
Free Music Review: This pales in comparison to "Songbook," but this is a fine CD indeed. Hit: 4 StarsFour stars rather than 5 only because a single-CD collection can't help but omit some amazing music for such a prolific artist. Listen to the Songbook boxed set to hear what I mean. This may be the commercial cream skimmed off the top, but it's still good, no, excellent music and lyrics. Be aware, however, that I was born in the late 50s, so my perspective may be different than yours.
