Free Music Notes for G-SidesFree Music Review: the mew gorillaz album--better than the first? Hit: 4 Stars
Well the first thing that I have to say is that this album is pretty good considerind that it only has 9(NINE) songs!!!! I was really dissapointed when I found out that the two extra songs that were to be videos were not on the disk. The first the new single that came out yesterday in Brit. (tomorrow comes today) and the video for "rock tha house" are not on here. To tell the truth that is the only reason that I didn't give it a full rating! If the CD would have them I would give this CD 5. Well it really doesn't matter because I just seen them on the website,...they are pretty cool. To me though, the principle is to have something that was originally supposed to be on the album(I think that's called FALSE ADVERTISMENT)!!... This CD has 3 song that have already been out and they're just remixes of "19-2000" and "Clint Eastwood". All in all this is a pretty solid album of b-sides that were released through out the world just not in America. If anyone likes the Gorillaz debut album then this is a must buy for them!!
Free Music Review: Great!!! But not as good as there original album.. Hit: 4 Stars
Gorillaz G SIDES is another awesome album made by our favorite lil' chimps, but the sad thing is this is really just abunch of remixes with a few new songs that are very memerable. I'll make this review quick..just like the CD! It's only about 36 minutes long!! But the songs are still well worth the listening...For me the only songs I really disliked was the Latin Sumone, Clint Eastwood and 192000 remix(track 3)...the best songs are obviously the Soul Child Remix of 192000, The Sounder, Faust, Ghost train and probably my favorite Gorillaz song...EVER........12D3!...Simply there best song...in my opinion...it was just simply slow and beautiful.
If you're expecting another full lengh Gorillaz album LOOK ELSWERE, but if your in the mood on some Fine Remixes and a few new tracks THEN GET THIS!!!
Gorillaz: G sides is a fantastic album, but too short...it's pretty close to the original...but no cigar...
In the End I give it a
4.4 out of 5
Free Music Review: great "supplement" CD Hit: 4 Stars
This is a great CD and supplement to go with the other Gorillaz CD, but the thing is, its not really the length or the number of songs for an actual CD. It has a couple of B-Sides, and some mixes of their popular hits. The first mix of 19-2000 is great... a more upbeat, poppy, happy version of the song that is now getting some radio airplay. The other B-Sides sound just as good as the debut CD. The booklet has many pages with many great animations of the band. There is one complaint i have about the CD, is that they have pulled a Weezer and the CD is only 38 minutes long and 9 tracks, a short amount for paying the full price of a CD for it. But if you love the Gorillaz this is an excellent CD to keep you satisfied until their next CD. If you are just getting into them, definately try the other one first. Oh yea- and once again there is a parental advisory for hardly any reason? What is up with them and those labels for no reason?
Free Music Review: Great addition to a Gorillaz collection Hit: 4 Stars
G-Sides is a cd with mostly songs that had been released with hard to find singles of the hit songs. It has two remixes of 19-2000, the first one (the Soulchild remix) being extremely good with a up beat groove, the second one being the worst song on the cd. Latin Simone in english is a treat to hear. The Sounder and Clint Eastwood Remix are two songs by Phi Life, and are both very good, even for someone who doesn't like most traditional rap. One of the best songs is Ghost Train, which actually has the feel of moving on a very fast, and haunting, train. Don't overlook Faust though, because about 2:30 into the song, Noodle starts singing in Japanese, which I was thrilled to hear, being a very big J-Pop fan. The cd ends nicely with 12D3, a very mellow song, much like Brother from the first cd. This is a great 2nd album for the Gorillaz, and I can't wait for more.
Free Music Review: Sweet but short. Hit: 4 Stars
G-Sides is a nice remix album and if you are a fan of the original Gorrilaz album, you should definitely pick this one up. If you aren't, you probably won't like this one and if you have never heard the Gorillaz, you should check out their first album before you buy this one as it provides a richer and fuller base from which to judge their music.
G-Sides contains only nine tracks. Two of them feel somewhat sub-par next to the others (the Wiseguys remix of 19-2000 and Ghost Train), but several of them are fantastic (the Soul Child remix of 19-2000, Latin Simone, and the Phi Life Cypher remix of Clint Eastwood). The Clint Eastwood remix is essentially unrelated to the original once you move past the bass line, but it is still a fantastic song, so who cares. The rest of the album is solid and 12D3 especially is almost hit material.
