Unlike "Gord's Gold", this CD contains the original recordings of all of the best loved Gordon Lightfoot songs--the way you heard them on the radio 25 years ago. This compilation has, I think, the best version of "Canadian Railroad Trilogy", which moves at a much higher tempo than the "Gord's Gold" version--a real foot tapping tune. Being a bit too young to remember Lightfoot's career in the 60's and 70's, I reeally appreciate the liner notes description of the individual songs.Free Music Review: Like the title says : complete!

The first single-disk anthology of Gordon Lightfoot to feature both United Artists and Warner Bros. material (the UA-era tracks on "Gord's Gold" were re-recorded) is a gem. The selections are well-chosen (hits, favorite LP tracks, and songs made popular by others) and generous in number, the remastered sound is clean, crisp, and warm (as it should be for acoustic music), and the booklet - with track by track notes and plenty of photos - is a splendid bonus. Well, let's put it this way... I already had a pretty comprehensive "Best Of" type collection of Lightfoot's songs. However, the song "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" had NOT been included in 'that' collection. Though I love nearly everything he has ever written/recorded "The Wreck" is undoubtedly my "favorite" song of his and thought it worth buying another collection of his songs just so that I could have that "classic" in my collection!Free Music Review: We Love This CD!

While there will always be some people that think there should be other songs on this CD, we love it! Sure, there might be someone's favorite song missing, but this CD has pretty much ALL his greatest hits. They are nicely arranged in a pleasing-to-listen to order and very nicely remastered with excellent sound. I'm a new Gordon Lightfoot fan, after being introduced to this album by a friend. This album is fantastic. Even though I never owned one of his albums before, every selection was familar because of their radio play way back when in the '70s. 40-something? Here are the songs of our youth. Check out his website, he's still out there playing and that is a great experience as well.
