Free Music Notes for Demon Days

Free Music Review: OK at First, GREAT after a closer listen
Hit: 5 Stars

Listened to this song in my car after purchasing. I bought it because I liked the first album and I liked the song feel good inc. I was not to impressed the first time listening to this album because it is different from their first. Darker and more original is the best way to describe it. After listening a 2nd time with my Senn hd650 headphones I was was stunned. Details and sounds were revieled that I could not previously hear. All I can say is the second time I listened to this album I loved every second of it (though I didnt car for "Dirty Harry"). "Fire Coming out of The Monkeye's Head" and "DOnt get lost in Heaven" are two increadible pieces of music (especially with a good setup). Honestly this is one of the Top 5 albums I have every heard (Behind Pink Floyd- Wish YOu Were Here, Oasis- Whats the story mourning glory, Jimmy Hendrix-Band Of Gypsies, Shpongle- Are You Shpongled, then Demon Days. Most of the music on this album can be MUCH better appreciated with good headphones, however if you give this album a few chances its melodic beats and vocals will reward you greatly. Free Music Review: Demon Days : A Masterpiece
Hit: 5 Stars

While their debut album back in 2001 was considered a doubtless hit and deemed them The Most Successful Virtual Band, it is the second album by Gorillaz, tiled " Demon Days ", that has made the world recognize them and given the band the popularity they deserve. Much darker than the previous, Demon Days is like Pink Floyd mixed with techno sounds, and rap music/ artists. The first 6 songs are, by themselves, all hits. From the Intro / Last Living Souls, to Kids With Guns, to O Green World, to finally Dirty Harry, and of course, Feel Good, Inc., which won the MTV 2005 Award for best breakthrough music video. Songs 7-10 are ok, but nothing special. Just filler. But song 11, DARE, is an enjoyable hit that recently got it's own music video. Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head, the 12th song, is a narraration by Dennis Hopper, is the dark story of the Happy Folk and a volcano killing them due to greed. The album finally draws to an end with Don't Get Lost In Heaven and Demon Days, narrarated by a choir. There you have it! Demon Days. The 2nd album by Gorillaz, which is not only a hit, but a masterpiece.

Free Music Review: Even better than the first album
Hit: 5 Stars

Like many Gorillaz fans, I was pretty uneasy about the second album considering the changes in lineup. Right away, I noticed the sound was a little different. It was a bit more rock-oriented, but still with a lot of hip-hop mixed in. Somehow it just sounded different.

But then I noticed that the album felt more mature than the previous one. The creative genius really blossomed in this album, and you can really start to feel what Gorillaz as a band is all about. The music continues to have a wide variety with songs like "Dare" being like something you'd find in a dance-club, and "O Green World" being more of a rock song. Yet, they all fit together seamlessly. For what it's worth, Feel Good, Inc., Dare and O Green World are my current favorite. But the rest are not far behind!

Truth be told, now that I got use to this album, I like it way more than the previous. There's just a lot of really good, creative music in this album. The first album made me a Gorillaz fan, but the second album sealed the deal, so to speak.

Definitely check it out.

Free Music Review: all-in-one-album
Hit: 5 Stars

First I have to say I was spinning holes in my floor waiting for the new album from Gorillaz. Ever since he left Blur, everything Damon Albarn has touched has turned into gold from my point of view!

When I got the disc I was very excited and awfully afraid that the follow-up was going to be mediocre. But no Sir! From "last Living souls" with it's oldschool and childish discorhythms via Roots Manuvas punching word-spitting performance on "all alone" to the finalizing three-track tale with Dennis Hopper's trustgiving voice and Heavenly London Community Gospel Choir shouting me right into the center of Gorillaz' weird and wonderful world of playful artistic anarchy!

The melodies on this disc are pure popmusic-art. And the wrapping is ever-changing with all kinds of styles thrown together and with twists and brakes and surprising bridges around every corner.

My most pleasent surprise was the amount of oldskool sounds. Some of the tracks give me associations to the swedish underground synthpopband The Knife.

Buy it!

Free Music Review: Another success from this band
Hit: 5 Stars

Although I still like the first Gorillaz C.D. more, I would still consider Demon Days to be a very good album for both the rock and rap that is on it. There is a very wide variety of music on this C.D., from peaceful songs like El Manana to outgoing ones like the hit track Feel Good Inc. All sorts of sounds are used for the backgrounds too, such as high-pitched voices saying "All Alone" or electronic beep patterns. The song I would most recommend on this album is "Fire Coming Out of The Monkey's Head", which is basically a fantasy tale being read by Dennis Hopper. It is accompanied by guitar plucks, bass slides, and electronic chords that sound great together. I strongly like this C.D., and I would recommend it to Gorillaz fans and fans of alternative rock.
I recommend:
Last Living Souls
Kids With Guns
O Green World
Dirty Harry
Feel Good Inc.
Every Planet We Reach Is Dead
Novermber Has Come
All Alone
White Light
Dare
Fire Coming Out of The Monkey's Head
Don't Get Lost In Heaven
