Free Music Review: Demon Days turns out to be heavenly
Hit: 5 Stars

Let's just start this short review with a simple statement; this record is genius. As previous reviewers have stated, the first Gorillaz record was rather difficult to fathom initially, but this one is a plug-and-play appreciative record. On first listen from the second that the record started playing in my CD player, I was hooked. This is greatly in part to the record's famous producer in hip-hop and alternative rap production, DJ Danger Mouse (creator of the infamous Grey Album).
The beat patterns and structures on the record are amazing, simply put. Danger Mouse and the rest of the Gorillaz Partnership experiment with some of the craziest and most inventive rhythms I have ever heard on a popular record. For example, on Each Planet We Reach Is Dead, the group goes from a furious trip-hop beat style into an inventive jazz pattern that complements the track well, and finally helps hip-hop realize that using such beats can be done.
The words are equally as clever and poignant as anything else that Albarn or the Gorillaz have previously done, and with the combination of Danger Mouse's experimentation with very obscure synths and sounds the record is a display of ingenuity that has been long overdue.

Free Music Review: Holy Crap!
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow, I raced out today to get this since I'm a huge fan and there was only one CD left!!! So I said, "HOLY CRAP!" and grabbed it! Anyway, I started listening to it in the car and it was sooo good I said, "HOLY CRAP!" since it was so good. I loved the catchy tunes. A week previous I was mezmerized by Mezmerize, but now I'm mesmerized by this sparkeling masterpiece. "HOLY CRAP!" I can't describe this at all. It's too good for words. I mean, I can say that it makes me crap my pants it's so good. Alot of the songs are also like 80's dance songs, but extremely well done. 80's dance music sort of sucks...but this is awsome. Gorillaz are a sweet band. And when the last 2 songs tied together at the end I said, "HOLY CRAP!"

NOTE: THIS ALBUM DOES NOT HAVE EITHER 19-2000 OR CLINT EASTWOOD IN THE TRACK LISTING, THEREFORE IT'S VERY GOOD AND ORIGINAL.

NOTE #2: How many versions can you possibly make of a song?
19-2000 - 4 versions (one crappy one)
Clint Eastwood - 4 versions

Hmm, they're good songs but they're not the second coming if you know what I mean.

Note #3: BUY THIS CD!!!

"HOLY CRAP!"

Free Music Review: I guess I'm not alone
Hit: 5 Stars

I came here to write a review about this album, expecting to be the only one this crazy about this album. But glancing through the reviews, it seems that a LOT of people are fanatical about this album like I am.

I bought this album on a whim after having had the first album for so long. I figured I'd give it a go. The album showed up (i got it used from this site) and I popped it in. Fast forward a week, and it was still the only CD I had listened to. I probably listen to this album every other day.

There really, honestly isn't a bad track on it. My least favorite moments are probably the rap section of Dirty Harry, and the track "White Light". But even those are listenable, and I still find myself singing along.

This album sounds like Pink Floyd, if Bob Dylan were the lead singer. There are moments on this album (the end of "Kids with Guns", "El Manana" that sound like they could have been taken off Pink Floyd's "Meddle" album.

All in all, this is probably one of my favorite albums of all time. I don't give that title out lightly, but something about this album is just... golden.

Free Music Review: Pleasantly Surprised...
Hit: 5 Stars

Honestly, I liked BLUR, but was never a huge fan. Imagine my surprise when I learned that cool FEELGOOD, INC. song on the radio was sung by the same guy who sang Song 2!

I never heard the first Gorillaz CD, so this was pretty new to me. I heard FEELGOOD, INC. and came to Amazon to check out the rest of the songs. I'll tell ya, that 30-second sample doesn't give enough evidence to how awesomely cool this CD is. I mean, these songs are thought provoking and the melodies stick with you all day. It's tough to sit through a business meeting with "Kids with Guns" running through your head, but the drive home is a blast with that blaring through the speakers!

The melodies on this CD range from the Beach Boys-ish "Don't Get Lost in Heaven" to sounding like The Doors on "Every Planet is Dead". And Dennis Hopper telling about the town of Happy Folk? Sheer brilliance.

This isn't your typical trendy music CD. Gorillaz provides a huge variety of style, something you can groove to, and perfect for the ride home or background noise at a party. Can't wait to see what they do next!

Free Music Review: Demon Days : A Masterpiece
Hit: 5 Stars

While their debut album back in 2001 was considered a doubtless hit and deemed them The Most Successful Virtual Band, it is the second album by Gorillaz, tiled " Demon Days ", that has made the world recognize them and given the band the popularity they deserve. Much darker than the previous, Demon Days is like Pink Floyd mixed with techno sounds, and rap music/ artists. The first 6 songs are, by themselves, all hits. From the Intro / Last Living Souls, to Kids With Guns, to O Green World, to finally Dirty Harry, and of course, Feel Good, Inc., which won the MTV 2005 Award for best breakthrough music video. Songs 7-10 are ok, but nothing special. Just filler. But song 11, DARE, is an enjoyable hit that recently got it's own music video. Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head, the 12th song, is a narraration by Dennis Hopper, is the dark story of the Happy Folk and a volcano killing them due to greed. The album finally draws to an end with Don't Get Lost In Heaven and Demon Days, narrarated by a choir. There you have it! Demon Days. The 2nd album by Gorillaz, which is not only a hit, but a masterpiece.
